The haunted river wasn't a log flume. The boats were kind of like Diamond Falls.
Now RY backwards can definitely use some work(as can that giant piece of firewood sitting nearby) but the forward side was running smooth as glass for the most part when I hit it back in july.
A good solution here would be to turn RY backwards forwards again & retrack firewood:the ride....umm Hurler & maybe throw some GCI M-flyers on it in the process as well, then again that'd be out of the question as GCI didn't build the ride & thus won't allow their trains to be bought for use on it.
still trying to think of a good signature...
I never said I hated Volacano. I said it boring [the wide sweeping turns did nothing for me] and headbangy [although only in the slow zero-g roll inversions]. The rest of it was smooth.

I really LIKED V:TBC though...sure, the inversions were repetitive and boring, and the theming wasn't up to MY *exacting standards*, but I loved the launches, esp. the vertical shot out of the Volcano...the SHAME of the ride is the fact that there's never any good SPEED during the "ride portion" until that last severe swooping drop...and then there's the brakes! Kinda reminiscent of PKI's mine ride, where the *build-up* takes you right into the station....
But, all that being said, if you've never seen them "clear the gas" from the Volcano at the end of the night, wait and check it out some night.....spectacular display! :)
At least the SLC's have some cushioning effect on their OTSR's so it does have a little give to it but the intamin's sure don't & believe me I've got more than enough experience riding the SLC's to notice the difference.
Dare I say it that even shockwave's restraints are more forgiving than V:TBC? & even then the only "bad" part is the transition into the helix coming off the hill following the loop, now if only SW's layout were more impressive & the paint job less ugly I'd actually be willing to ride it more frequently....well that & the horribly slow load times the ride generates on average.
Again, to make clear my opinion of the ride [as if it really matters or effects anyone else's opinion]:
1. Headbangy in the inversions
2. Smooth everywhere else
3. Nice launches
4. Drop into breaks kinda disappointing
OVERALL: fun ride, could have been more.

In all seriousness though, I have never heard of Volcano having a different layout. I find the ride interesting and I love how the train doesn't come to a complete stop before the launch... very unique. The ride itself is pretty mediocre to me, I don't like the slow zero-g rolls (if they really produce zero-g's) but its not something that I'm going to pass on the next time I'm at PKD.

+Danny, likes it ;)
Since the offseason is in full swing I need to work on my *girl* skills. It seems that anonymously posting on the Internets that I saw this hot girl while I was sitting behind her on Millennium Force, Gemini, Raptor, The Beast, and Top Gun all in one weekend didn't really work out for me. Unless getting a tattoo of a red hand print on the face is the "in" thing.
