Hehe. We originally had planned on staying at Dorney until mid-afternoon, and then driving straight back to Pittsburgh. During lunch at Red Garter, though, we decided to take the long way home and stop back at Knoebels again to use up the tickets we still had. If we didn't all need to be home for various reasons, I think SFA or SFGAdv would have been considered-------------

Ah, so that's why we didn't run into you at Dorney! We stayed at Knoebels longer than expected since we were helping our friends pack up everything at the campground. We got to Dorney around 4 and only stayed about 2 hours. It just gets frustrating when there's 2 whole people on a Talon train and they won't let you reride. It was just too tiring walking around when we were so exhausted from PPP. :-)

- SFA was *dead.* I got on everything but JJ (down all day) in two hours, and then piled on rides on Superman and the woodies before heading back to Pittsburgh.
There most certainly IS airtime in the back of that beast, but it's more about laterals.
-And there's also that 'blast' of lateral air that's fealt in the front of the train heading into the helix.

Sounds like I'm in the same boat as a lot of other people -- had a great weekend, but pretty tired today! It was pretty hectic -- SFGAdv on Friday (walk-ons!), the Covered Bridge Festival and PPP on Saturday, and Dorney on Sunday (more walkons, and my 150th coaster!) -- but it was worth every minute. I'll type up some trip reports when my brain isn't so fried (lack of sleep + Benadryl = fighting to keep eyes open :)).
As for the Phunfest, I thought it was great! (For those that were there, I was the guy wearing a Wicked Twister t-shirt.) There were definitely a lot of people there, but the lines weren't too bad. Even when the line for Phoenix was stretched back to the gift shop we only waited 15 minutes. Kudos to Knoebel's for having so many rides open and moving the people through quickly. Phoenix and Twister were both running great -- easily one of the best 1-2 wooden coaster punches I've ever encountered. The airtime on Phoenix was just insane...wow, does thing deliver or what?!
Of course, there were lots of people in costumes. Some of the highlights:
- There was a group that came as peeps from RCT! They all had bright orange or green t-shirts, and some of them had oversized foam cowboy hats. The front of their shirts said "Knoebel's Grove Guest #434" (or some other number). On the back was a different phrase from the game, like "I want to go on something more exciting than Whirlwind" or "I won't go on Phlyers when it's raining."
- There was a couple that came in painting clothes as the "Rolling Thunder Paint Crew." They each had a bucket of paint with instructions like "Apply sparingly" and "Re-apply every 100 years." We got a good chuckle out of this one because we had just ridden Rolling Thunder for the first time the night before.
- There was a group dressed as a harem calling themselves "Osama's Mamas."
- There was a group that was a scene from the Knoebel's Haunted Mansion. One woman was in a motorized car that resembled one of the ride vehicles, and as she motored along the others would perform effects from the ride. Very clever!
- One guy was dressed in a Superman costume and ghoul mask, and on his chest was a paper that said something like "Beware - cloned rides and single-train operation ahead." On his back was a paper that said "Superman - 666 Flags."
- One guy came as the cupola on Phoenix!
- There was a lady wearing a hockey jersey and half of a puck sticking out of her head, complete with fake blood. Personally, I thought that this one was pretty tasteless, as a young girl was killed by a puck this past year at a Blue Jackets game. Just my opinion.
All in all it was a ton of fun, and I hope that we'll be able to make this an annual trip.
Aaron, who hope this was somewhat coherent!
I thought the award for most tasteless costume belonged to "Osama's Mamas". Sorry, but I failed to see any humor or other redeeming value in that one.
The Haunted Mansion group costume, on the other hand, was VERY clever.

Hmmmm, could they be getting a little S&S tower too? That would be cool!

I don't think it's an S&S tower. I think it'll be a little more toned down than that. :)

Greg-
There are quite a few costumes that I don't "get" but they seem to win. IMO, the same people win each year, regardless of what they come as... perhaps there is a little "click"?
The witches that won did deserve the award... they looked realistic and wonderfully played the part!
Greg -
Agreed. Seemed pretty inappropriate all the way around.
That Haunted Mansion group probably would get my vote for best costume. They were very good, and you could tell that they really put some effort in to it. I also enjoyed the RCT peeps...something about that just cracked me up!
Edit: I forgot about the witches! Yes, they were all great -- I think they were the "New England Coaster Coven" if I remember correctly.

87 different coasters for this year and counting... 149 total!
-----------------
MarimbaGuy- Haven't ridden Whirlwind in years but it was open... I can't justify riding it when there Phoenix and Twister are around!
Coaster M&M- Dress up next year, even if you do as I do and just wear a good mask. You'll feel good knowing that you are contributing even more to the ambiance of the event.
ApolloAndy, Lets just say I have Homepark advantage! ;)
I've been flying on them every year since I was about 5 or 6. I go to Knoebels usually every Wendsday when they have the bargain night and do my Flyer/ Bumper Car marathons. I get lots of pratice for PPP!
Most times the GP pulls their kids out of the line when they see me in action. Heck! some people who are behind me give me an earfull too. The ride ops never yelled at me so I guess thats a good thing! One ride op even complemented me on my flying the other year! The flying is even crazier when there are only a few tubs with people in them. (I think it may go a little faster then)
I always wanted to get some video of me on them since you can't really tell what you look like when your on them.

Chris, glad to see you and Moosh were thinking about the (very) much less fortunate! Was it everything you had hoped? I bet!;) SRM can't come quick enough.....:):):) Did Moosh keep the goons at bay? Did Trouble Boy rear his "ugly" head???
....these and other questions shall be answered by....the days of our lives.

I got a B&M T-shirt!
The highlight of my evening was being laughed at by the Phlyers Phans for taking my camcorder on the Flyers to shoot POV. They stopped laughing when I was snapping better than everyone else on that ride (while filming too!). :)
HAHA John LOL
The idiots were all "Who is that idiot with the camera" and then after seeing your superior snapping ability they ceased to speak.
Another highlight has to be Kara, John, and My trip on power surge. Words cannot begin to describe our happenings there. I am still a bit queasy and I have to see the video.
Also
It's running in Physchotic mode.
Don't forget the pumpkin too.
No air on twister? What were you smoking I was bowing to the thing on the platform. I even kissed both trains it was running with crazy air, crazy laterals, and a million miles an hour. I finally "got" Phoenix as last time I rode it it wasn't all that and a bag of chips It was running incredibly. Both woodies were running incredibly. Got about 20 laps on bot and twister was the more amazing of the two. Both don't have a single dead seat and each ride is different depending on where you sit. Twister at the end of the night was crazy, the hop into the helix was ejecting you from the seat all the while being thrown to the right. I think I broke 3 ribs and I loved every moment of it.
We spent 12 hours there and still could have done more saturday. Amazing.
I had on the Magnum hat which everyone seemed to love.
-----------------
All I need is 4.5 million bucks and a half a mile long sliver of land and maybe someone could build me my very own Shivering Timbers.

Oh, that was you in the Magnum hat. Very cool.
Gregleg: You weren't the only one who thought that about the "Osama's Mamas" person.
I did like the Rolling Thunder paint crew. The Batman Ground Crew also got some great laughs.
Nasai: Yep, I had a great time. You have to come next year!!!! The only bad thing is it's over too soon. Sure the two woodies are mind-blowing, but the other rides are so much fun. I could have stayed on the bumper cars for hours if there wasn't a line. (Well, maybe it's physically impossible. Those things are BRUTAL!) I also wish I could have had some more quality time on the carousel.

PPP last year was by far *better* in my opinion.
I had a blast going to Great Adventure on both Friday (Dead) and again on Sunday (a little busier but Chiller was great as usual) and Dorney was pretty dead on Saturday morning.
The ERT wasn't as long as I remember it being, and it seemed that I did a lot more last year than I did this year.
Although talking by the campfire until 4 in the morning (yeah that was us..... so dont get mad!) made PPP the BEST!
Had a great time with some great people and not having to drive across the country (used planes this time) was EXCELLENT!
Phoenix was over-rated and I remember why I didn't like it last year, Twister was great and giving awesome airtime in the front few rows! I love that ride...
Can't wait for next year, already have PLENTY of costume ideas!

Darn. So it'll take me quite a few trips to get that good. My butt was really sore after only four, and only a couple snaps each I don't know if I could marathon them.
I'll tell you what you looked like though: Every time the tub hit the low point, the whole thing would slam down and shake back and forth violently. Then on the way back up, it would shake a bit, only to come back down and slam again! I was really impressed that you could keep it up for more than a few snaps, as my longest run was three snaps before I had to start over again.
-----------------
A rollercoaster? What's that?
-----------------
-Sean
The easiest thing to remember is to turn the rudder at each high an low point in the opposite direction. Basicly doing that you will snap almost every time. Maybe I shouldn't give away my secret. ;) Somtimes you can tell when your gonna snap super hard. When you dive down super fast (almost a nose dive) and cut the wing, look out for the hard snap!
Usually after about 3 or 4 rides my lower back will be sore for a few days. It's still slightly sore from my few rides at PPP. The one summer I basicly lived at Knoebels and my back was sore the entire summer!
Now I need to wait untill the end of April to ride again. :(
