TV Alert - Cartoon Network

This will be of special interest to anyone over the age of 30 [or anyone who also remembers Laugh-In]. Cartoon Network now has a program called "Boomerang" in which they repeat kids shows from the late 50's thru the mid 70's.

Today at 5pm and 1am they are showing an episode of "Banana Splits." While the actual program content now seems pretty lame, the credits [especially the end] do have some pretty cool footage of a very early Six Flags over Texas and the soon-to-be-history Coney Island in Cincinnati.

It is so funny how many blank stares I get when I mention the "Banana Splits" show. I had always assumed that the park shots were PKI as they all looked like the same things from the Brady Bunch episode at PKI. Oh well. Moosh would know better than I and my frail memory :) Now I gotta get out of work early today to catch the opening and closing sequences :)

Anyone played Super Mario Sunshine yet? I heard there is an amusement park level in that game.

Umm, Im probably gonna get beat up for this but............the footage is Kings Island on the opening credits.

Kick-the-Sky - believe me I didn't figure out the park footage from memory and to be honest I'd always assumed if was PKI, too, for the very same reason [damn you, Mike Brady!].

Cricket - SFOT and Coney are the only parks listed in the end credits.

As long as we're reminiscing, anyone remember Martha Raye on "The Bugaloos" ???

5 p.m. today? I just looked at the program guide and it doesn't show the show is on. Not 5 or 1. Also Boomerang has been on awhile, and there is a boomerang station now that specialises in the old cartoons.

Glad to know I'm not to the only one old enough (if 29 is old) to remember growing up watching Banana Splits. Love the adult swim toons too - always been a Brak fan, since the days of Cartoon Planet on TBS.

ah, 'moosh, you're already the "-EST"....I couldn't live out there where you have to get up at 8 am sharp on Saturdays to atch the "real" football games....of course, you can ALWAYS watch West Coast er, high school football instead....ouch!
