Track at SFMM

I'd also like to add that I found SFMM beautiful as well. The walk from Viper to Deja Vu, in fact, that whole area of the park, is as pretty as anything at BGW in my opinion. Oh yeah, and the Goliath area is wonderful as well. Sure, the RR and B:TR areas are pretty ugly, but that's what the theming calls for, and its not like the whole park is that way.

I dunno, the woodies @ SFoT and SFA seem pretty well maintained.

Eh?! SFoT takes care of their wooden coasters? Wowza, Texas Giant was such a pile of garbage when I rode it last year in May I couldn't believe it had ever won #1 coaster on the planet. Trimming a ride in three different locations and still having it be pretty "rough" is not what I call pretty well maintained.

Sounds like they must have done something to it this year if you thought so, though.

No it's not as beautiful as anything at Busch Gardens.

Well thanks for thoughtfully refuting my completely subjective opinion. :)

Well remember, it is very rare that I will call a ride "rough". But I am in agreement with the puzzlement behind the #1 ranking. It didnt *do* anything for me. Though one of the people I was with declared it as his favorite and he has FAR more coasters under his belt than I.

I dunno there jeremy....one of the smarter people I know says: "It doesn't TAKE all kids, that's just what we got"....;)

Once again I should clarify myself as I never should have used the term "doesn't take care of.". Most rides are taken care of, including wooden coasters. But there is an "art" and a "pricetag" to making a wooden coaster run like Raven or Tremors. Not just for a couple of seasons, or once or twice every few seasons like I notice in most parks, but for the lifetime of the coaster. Large chains just do not have those resources, and boy does it show. For every Roar and Viper(two coasters that were designed well but still have their sqaure wheel moments), there are many more Psyclones, Villians and Mean Streaks.

A floorless for SFMM was the best choice IMO. A very clever move by SF. It was wise of them not to try and top X so soon, yet to most people who aren't coaster enthusiasts, this will be just as facinating a ride. "Wow, the floor in the station drops out, the loops are HUGE, and it is open everyday"!
