Villain was my first CCI, along with my first coaster. I haven't ridden any other CCI's except for Ghostrider which was only 4 months ago. It used to be my favorite woodie (I had a heck of a time deciding between Villain and Lightning Racer) but now that it's gotten so rough i don't really like it as much. I think that the layout is great and the ride is awesome but SF needs to do a lot more work maintaining it. The first 2 drops are so painful. I rode it yesterday tho and it didn't seem as bad but it still didn't compare to how awesome it always used to be.

Hey, I love Wolfbobs. I want to say here and now that if the changes in Raging Wolfbobs are incredible and make the ride an instant favorite of everyone (stop snickering, it could happen), I would like to remind to all that I was always a fan in its previous bouncy self and always will.
Thank you, thank you very much.
The Villian has been the best wooden coaster in the state since 2000. Why? Because of its ballanced attack of speed, air and lats. Even after two years of degradation (which i primarily point to lousy trains, or should i say train), it still has a most incredible night ride, perhaps better than the Beast (although it's hard to beat running through the woods on a terrain woody). As for rough, any other wooden coaster in the state has seats that are as rough or rougher. The Beast gets more aclaim because it is in a respected park and has a longer history of excellence (even if it's reputation has taken some shots). Villian is still my number one woodie.

Kraxle, I agree about the Big Dipper being superior.
I think the Villain has a lot of good qualities, but the G-trains definately kill them all. I thought it had a nice first drop and laterals, and some great headchoppers. Get some new trains, and give the Villain the maintenance it deserves, and I think it would be a top notch woodie. I've never been on Ghostrider, but ride Boulder Dash, and then you will know how a CCI should run.
And a note about Wolfbobs, bigkirby...maybe I caught it on a bad day, but I definately thought that was the worst wooden coaster I've ever been on. The first ride was so bad, that the only reason I rode it again was to be sure it was really that bad. Almost made me wish for mean streak, lol.

For those that haven't ridden much out of the Ohio area, then of course you would think The Villain is top notch
And yet I've ridden in Pennsylvania, Indiana, most all of the East Coast, So Cal, and most all of the south, and I still think that Villain is top notch.
Granted, my last ride was on opening day of 2001, but at that time, at night, the thing was running just as wild and crazy as Raven and Legend, and I think everyone here would agree that that's saying something. It was pure insanity. Ad the air on THE DROP is just as big on the similar elements on Raven, Ghostrider, and The Boss, PLUS, you get all of those killer head choppers. How much someone likes a coaster is going to be comlpetely subjective, not based on how many coasters they've ridden, and you'r always going to find the exception to the rule with somebody.
As for CCI trick track - its never been something big and violent. In every case, it pretty much just jiggles you a little bit. Its fun just to know its there. :)

Bill & Ravenguy,
Lots of bad stuff has apparently happened to the Villain since opening day 01 and October 5, 2002. Only because I'm an enthusiast can I see what could be an outstanding layout through all the pain. I contribute the bulk of the blame on track maintenance, and the other to the G trains.
I'm a firm believer that if you insist on having G trains, you MUST keep the track in pristine condition or pay the price.
Good = MegaZeph Bad = Villain

Getting a B&M will always beat out having to take a BM.
Personally, I've never had any problem with the G trains, but I know I'm in the minority, and I can understand why others hate them. I like the feel of the ride they give, and they just track better than PTC's, generally, which makes up for the seating arrangements.
The thing that boggles my mind is how Dipper is so perfectly mantained, Villain has apparently gone down hill a bit (yeah, we've all heard the storys) and how RWB - well, we don't need to go there. Its like the guys from Holiday World work on dipper, the guys from SFWoA mantain Villain, and then the guys from SFGAdv are sent in to mantain RWB, or something.

2002 Coaster Count - Villain: 40 Magnum: 12 Millennium Force: 9
Villain was outstanding Saturday night. I would not consider it 'rough' at all. The air was great and the laterals were intense on the turnarounds. The train did seem to 'fight' that last turnaround, but was hardly anything that I had any issues with.

Most of you guys are probably used to either riding steel coasters and live in parts of California or down in the South where you can ride coasters just about all year long. One thing to remember is that Northern Ohio has harsh winters and the park is located in what is called the snow belt region of Ohio, which probably leads to the reason on why the ride is quote-on-quote "rough". One reason why Dipper is probably maintained more than Villian is because it's a landmark coaster. Another thing, maybe when CCI made Villian and gave it that name, perhaps they wanted to make the ride rough
Villian Rocks
Oh about the trick track, you can see it from atop the second hill and when you're coming down it.

There's no useful purpose in arguing over Villain...we all like what we like, and that's that. One person's crappy coaster is another person's No.1. There's no reason for anyone to feel personally offended if someone doesn't like a coaster that you rank highly.

Didn't know you ever got a *piece * to begin with there, 'moosh! To me, there is a big difference between "rough and tumble", which is a little bouncy and tosses you about a bit, and just plain rough where the train seems to keep slamming into the trackwork, tearing up train, track, and riders...
I like to be tossed around, a la Legend or Cornball, that kind of "jostling" is good for what ails ya...the "bouncing" that occurs on Psyclone or RT, that's good fer nothing!

I agree, 'Gator.
I feel many people mistake an aggressive coaster [Legend, Cornball, Coney Cyclone, Ghostrider as examples] as being rough. Rough, to me, is unnecessary jackhammering, shuffling, and potholes.
What I don't classify as rough is "airtime slams", commonly featured on Phoenix, Ghostrider, Riverside Cyclone, Skyliner, and as I hear from reports from this weekend Boulderdash, too.
But I fully understand that the casual, non-enthusiast rider wouldn't see it that way.

This is stupid question, I'm sure, but since I simply don't know, I'm going to ask it: what's trick track?
It's a quick piece of track tilting right-left or vice-versa...tends to "throw" riders around a bit...:)
bill, who STILL claims the BEST piece of trick-track I've seen was the old KC...

You forgot the "guys" part that is supposed to immediately follow that opening statement. ;)
That said, my favorite coaster in the world is Georgia Cyclone and I mean to tell you, when she's ornery (straight up Southern word), she'll make you blow snot bubbles (football term). So I don't necessarily need smooth and easy... I just need to be able to concentrate on riding AND toting a butt whoopin' (Southern term again), not just toting a butt whoopin'.
