Video of SFoG Goliath Testing

Bad news 40below, Arrow was bought out by S&S so you won't be seeing another Arrow hyper.

Yep, I'm aware. But they are still in fact a company. They were not bought and eliminated. They still do coasters...notice that Large 200+ ft 4D going up in Japan lately? Avalanche? Powderkeg? From what I understand the previous Arrow designers pretty much had quite a role in all of these coasters, and I think they would be capable of designing an outstanding hyper. Alan Schilke is in my book, one of the greatest designers out there today.

The only arrow hyper I've riden before was Desperado at Buffalo Bills casino and I didn't really like it much after the first drop. From what I hear, Arrow hypers are rough but have nice air. I just didn't like the way it transitioned between sections or elements. But that first drop is amazing! Maybe if arrow introduced a new track style or concentrated on better transitions, then they may very well be able to closely compete with Intamin and B&M, sadly Morgans are duds to me.

^ They had already fixed the roughness, when they built this little looper:

I'm guessing someone's never been to Kennywood. ;)

Unfair comparison, Gonch...

Every other Morgan (i.e., "fully" Morgan coaster) provies that PR is an anomaly, something that neither Arrow NOR Morgan could've EVER done by themselves - not even with 1,000 monkeys and 1,000 typewriters...

And besides, how exactly do you add a monkey to payroll? ;)

See, I'm cool with the Morgans for the most part. They aren't list toppers, but they're cool enough rides.

If anything Morgans seem like the bastard child of an Arrow and B&M to me. Non-existent floaty air, but a layout you can feel.

Kind of the worst of both worlds, I suppose.

I'm so weird.

I get to do it all the time at Target. :) It's quite simple actually.

Just ask Six Flags !!!

Hey someone had to say it.

I miss Drachen Fire

Nahh, I haven't been to Six Flags but Mamba and Steel eel at sea world are the 2 Morgans that I've riden and yeah they aren't anywhere near my favs. But I must say that Steel eel was I guess somewhat decent considering where it was (in a Sea World park).

I will give props and admit Phantom's Revenge looks pretty awesome even though like you guys have mentioned isn't a full Morgan Coaster, it's about 2/3.
Unfortunately, I don't think that I'll be anywhere near there anytime soon to ride it.

I just finally watched the video. It appears to me that it crests those hills with a pretty good speed. I remember when I first arrived at the MIA parking lot in June of '98 and watched Timbers for the first time. I thought there wouldn't be any air over those enormous hills, but boy was I wrong!

Those Morgans, though, Mamba, the Eel, Steel Force....they FEEL like they should have something to offer...with better trains/undercarriages, I think they could give a REAL nice ride with the brakes turned down/off....I'd LOVE to just try one sans brakes....I guess it's kinda like those FEW magical brakeless rides I've gotten on Maggie...WAY too few, WAY too far between, and IMPOSSIBLE to predict (e.g., Steel Eel at the SWSA event, that thing sans MCBR, it woulda hit my top 10, really, it woulda)....

Nobody makes trains like Intamin....well, at least now that Giovanola isn't making 'em....can't SOMEONE build a steel-coaster train that FEELS like a Intamin but keeps people IN the train? Please? I'm really asking nicely... ;)

This Goliath looks NICE....maybe even a smidge better than LaRonde's (hard to tell from videos). But let's face it, I *know* what to expect...tall, fast, fun, family rides...business-wise, it'll be a HIT....not a doubt in my mind.

Mamba rocks with the trim on light. The first half is great no matter what. But with the trim on tight like it always seems to be now, the second half is a total bore. The helix is great -- powerful, but not too much like the Gio coasters. The second drop is one of my all-time favorite coaster drops--great air from top to bottom in the back, and a great kick up front too. *** Edited 3/24/2006 3:57:12 AM UTC by Acoustic Viscosity***

Yea, the lights in that video were kinda freaking me out, along with that hellish sound along with the video! ahhhh
Hydra the Revenge at Dorney was actually running a mixture of wheels last spring for the Coasterbuzz event--according to a park employee--and hence it had a fairly rough ride.
What is each type of wheel good for?

Probably this summer as well...it wasn't bad but I noticed the vibration.

OK Flame me if you want but, has anyone ever thought maybe the fine folks at B&M actually design their rides for a "floating" feeling instead of a "shoving you out of your seat" feeling? Enthusiasts were all part of the GP at one point and loved that "floating feeling", but just like a drug addiction they get used to airtime, and get bored with small amounts of it. Ride designers aren't payed to feed enthusiasts airtime addictions, but to please the general public. Get over it and go ride Magnum in row 1-3

^ LOL, Troy...suggesting Maggie, are you stealing Brad's thunder? ;)

Whilte *I* prefer the RoS-style EJECTION air, there's no way "ON PLANET EARTH" that I'd ever suggest a B&M was a poor *business decision*, or that the clientele won't LOVE it....if anything, the GP probably DOES prefer a slight dose of Nyquil over the 55-gallon drum of whoop-azz that IS...the Ride of Steel.
