Video of SFoG Goliath Testing

I see what you're saying, but I think that you know...in a vaccum like situation where your average park goer could ride Nitro and then immediately ride SFNE's Ride Of Steel, 9 out of 10 would pick the better ride.

I like the B&M hyper's well enough, but I think there's something of a disconnect between what B&M is building and what the GP can handle. Maybe this is apples and oranges here, but going to Holiday World on an average weekday, and seeing how many hundred 6 to 10 year olds ride the Raven, and then having my booty kicked by it every single time makes me think that taming down the designs is not always a good thing. i guess it all comes down to what has the most reridability year to year but I'm not convinced that B&M's snooziness is really all that more superior to Intamin's kick-butt-ed-ness.

How do any of you know what the "gp" prefers? Have you done studies that I don't know about?

Lines for all the modern hyper coasters I have ridden revently seem to be really long no matter who made it.

I agree with B&M Guy, this is a different type of hyper coaster and its going to be pretty fun. Maybe you need a new hobby if all you seek is crazy airtime. I hear skydiving is extreme.

*disclaimer, SMROS is my #1, while Nitro falls in my top five.

will this resemble the new ride at La Ronde?
Most people here are gp. Cosidering how many post how I havent been here or there yet. Maybe one day they all venture outside of OH.

I miss Drachen Fire

I just watched the video. I would definitely say the ride does not look slow at all. Especially entering the downward helix, forces will be had.

Ill just jump on the bandwagon of Goliath supporters until I get a chance to ride it. Maybe then I will change my tune.

I wont just keep saying what everyone else has been, but just to reiterate:

The ride will break in somewhat. Temperature plays a major factor in the way the train tracks the ride.

It doesnt even look like its running slow in the first place, so I bet after it gets running for awhile it will prove to be fantastic.

On Sfog.net forums i found some pics of the station... looks very nice..... colorful... six flags is improving, it seems, its appearance...

Also I cant wait to see people's pics tomorrow from Goliaths Media Day... *** Edited 3/30/2006 5:01:44 AM UTC by VaRyda***

The ride is not slow at all, and there is airtime on every single hill. The helix is awesome.

Initial reports were VERY good...please please PLEASE let them leave the braking as is for Spring Fling...PRETTY please?
Rode it today- it has fantastic sustained strong airtime on every hill, the helix is intense- I like it better than any other B&M hyper, it is easily in my top 5 steel.

By the time the Media Event started at 10:00, it felt like there was a slight trim brake on the ride right after the helix. It was very slight and did not take away from the airtime. At least it felt like a slight trim brake to me. I was very surprised by the ride, and I am pleased with everything the park has done with Goliath. The park looked great, and every employee had a great attitude. It was a great day at SFOG for me.

The only thing that trim does is convert ejector air on the final part of the ride to floater air... which is perfect.

Welcome back, red train, how was your ride?!
I don't know- by later in the day the airtime on that last leg was pretty darn close to ejector...
I mentioned something about that trim to a mechanic in the station and he said that it was speed sensitive. I don't know if all trim are this way or if they are set for a certain pressure, but the trims on Goliath weren't used early on for the early morning rides. Later in the day as it warmed up and the coaster sped up, it started to hit a littler harder.

It never took away from the airtime on the final hills, even when it was hitting kinda hard and the mechnic said that it would always trim it down to that speed going into the final bunnies. So... it seems like Goliath will always have the airtime on the final bunnies!

Happiness is like peeing your pants. Everyone can see it, but only you can feel the warmth. Trip pics are here: http://www.pbase.com/jhbd99.

The trim is speed sensitive, hence it probably bases the amount to speed to shave off on the speed of the previous train. That being said, they could still modify the severity of the trim while having it be sensitive to the speed of the previous train.

In other words, we can pray with all our might that Goliath's bunnies will remain intact, but I wouldn't bet my car on it. (Maybe my hat.)

sounds like an awesome ride... won't be able to make it this year, but maybe next...
