What is the big event in the amusment industry?

During this weeks CoasterBuzz (5/8/2006) podcast at about 20:20, Jeff says a major event is going to happen. While I know he can't say does anyone know what he might be talking about?

Could be something like Universal or Cedar Fair buying the Paramount parks in a bunch. Who knows! I sure don't.

Who knows? Jeff, for one. Are you sure he didn't mean major coaster event, like Holiwood Nights or the CBuzz event at PKI?

I don't think Jeff meant Beast Buzz, though it was odd that he mentioned it just after bringing up "the announcement" thing.

I do, however, think the "announcement" will be the sale of Paramount Parks.

Dental Plan! Lisa Needs Braces.

This is what Jeff said:

"Hey, another thing I wanted to mention while I've got some ears tuned into me here, something really big is going down in the ammusment industry, in a bigger sense. It's going to happen soon, I think and I hate to be vauge like that but there's going to be a major event, we'll just put it that way. And it's not Disney buying Pixar, which we'll also talk about next week. Umm, something kind of interesting."

Six Flags selling off more parks, perhaps?
That was my guess Moosh. I still think one of the "big boys" will be sold, but I don't mention it much because people think it's so "absurd". ;)

But the Paramount thing makes even more sense because that is something that could feasibly happen, like...soon! And the fact that Jeff squeezed that tidbit right between Cedar Point project 07, and Beastbuzz info...hymmm. *** Edited 5/10/2006 1:27:35 AM UTC by DWeaver***

Well I suppose we'll find out soon enough.

Hey...what are you playing with!?! ;)
Well, the bi-weekly poker nights at my house are pretty huge. I use a 4 seat table in the spare room for non stop cash games, and my 8 seat dining room for no-limit action. Quite the ticket I am told. Good times.

Venomous trouser snakes occasionally make their way into pants during the start of the summer season to escape the heat. He was probably yanking at one.

AJ - I host no-limit Tx Holdem games once a month...would love to join your game sometime ;)
I think its more of a change of trend. Just my two cents.
I like to just upcharge the no limit, and then just rake 5-10% of the cash, and then I cover the drinks, pizza, snacks. Keeps it simple.

People then have a better evening not having to dip again when the pizza guy arrives, etc. And, you have to play Sinatra, Jones, Manilow, all guys who play the Casinos. Keep the mood strong.

Then raffle off something great, like undrilled Stardust dice or something.

I just pay for the bevs and snacks out of pocket -- I make it up by playin well ;)
If Universal bought Paramount parks, That is the best possible outcome for these parks.

Paramount IMHO only improved the service of exiting great parks but the quantity and beauty of the parks suffered greatly.

If CF buys em, The Beauty will be gone completely but we might get some kick arse rides.

Universal can't buy anything until their own ownership issues are solved!

My guess is that Six Flags will announce the sale of a park... like a few others here.

What ownership issues? GE owns NBC, NBC owns the parks.

Since Jeff said "in a bigger sense" I doubt it would be a single Six Flags park, if it involved Six Flags parks at all. My guess is either Cedar Fair, or a large independant group are buying some of or all of the Paramont parks.
