what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
Monte, Silver Bullet, Xcel, Goliath, Riddler's......worth it. Not to mention the company of good peeps. :-)

Of course I did return to the Dells this weekend.... ;)
IJST @ PKI/PCW
Hydra @ Dorney
Hades @ Mt. Olympus
...and maybe the new mouse at Morey's Piers. Most everything else is overseas, or somewhere else in the world. A lot of parks seem to be following the mold of PKI, (not that they started it), and are going for more family-based rides/areas, more flats...for many reasons, (cost, friendly to more visitors, or maybe something different). Not only do some parks not have the money, but they don't have the space/landlocked or there may be height restrictions that keep them from building hypers/megas.
Parks have their reasons, don't ever skip parks just because they don't build constantly. I did that one time at SFKK with Greezed Lightnin' a couple years back, and got ripped about it here on CB, (I said something to the affect that it didn't look like much of a ride!). Anyway, rode it on my next trip there and absolutely love it! Thought I was going to fall to my death on the return trip, but love it anyway. Rode it 4-5 more times that day!
For my limited vacation time, I'll be at Kennywood, Geauga Lake (there are 2 very good reasons to go to Geauga Lake and 1 mediocre reason) or even something not even park related. I'd rather spend my day in a canoe then putting up with hour (or more) long lines at Cedar Point no matter what they add.

Politically correct? Maybe....Maybe it's just in the phrasing. SFDL was a *pit* when I was there. Supes was down (and was noted as such outside). Viper was also down all day, with another week *at least* before it could be repaired....no notice of THAT outside the gates. Then, with BOTH big steelies down, the *incredible* brain-trust at the park decided that single-training the sole remaining full-circuit steelie was a good move...
That's not politically correct....but it IS accurate. Even with free admission, I was tempted to ask for our parking fee back....yes, it was THAT bad.
PGA, MiA, SFAW are three other parks I'm going to have to be *persuaded* to set foot in again....these are AMUSEMENT parks, and the one thing I found entirely *unamusing* was the way they treated their captiv...er, guests. The ONLY reason I have to go back to SFDL is because Supes at their park will still be "new to me", and I am absolutely *obsessed* with the RoSs...
It's NOT about me, or their *additions*, it's about how they treat THEIR locals...and if what *I* experienced is what the locals TYPICALLY experience (as is apparently the case based on the SFDL locals)....then their complaints ARE justified.
Getting new rides is WAYYY less than half the battle. How you treat the people who come through your gates, and your employees, that's what really tells the tale. That's why parks like Knoebels, and HW, and PCW, and IB, and Dollywood, and Kennywood, and Hershey, and SDC, etc., don't HAVE to build something new for me to go back...and I suspect strongly that the same is true of the locals.
A BIG new ride, like KK, could very well give you *another shot* at impressing those who matter most. But you have to MAKE the most of it... ;)
I totally agree with that post. At least SOMEONE understands how darien lake is so poorly operated. The reason we always suggest new rides is that maybe it'll help the place because obviously the public relations and operations needs work and will NEVER be changed. A new ride is the only means of improvmement.
I really don't know why you are so upset about Superman. It's really not that great. It's not a bad ride but it's so predictable and the layout is so meh. The airtime isn't at all what it used to be and the ride shuffles on the lift hill. It is by no means rough or painful, but it just shakes so much. Millennium Force is 10X smoother than Superman. S:ROS at SFNE is also much smoother than Darien's.
The park itself is ok but I've never seen a park handle crowds worse than Darien Lake. Luckily the superman crew is ultra efficient but the rest are slow as mollasses. (sp?)
No it's not CP or Gadv, and it'll never be, but they really need to give people a reason to stay more than one day to maximize profits from that beautiful hotel that I assume barely fits up.
I can't picture myself at Dorney anytime in the near future, unless something really radical gets put in. Hydra was just ok.
SFA really surprised me with the Hurricane Harbor transformation, so I plan on making a few more visits over the season. I hadn't expected that response. It also helps that they're getting one of my favorite rides running a lot more reliably due to a new sensor system--Typhoon Sea Coaster. As for next year, we'll see...
The one park that I would absolutely love to go back to that has new exciting additions would be SFNE. However, I'm trying to save money. Maybe next year.
Batman is a clone. Mr. Freeze is a clone. Boss is rough. Ninja is rough. Screamin' Eagle is fun, but about the only ride I really like there. If they get a mega steel coaster, I'll head down there. They just have anything that I absolutely love.
Hmm...isn't it a little early to start the "off season" topics? It's only June.

Ok, I'll bite. Jeeper's in Olathe. I mean whenever they build that 500' 16 loop giga water splash inverted choo choo I'll head down there. They just have anything that I absolutely love.

I love to hear people that live close enough to a Six Flags or a Paramount or a whatever complain because they didn't get anything new...Come live in Southern West Virginia!
Not too many coasters, but you gotta love that state.
Also until Mamba was built in 1998, the last coaster we got was in 1993 (Wacky Worm) and the last BIG coaster was Timber Wolf in 1989.
yeesh...
Actually, yes. Even if we only have 2 coasters state wide, I'm still only 4 hours from Dolly, Carowinds, then 5-6 from PKI, SFKK, CP, GLP, KW, BGW, PKD, SFA, Myrtle Beach. And we have mountains to slide off of.
Also there is no way that your fight song can compete with FIGHT TIGER. ;)
back OT: I am very jealous of your location. However I have (within a 4 hour radius) of me: WoF, SDC, CC, SFStL, AdvLnd, HW, IB, Joyland (that's pushing it) and SFGAm, SFKK, FronCity are only 6 hours away. :)
Actually, this issue is a Catch 22 for the smaller parks particularly. If enough people stay away because there are no new attractions, then the park doesn't bring in enough money to afford new attractions.
And in the case of the chains, they're going to allocate the largest share of their money to the parks that are already bringing in more people. So SF will continue to put more coasters in at GAdv and MM, and the DL people will continue to P&M. And if Hydra doesn't bring in the crowds to Dorney that were hoped for, CF may think twice before investing millions more in Dorney.

Tekno, I'd move to WV but I don't have any sisters I could marry. I don't even have a 12 year old cousin.
Har-de-har-har. At least you spelled my name right.
