Ultra Twister and SFA

I'm not suggesting an east to west travel. I'm suggesting a south to north travel, hence the word parallel. The ride station would be somewhere around the station of Joker's Jinx or further, since you must travel backwards to get to the lift (there's a piece of track that tilts upwards once you reach the end of the track). The mechanism that drops you down to lower track would be right next to the spaghetti bowl. Looking at the park from an old Mapquest photo though, there is one obstacle that might have to be rerouted--the train track.
I would think that they would have already gotten approval from the planning board if they were going to be setting that up. It makes me think that the coaster maybe going into storage and up for sale.
Aren't the old AW rides were being sent to GE for storage? I guess it could be that UT is only being stored at SFA, but I kinda hope it's planned for installation there at some point.

Tell ya one thing: if UltraTwister *does* end up at SFA someone here on CoasterBuzz is a pretty good guesser! ;)

I'm not saying your right or wrong just pointing out SF didn't seek approval from the planning board until after Tornado and Bahama Blast were built and ready to open in Hurricane Harbor. Backwards if you ask me but none the less that's how they did it.

A day at the park is what you make it!

Neither....fortune... ;)

Hopefully they assemble it so I can ride it in the summer! Now I have a reason to go to SFAm besides S:RoS.

If Superman is the only reason you'll go to SFA then you seriously need a new hobby.
Doing the measurements (w/ Google Earth at least), Ultra Twister would fit if it ran parallel to Joker's Jinx, but it would extend from just off the Superman logo in the pavement to perpindicular with Wild One with only a few yards to spare. The ride is massivly long and needs a big, flat area. Personally, I'd like to see it built as the star attraction on a new path connecting Batwing to Coyote Creek to complete the "circle".

As for if it will be built in 2006... well, as far as we know, work could already be underway. Most all of SFA is impossible to see from the road so who knows what could be going on back there and if construction hasn't started, that wouldn't be odd either. Most of the work on Hurricane Harbor didn't start until late February and the same can be said about Batwing and PBR. SFA wouldn't be conserned with having the ride ready for opening day... they never have been. SFA tends to plan rides to open Memorial Day weekend, and even at that, they're not even usually completly done at that time. Most of Hurricane Harbor wasn't completed until VERY late after the waterpark opened (when did Papaya Pete's open? July? August?)

ABout planning, like coasterguts said, Tornado and Bahama Blast were open when SFA presented their plans to the planning board. Don't ask me how that works, but that's the way it hapened. However, before the park pours ANY concrete (and we DID see this with Tornado and Bahama Blast) they need a building permit, and that WILL show up online, and nothing of the wort has shown up, at least not yet.

If I know my SFA, you can expect an announcement in about 4-5 weeks involving what (if anything) the park is doing for 2006.

If you can't stand the heights, get out of the line.

I wasn't trying to "nicker" your cookie Jimvy, I was merely telling Mooshie that you'd prefer "a fortune" to a CC cookie OR a raisin cookie...you're not very good with granted wishes, are you? ;)

Oh, and as much as UT hurt me, I would like to try again, it was exceptionally unique...

I loved UT. Tons of fun.

I'd go to SFA just for Wild One or Roar. Supes and everything else just makes it better. :)

Yeah really. The park gets a lot of crap but I love it. It's got everything I want....an Intamin hyper, a killer GCI, a crazy LIM (Joker's Jinx), a decent classic woody, and a Vekoma flyer.

What more could a girl want? :-P

It's a decent park. I have no complaints. As far as the Ultra Twister I am not crazy about them. The one at Great Adventure HURT, and hurt bad. But I will try ANY coaster once.

The one at SFAW came from Great Adventure. Its the same exact ride except for the 45 degree lift. *** Edited 1/17/2006 5:55:45 PM UTC by jonrev***

"A killer GCI" I take it you didn't ride Roar last season? that thing is beyond killer it's so rough that it's becoming almost unridable....dare I say it but I'll take ME over it any day.

Anyone hear about the supposed retracking work Roar's getting? they need to do more than just retrack it,throw in some M-flyers & it just might become an enjoyable coaster again like it wsa in the early years of it's life.

I also loved UT. Oh wait...we were on the same ride. ;)

Really solid air on the first drop and the hill and the twists were just darn cool. I don't know 'bout you Matt, but I didn't feel any banging at all.

Hobbes: "What's the point of attaching a number to everything you do?"
Calvin: "If your numbers go up, it means you're having more fun."

Coasterqueen, I also like SFA. They have a very nice assortment of coasters, Supes, Batwing, and Wild One being my favs. It's a great park. The addition of UT would just add to it. :) I haven't been on it, and it looks interesting.

CP was amazing, going back next June to ride Maverick

Too bad SFA doesn't take good care of their Roar, SFMW's is retracked a bit each year, usually in the problem areas (bottom of second drop) and an aditional 500 or so feet.

Ultra Twister is a Togo. An old Togo. I've not had good luck with them. :( It might just be going into storage, although wouldn't Fiesta have some spare land if this was the case? With the new guys up top though, who knows what will happen.

Ultra Twister is kind of like a car manufacturer where you hate all their products, except for that one that you're like "Hey, that's pretty good" (even if it is made by that company).
