what music gets you in the coaster mood

I have a ritual... when I'm driving and I'm getting REALLY close to the park, I throw in a cd that I burned that has the RCT opening theme on it. I have entitled that song, "The Happiest Song In The World". It's the perfect song for hittin' the parks.

Here are some of my songs which I need to get pumped up for coasters:

any Linkin Park
Madonna- Ray of Light
any Metallica
Orgy- Blue Monday
and some others....

One more thing, is there any roller coasters that play songs while you ride? If so, thats gotta be some crazy (in a fun way)...stuff:-)

Yep! What can I say? I'm a Garbaniac. :) If I saw Shirley I'd probably plop right down on the floor. God, I love her.

I kind of dissagree although I love bluegrass also. I think everything's better with a mandolin. I also like that someone mentioned Les Claypool's Flying Frog Brigade. Nice to see some jamband fans in here. My favorite music to get me ready for just about anything is the String Cheese Incident, hence.....

"I love Christian Rock! You should go download some of these. Here's a list...

Project 86 - "One Armed Man"
Toby Mac - "Extreme Days"
Supertones - "Escape From Reason"
Relient K - "Balloon Ride"

...and when I go to a new park, I'd listen to the Matrix song "Clubbed to Death". It sorta makes you a little edgy, which I like.

SFA, don't forget Nailed, Living Sacrifice, and P.O.D. Those are Christian bands that I listen to also.

I'll bet ya didn't even know the Lep had a 2 new albums in the last 6 years that were better than anything they had while "we" were in high school. Tragic that good music has been forgotten. To those who don't know of the Lep. They are second in album sales only to Michael Jackson.

It's still not tall enough!!!!!
Okay, Def Lep's music was terrible. And the performace was even worse. What was it about the 80's that made withe boys not wanna cut their hair?

The only thing that was really cool about that band was their drummer. He only had one arm and could still play better than most. That guy ROCKED!

I guess you haven't been to a show and you missed out on their height if a song from '92 is all you remember. Maybe that's why Matchbox 20 on their last tour said, "We've been to a Def Leppard concert so we know how this is done..." As to the second part, they had the shortest hair of the bunch and are not in the "Hair Band" category. They came along in '78 and helped put to rest disco...

DL are good entertainers (I saw them three times, '88, '92), no question about it. However, while the B-side album had their most brilliant material ever, the follow ups did indeed suck.

I wouldn't lump them in with the 80's bands, since largely every band in that era wanted to sound like them, but their ability to adapt in the post-grunge era has been mediocre at best.

Shirley is in final mixes now, by the way.

I wouldn't say they sucked, they did go Platinum both Slang and Euphoria. Slang being the better of the two. Jeff gets major Kudos for not doing the MTV lump thing. The last tour was a success by all means, almost back to their "In the Round" form.

I like most of Def Leppard's songs! (At least they have not turned out like "Danger Kitty" - the band in the credit card commercial.)

As for good coaster songs, there is one by Van Halen...Higher and Higher??? (run, run, runaway. Like a train running off the track.) You would know it if you heard it.
Good point Lorrie.. By the way, they're due for a new release too.

If I listen to I'm only happy when it rains when going to a park, I'd think I'm paranoid. I would not be happy if it rained.

Garbage is good, but I usually go with some Tool or Peppers on my way to a park to get pumped. This year once I hit the Chuasee or Causeway, I will bump some Millennium Force Remix's :)
Any four chord band -

Weezer
Smashmouth
Green Day
Presidents of the USA
etc. etc.

Try some next time -

Why would I go to one of their shows? I dont particularly like that style of music.

"They came along in '78 and helped put to rest disco..."

And that in and of istelf would be reason for me to hate them.
