Mine was the old pirate ride at CP, it is now an arcade. :( Anyone remember when Phantoms Theater at PKI was Smurfland of some such thing. We need a resurgence of the darkrides, and not the hi-tech ones like MIB, we need one using mechanical things like spings and corny soun effects.
On a side note, did anyone see the Simpons where Bart and Lisa went on that Haunted House ride at the Carnival, A spring poped out of the coffin, ghosts were painted poorly on the walls, a man was fixing something, he said"BOO" a skeleton dropped down and a "HEE HAAWW!" noise was made.---Lisa--"that was just confusing" very funny and true critique on the amuement industry.
mine was bear-y tales! it was a classic the look, the feel, the smells, truly a classic!

welcome one and all, y'all come have a ball!
Things a bear-y fine, ridin' on the old knott's bear-y line!

Ready for a joke?
So a baby seal walks into a club.
ROLLER COASTERS DONT COUNT AS DARKRIDES
Exterminator at K-Wood, by far. It's the best theming, best wild mouse, best dark ride I have ever ridden. Now, you say, what have you ridden, oh great Woody? Well, Space Mountain, FoF and Disaster Transport. Sorry, but gaining Rabies on Exterminator was the greatest thrill by far.

There's nothing like a woodie...
Probably the Haunted Mansion at DL with my girlfriend

Deja Vu - Think you've experienced it before...think again!
X - Xperience the Xtreme - It breaks all the rules!
Den of Lost Thieves at Indiana Beach. Better yet, it's interactive :)
i liked the mystery mansion at Indiana Beach. It was so cool.. had everything in flourencent colors and black lights, once in a while they played cool music in it like Pink Floyd's "run" or some really old music. Then they went to eerie pipe organ which got taken to the "new" Frankentein's Castle. I really thought the doors near the end of the ride was a nice touch with a stop sign and a do not enter, wrong way sign on the doors, and on you went thru the doors anyway to be greeted by a bus with its lights and horn.... really cool!!! With the black lights tho.. you really had to try to focus your eyes to get used to the dark.. A great ride!! ohyeah.. I do remember the Smurf ride at Kings Island too.. that was kinda a cool ride.

Haunted Mansion at Disney World!! It's even the longest darkride in the world.

If Millennium Force doesn't go upside-down, then how could Mantis?

m=Mine is flight of fear at kingsdominion.
Like no1 said Josh, rollercoasters are not dark rides even if they're inside.

The Mine of the Lost Souls at Conobie Lake was really fun and it was a long ride. The first 2/3 of the ride are great and the last two rooms rock! My only gripe is that there are cobras and egyptian curses hidden in a mine that is supposed to be an abandoned mine in New Hampshire. If you disregard the two Egyptian Rooms the ride is great.

Talon=Awesome
Pirates Cove at Waldameer in Erie, PA. "I ain't got no body! Or wacky schack which is also at Waldameer, it's a classic laff-in-the-dark

I'm suprised I haven't heard Noah's Arc yet. I like Pirate ride, but if you count coasters too, I liked DT also

You are the Weakest Link, Goodbye.
I liked "The Cave" at Six Flags Over Texas before they turned into a Looney Tunes ride. And, of course, Haunted Mansion at Disney is probably the king of dark rides.
I loved the pirate ride. I was so p*ssed when they made it into an arcade, which was after my first summer working at CP. I would love to see some throwback attractions at parks: haunted houses, cheesy animatronics, funhouses, etc. Does anyone remember when the pirate ride at CP was the "San Francisco Earthquake"?
Noah's Ark or "The Ultimate Trip" at CLP

HurricaneGeauga- Just in case
The Earthquake ride was located on the main midway and was replaced by Berenstein Bears some time ago. Cedar Point also had a funhouse (upside down) located somewhere around where the KiddyKingdom is now by the lake. This when the WildCat and Jumbo Jets were in the Disaster Transport area (my first trip to the Point was in 1974).
And to think, I LOST my CPOint map from the 70's that I dug up at my parent's house!!!
Why did they tear out the PIRATE RIDE at CP, anyway. It was the funnest ride there. It probably cost to much to maintain, and was destroyed for "progress". That is only the second mistake CP has made in her recent history. The other mistake being ripping out tons of trees to buid MF, CAMP SNOPPY, and MANTIS. The lagoon and CP&LE RR and FROINTEIR TRAIL used to be very nice and secluded until CP started "PROJECT DESTROY TREES".
Kennywood's 'Gold Rusher' is good, as is the 1901 'Old Mill'. But, this is 2001, and that new Men In Black at IOA is one butt-kicker.
