What PKI "Really" Needs.

Some "touching up." Some of PKI's rides could use some revamping. Lets take Adventure Express for example. The coolest little/big ride in the park. From what I understand, Adventure Express was a very cool ride when it first open (not that it isn't now). People tell me that they had little haze, or mist, when you went throught the tunnels. Better sound effects and something about a guy that popped out to scare you (or something to that effect). Man, if PKI used some more mist/haze at night it would be super cool. It would give a new sense of fun and excitement to the ride. I mean imagine it. You drop down that first drop, right out from the station, then you go through the little curve and boom, you see this mist filled tunnel with all kinds of purple, blue, green and pink lighting. It would be so neat. Just the little things like that could make the park exciting again for those that think it is dull. Heck, even if it means (I know, I can't believe I am saying this) not having a coaster another year, so that they could make such improvements, it would still be worth it.

Also, can you believe the paint is already wearing off of the bars of Tomb Raiders que line? I know it is supposed to look old and abandon but when the bamboo starts to turn a kelly green, thats not a good sign. They need to respray paint that.

Vortex, not much to do now that they repainted it.

Face/Off is looking good but woo the line.

Son Of Beast, this ride really needs some tunnels or trees to make it feel like the "son."

FOF, someone mentioned that they think the themeing was pretty good this year. Hum, it looked the same but non the less. It needs a few touch up too. A new vid maybe? Possibly touching up the exit? I dunno. The themeing on it isn't to great.

Top Gun, I would like to see the full que line open up again. I never really got to see it.

Thats what I got. What are your thoughts as far as a revamping?

I agree with some of the stuff that you are saying, A/E at night with the mist was the COOLEST!!

If people would quit scratching and wearing the paint off of TR:TR's handrails, it would be a non issue.

As far as SOB goes, Beast's trees didn't grow back in a day, but it could use a tunnel, maybe on the 2nd helix.

FOF does look 300x better with all of the lights working, but you're right, it does need a new show.

I liked Top Gun's pseudo "air craft carrier" themeing, but I've been on one, doesn't resemble it except for the gunmetal grey paint. But they got rid of the monitoring/ measurement position down there, so don't expect to see it reopened ever. But they are hiring, so if you want to work there, I'm sure you'd get to see more than you've ever wanted to see of it! lol :)

The thing that gets me is that they could do a lot without forgoeing a new coaster for next year. They did make some great paint improvements to Coney Mall, which was uncharactaristic because it didn't house the "new ride". What i think they need is mosly cosmetic. Bring back the brick walkways in Coney, and the fountains. Make the Festhaus a Festhaus like at BG:W, and keep up the themeing on all the rides: FOF, A/E, TR:TR, the new HB ride, keep the blue blue and the red red. And for God's sake, REPAINT THE RACER!!

Ok, after visiting this past summer, I have a couple of things I would like to see at PKI to make my money exit my wallet.

a) Do not have mowers mowing grass until 10:30am. b) Vortex paint job like you said. c) I don't care about tunnels and trees on SOB, just get new trains, or I cannot ride it anymore. d) Tear down half of Top Gun and create a longer ride. With all of that space back there, it should be a better ride than what was developed, although, it was an awesome ride exprience. e) Adv Express the biggest surprise of the day, should regain the mist, but other than that, leave it alone, it was a great little addition.

1/2 of that is a wishlist and the other half can be completed with a little help. PKI increased ratings on all levels this season.......very nice family park.

Actually, Woody, PKI already has answered your Vortex paint job. It has been painted this year. Also I too would like to see PKI get better trains for Sonny. This woodie has so much potential, it'd be great to have trains that everyone, short and tall, can fit into. Last time I rode SOB was during 2000 Fear Feast. Three times during that year total.

All the Paramount parks need severe help. They have lost there magic that they had when the parks first open. They were well themed at that time.

But constant ride removal, addition of rides with no thought to theming vs. location, and poor maintenance of what theming they put to a ride (adventure express) makes these parks a marginal experience for the guest at the best.

These parks must employ the most non-creative management possible. I hope they are not using the term theme park anymore to describe themselves. They should be using the term landscaped carnival.

When paramount Bought PKI it was in bad shape. They have done alot in the past 10 years. Most all ride removals HAD to happen. There was either no way to fix them (skylab) or The ride becomes unsafe and unrelable(SP) (King cobra). Then theres the factor that the ride never made money (KCKC).

-----------------
Be nice to ride op's. No matter how slow unfriendly and uncaring they may seem Most work hard to make your day great.

Hmm, super7. If you took out Paramount Parks and asked me to fill in the blank, I might have put anything from Cedar Fair to Disney to Universal to Six Flags in that spot. All of them remove rides. For the most part, theming has been less than satisfactory at times with no regard at all the location (see Two/Face SFA, see RnRC DSP, see DT). Until I visit the other PP, PKI is one of my favorites ever. Some theming is better than no theming and PKI has more than just some theming. The only parks I can think of with more in general are Disney, Universal, and Busch. They're leaps and bounds above any other seasonal park I've been to, but HW and SFGAm is right up there too!

Okay, where to start?

First off, I agree 100% with you about Adventure Express. That ride is just an eyesore. From year to year, it gets worse. SOMETHING NEEDS DONE PKI, if you're reading!!!! About the TRTR paint, they've been doing a lot of touching up daily. Often because the paint isn't completely dry yet, the ride opens about 30 minutes late, but hey! It looks better so I don't complain.

Vortex is always awesome, not matter what. And the paint does look great!

Face/Off - yes the line is always long but I normally ride it atleast once everytime I go. It is a great ride! Don't let the "Vekoma" part trick you!

Son of Beast - Trees are needed but I'm sure there are seeds on the ground and this winter I forsee a big overhaul of plants being put in and possibly tunnels. WOO HOO! After time the trees will grow and it'll look better. The origonal Beast didn't have all this tree problem because most of the ride it low to the ground and doesn't need a large opening to put a crane in to construct it. Most trees stayed, and still remain today.

FoF - A new video would be GREATLY appreciated! I've got most of it memorized including my favorite part... "Imagine a world, where the improfections of human existance are a thing of the past. Where hunger and poverty are unknown, where everything is beauty, tranquility, and peace......" Haha okay I'll stop. But a new movie would be great appreciated. The one now is getting old IMO. If a new video were made, maybe the number of people smoking in line would lower.

Top Gun - I really can't say anything here. Besides the train mishap near the end of the season, it was running perfect IMO.

Other things I'd like to see.....

Maybe another way to get into Action Zone, and possibly a new Action FX movie. I really wasn't thrilled about the two this year. I'd also like to see maybe a few more water slides in the water park. Some of the lines there can get long. New slides would be great! And finally, I know it's not gonna happen but I'd still like to see KC pop up in a different part of the park!

sup betsy, i agree with what youre saying

I really like PKI and think it is a excellant park!!! One of the few parks that goes out of its way to have attractions/areas that kids really enjoy.

The only thing i think the park needs is a top notch steel coaster. Its wooden coasters are great, the water park is good, and it has good flat rides. But the only weakness i see is a great steel coaster.

The park is just not as asthetically pleasing as it used to be. They do a great job on these things initially, but then they jus fall into ruin. Some of the things in the park look really horrid, and nothing gets done until it is absolutely imperative. One thing for sure that needs to be repainted is the shelter for the carousel. It looks terrible.

smile...it's cheap, and people will wonder what you're up to. :)

The best thing they could do to PKI is tear it down...

...and move it to Madison, WI ;) hehe

What I would like to see is some more of the old or new family rides. I would love to see a return of the whip and the tumble bug. Put them back in the old coney area for a nostalgia area. Of course we are in need of another big coaster (steel I hope). I love poppa and the son is sometimes just too rough.
You're park is getting a Giant Frisbee (not to mention that Giant Topspin from last year) and you're worried about what they should do to the rest of the park? Man, some people are just never happy.

Dude, you're getting an Intamin!

I would love for PKI to get an intamin hyper. I don't see it happening anytime soon though. They have great wooden coasters and their steel coasters are nice but there is really no outstanding steel. Vortex, great ride getting older. Top Gun, love it but it isn't a really big thriller. Face/Off is very fun but cloned. FOF, fun but nothing amazing. A hyper would greatly improve this park.

I think PKI is perfect the way it is. Haven't we had this same discussion before, EminEm?
Mathhayman, and where's the next closest Invertigo? That's right, it's at Six Flags America, which takes a boatload of time to get to from King's Island or reverse. The next closest one would be at Parmount's Great America which would take several days to get to from King's Island. Get over it.

Dude, you're getting an Intamin!

Ohio needs a good Morgan coaster. In fact, not only is Ohio due for a Morgan, but Morgan is due for something bigger and better. I wonder what they have up their sleeves for the future ? I love their Hypers, but they need to have a more broad coaster product line. A Morgan Hyper would be a great addition to PKI. A B&M floorless would be great too.

Although I've never ridden one, Morgan hypers don't seem very Intense?! ***Probably wrong*** And I'm not a big fan of just the out and back style. I don't mind em but I like variety. Although I haven't ridden it either Raging Bull looks like ride I'd love!
