What is up with Six Flags!

I really think that Six Flags should work on their Columbus Ohio park, Wyandot Lake (so small it doesn't even get "Six Flags" in front of it...).  Maybe a new hypercoaster called Sea Dragon 2K2 or something?! :-)  One coaster just isn't enough!

Ohio...so many coasters...
...so little summertime.

Despite what my signature line says, I totally can wait for another year or so before SFKK adds another major attraction.  I'd MUCH rather see funds spent to improve the park in the areas of landscaping, theming, better employee training.  I'm hoping that the new sky coaster we got this year will be a little cash demon and draw some money into the park.  Unfortunately, I never see anyone hardly ride it!  I personally think there's a whole lot more room for SFKK to expand than we think.  Six Flags has the money to buy additional land from the fairgrounds I'm sure.  It's just seems like such a long time since we've gotten a major attraction and we look around at all the other bigger parks like PKI and CP getting huge investments and we tend to get a bit on the jealous side I think.  Just remember friends, patience is a virtue.    *yeah, tell that to my sig!  LOL

God please let SFKK get something in 2002. ANYTHING!!

I think SFKK sorta messed up when they built their coasters. They are all spread out to much. Don't get me wrong, I loved the park when I took a Theme park trip from Chicago to go to holiday world,SFKK, and SFSTL. The one thing I noticed between SFSTL, SFGAM and SFKK is that KK needs to work on their landscaping and theming. They have no theming throughtout the park . Another thing I found out that was diff in my opinion is that they hold their state fair at six flags?!?! BTW I think SFKK is getting a V2 so be happy with that.
Its competition people!  SFMM has Knotts and the DLR just down the 5 freeway!...you get the idea...
I was at Elitch Gardens in April of 1997, or 1998(don't remeber off the top of my head) just when it was being turned into a 6 Flags park with new walkways and scenery and paint schemes. I know that Mind Eraser was new and they were still working out the glitches, plus Sidewinder was all black(i believe). SFEG has VERY limited space especially since they have 2 major highways next to it, a train yard, that new football staduim right next to it( I HATE BRONCOS!) and the new Pepsi Center all within reachable areas for expansion. They did try a few years back to get they land where the staduims now sit for expansion but the city said no since plans were allready in the works for the staduims. I know i might be wrong on how close these staduims and stuff might be since i haven't been to Denver since then. But i do know that they were close enough to stop any hopes of expansion.

I agree! I live in Cleveland but I go to SFDL twice a month and they are in need of some MAJOR RIDES - and given that SFWOA has a height restriction of 180 feet, I would think that SFDL which is out in the woods would not have one they could build taller and bigger rides given them an edge over some of the parks.

Just a thought

If they build it they will come!

ALL CLEAR

Well if the small parks(SFDL,SFEG and SFKK) get something next year it will be cookie cutter. I KNOW that SFAW, if they get something next year, will be cookie cutter.

Ugh... I knew it had been too long since we've heard that.
Height restrictions are rare anywhere... it's the type of construction that is usually restricted, and in those cases they only need a zoning variance from the local planning authority. Height is only a component of that. In the case of SFWoA, the City of Aurora doesn't allow ride construction period in that plot of land. The park is trying to change that, but it'll be an up-hill battle with people living around the edge of the park, and in particular where they wanted to put a new ride.

cry babies... move nearer to a larger park if you want more coasters.  or better yet call 6 flags and cry to them maybe they will care that SFE OR SFKK.is not getting the coasters they think they deserve.. Becuase I sure Dont. I'm Living here in cleveland I Got CP, SFWOA, PKI, KENNYWOOD near by.  I say grow up and quit crying . If riding coaster is SO important move to a local that will satisfy your coaster cravings.

zzzzzz...

Gimme a break, dude.  I love rollercoasters MORE than the next guy, but no one is gonna MOVE to get closer to parks with big time funding for coasters.  You're missing the entire point of the thread.  It's all about wanting each individual's home park to be the best they can be.   That's like telling a Milwaukee Brewer fan living in Wisconsin that if he wants to be a basefall fan, then he needs to move to New York and become a Yankee fan.

(Again, this is coming from someone that lives 15 min away from SFWoA)
We don't need a giga or even a hyper. I'd rather see the next coaster go to a smaller park. I don't even want a giga or hyper. I'd rather go to Cedar Point. We don't need a new coaster.

Well I think that there is a huge market at SFDL because there are three good sized cities near by like Buffalo, Syracuse,Rochester,Nigra Falls and more which combined would put SFDL in a good spot to get some good park attendance.

sixflagshouston.com already did that. We wrote them a letter.

I also think that SFDL could get a relatively large portion of the Toronto metropolis area to the park with good upgrades

As Jeff said before, its all about business and profit, and complaining won't change that practice.  The major parks earn the right to get major coasters often because they can easily finance them and will make a profit from them.  Also, if you look at the major parks they are all in major metro areas or have lots of competition.

For example SFGAdv. is located in Central Jersey.  It draws from NYC, Philly, and from the Jersey Shore (which is packed in the summer).  Aside from being in a populated area, SFGAdv. also has competition such as Morey's Piers, Dorney (draws from NYC), and Hershey (draws from Philly).  In order to bring in money SFGAdv. has to be the best and add new attractions.  This practice in turn draws in huge crowds & profit and enables SFGAdv. to  purchase more coasters.

On the other hand, SFEG is by Denver and lacks major competition.  Even though Denver is a big city, it is tiny compared to NYC, Philly, and the Jersey Shore, the market that SFGAdv. reaches.

In other words, the smaller SF parks are most likely going to remain small if they lack major competition.

No i didn't miss the point at all ... Ive seen this thread before and some one always cries ...Boohoo SFMM, SFWOA,SFGAdv, SFOG dont need a new coaster,  SFEG, SFKK, needs them blah blah blah.  you can always watch your baseball on tv and be a fan miles away. So be a fan to SFWOA and say they need a hyper ! ( I just want the park to be the best it can... I Dont need to worry about cedarpoint they ARE the best )

Yeah Be a fan and never go due to SFWOA being 5 1/2 hours away plus my parents don't even like going to SFDL which is my home park. I'm not complaning but it is unfair for a huge park to get even huger and leave out parks which really could use an expansion and haven't had one in er.... 3 years. Where all the Really Huge parks havegotten 1 or 2 coasters every year. I don't have anything against any of these huge parks but I think that SFDL and many other SF parks have been left out of the loop where if you're park didn't get a coaster for 3 years I bet you would be complaining. Please don't argue because we all get angry when our park doesn't get an expansion it could really use it's human nature.

FAFL: the fight against fast lane

-----------------

cmon guys, competition & population & space matters are what you guys say a big park needs. Hell SFDL has all that.
1.) Competition - Paramount's Canada's Wonderland, Marineland's new expansion and the new 5 mile stretch that is being built on the canada side of the falls which will bring millions of people less than a minute away from Marineland.
2.) Population - Niagara Falls, one of the most widely seen landmarks in the world. Syracuse, Buffalo, Rochester, and even Toronto. During a Canadian holiday over the summer. The whole park was filled with canadians. I heard people talkin in line about that this park needs newer, bigger things other than Superman. Many people come to ride the coasters and when there is a two hour wait on SROS. They get very disappointed.
3.) Space - like said before this is the 2nd largest lot in the Six Flags chain. So we know space aint a problem.
Overall, this park has major potential to turn into a SFWoA or SFGAdv. We just need NEW rides, new rides attract people. If you want guests you need rides. You need to take a chance and build a big roller coaster at a small park like SFAW or SFDL. I bet Six Flags will surprised of the outcome if they were to do this. The Slingshot ride brought to SFDL for a short while brought them thousands of dollars just on this one ride. A silly little slingshot got them that much. Just think what a roller coaster or drop tower would do for that park. I say if you want to fill the hotel and that campground expansion you did to full capacity, get new rides and you will see how much business you will get.

1.) Beast 2.) Phantom's Revenge 3.) SROS (SFDL) 4.) MF 5.) Alpengeist

Call me crazy, but "Dennis's" two posts are two of the most selfish posts I have ever seen on Coasterbuzz.

Crybabies? Come on...Grow up. (Oops, I just remembered that was Jeff's catch phrase, sorry)!
