what music gets you in the coaster mood

Any songs that I remember being played on the midway. :) And the country songs "Summertime Blues" (I think that's the title - CP used it for a promo for a few years awhile back) and the new sond "Desparado" -- no connection to coasters at all, other than the title, but whenever I hear it that's the first thing I think of. Now I just have to go on Desparado!

Wow, someone here likes Neutral Milk Hotel and Olivia Tremor Control. I love those bands. I like alot of indie rock like Sebadoh, Pavement, Guided By Voices, Sonic Youth, Belle and Sebastian, etc. I like British pop like My Bloody Valentine, Cure, Stone Roses, Ride, etc. I like underground metal/punk like Soilent Green, Acid Bath, Flesh Parade, Melvins, Zeke, REO Speedealer, Nashville Pussy, Dillinger Escape Plan, etc. Listen to lots of stoner rock like Fu Manchu, old Monster Magnet, Nebula, Electric Wizard, etc. My favorite band that is making music today is probably Radiohead. They are the only band in the MAINSTREAM that are pushing the envelope and actually creating NEW music. I think they are brilliant. I also love sixties rock. Beatles, Rolling Stones, Doors. Also love Syd Barrett era Pink Floyd, also like Syd Barrett's solo stuff too. Especially Mad Cap Laughs. Frank Zappa. Hell I could go on and on and on.............

I think everything's better with a mandolin. "

Don't make me pull out my list of mandolin jokes ;)

This discussion is reminding me just how out of touch with pop culture I am. I can count the number of songs/bands on here, that I've heard of, on one hand and still have some fingers left over!

I prefer to listen to Metallica and KoRn in the car on the way to a park. They are the greatest bands ever!

Jimmy... Cut it out... You're grounded!
When my brother and I drive to parks we listen to HARD, FAST music and we pump it up. Metallica, Megadeth, Korn, Limp Bizkit, Disturbed (possibly the best band of 2000), Linkin Park, and Papa Roach all kick serious ass!

(Driving at 80 mph to keep up with traffic while going around Dayton and listening to Metallica is AWESOME!)

No Bad Coasters, Just Some Better Than Others.
Ohhhh...I almost forgot, we listen to "walk" by pantera, everytime we go to cedarpoint. It gets us siked up.
Wow. Lots of Punks...more than I thought. And I thought I was a minority...

Sgonda-

I know it may be off topic, but what kind of MiniDisc player/recorder do you have? I've got the Sony MZ-R37. Just kinda wondering :).

Punk and metal, anything by new found glory, sum 41, limp bizkit, or linkin park.

INTAMIN2K - I have a Sony MDS-JE500 deck where I make them, and in the car I play it on my MD Walkman player MZ-E40 which came free with the deck. I run it through my car speakers thru my cassette deck. I love it! *** This post was edited by sgonda on 4/27/2001. ***
Something heavy like Metallica, Clutch, or Korn...punk, punk-ska. But since I'm a Jersey boy, I'm kinda partial to The Boss, Inspector 7, or, of course, The Bouncing Souls. The Souls really hit the spot though, major adrenline action when they're pumping!!
Nothing like getting pumped up to some good loud Pantera, Slipnot, Static X, Slayer...anything that moves fast with style and packs plenty of attitude!
Slayer is awesome to listen to while goin to a park too.
