Wow, I had just the opposite reaction to Superman in Madrid! I've ridden 4 floorless coasters, plus Hulk and Kumba, and about 350 coasters overall and I thought Superman at WBMW in Madrid is EASILY the best floorless coaster I've ridden and my 2nd fav looping coaster only bested by Dueling Dragons! It is faced paced, has 3 good airtime moemnts, and a wonderful layout!
I've been wishing for a clone here in the States somewhere, preferably at SFA! Trust me, most people would LOVE a Superman:Atraccion de Acero clone!

I, am nobody, and nobody is pefect!
I think magic mountain, needs something more predictable then a B+M floorless coaster, seeing as how they have been popping up everywhere like a bad disease. unless, they were to make a flooreless, with a launch like that of on the Incredible hulk, to bring people to the west coast.I could see that happening.
I think they should take that money and put it into keeping the park clean, and maybe going with say , intamin for something more unique, like a custom LIM launched inverted from intamin, or maybe save money for rocket coaster, to compete with knotts berry farm. I think they really need is a good woodie, It seems that today, many parks are not considering buying much wood coasters, most likely due to maintenance costs I think, but i could be wrong. I think a nice new woodie from GCI would be great for them, and after seeing the quality they put into there coasters, six flags magic mountain would have a winner and not be dissapointed.

It is your opinion when you say the Floorless coasters are that bad in which you refer to them as a bad disesase. I'm sure you haven't ridden one of these either.
And what is this with the stereotypical "Six Flags must mean dirty" crap. When I visited Cedar Point late this summer, I saw an equal amount if not more trash and debris than I do at Magic Mountain. So don't start on this whole "the park is dirty" crap, because practically all parks on a certain level have the same trash problem. As for the park building something "unique" rather than a proven, high capacity ride, I think you are wrong. If case you haven't noticed, the park's two previous rides are just that. Unique and "never before seen." X and Déjà Vu. What the park doesn't need anymore is another problematic, late opening, low capacity ride. A Floorless would treat to that problem and eat up lines from other rides at the park. As for your Rocket Coaster suggestion - I don't think so. What makes you think that Magic Mountain must install a Rocket Coaster just to compete with Xcelerator? If that were a working theory, then Magic Mountain would build an S&S tower, an Intamin River Plunge, a Zierer Tivoli; while Knott's attempts to put in a giant stand-up coaster, an Intamin Reverse Free-fall coaster, and a Giant Inverted Boomerang.
kRaXLeRidah, no i am not saying the Floorless coasters are bad like a disease, plesae forgive me for my poor choice of words, I was just thinking, that it seems like that I think they could use wooden rollercoaster, and that it seems alot of parks are getting floorless coasters, which is great, I mean floorless give an incredible ride and intense, i just thought it was predictable thats all.
I think magic mountain coudl use a woodie, thats all..
As for the park as for the dirty park, notion, I didn't mean for it to come out that, way, all i meant was thatt maybe they could add some new scenery or flowers and keeping th park beautuful , i know it didn't come out that way, if i offended you , sorry

WoodFan - SFMM may not be landscaped as well as Busch Gardens but it is filled with trees and has nice landscaping...what SFMM have YOU been going to?

I was just disappointed with Viper and Revolution

Is it a dream or a memory? It's both, it's X
Let's face it, SFMM already has 2 wooden coasters, so another wooden coaster would be nothing new. They have zero "floorless" coasters, so that's something new and different. (even though they have 3 "feet dangling" rides)
SFMM likes to break height records with their new rides, and the "worlds largest woodie" would be a very difficult and expensive proposition. That, and SoB received mixed reviews and had problems upon opening. Getting the "world's largest floorless" (if that is what they do) would be cheaper, and have with it a virtual guarantee of it working well right "out of the box" and being a hit.
New mid-sized wooden coasters and mega-parks don't seem to go hand in hand. While you and I would love to see a GCI at SFMM, it just doesn't pack the kind of marketing punch that a record beraker would. After all, what gets the most TV time on Discovery Chanel? Usually the tallest and fastest. We sure saw alot of Millennium Force and Son of Beast (despite Sonny's problems) on camera after they opened, right?

Not to mention, large mega-parks just don't take very good care of their wooden coasters.
PKI doesn't count?

Yes they do. The Beast is a mess IMO. SOB doesn't count because it's not very good to begin with.
Just because a park has wood all over the place, doesn't mean it's any good.

The Beast is a mess...in what way? Do you not like the ride, or do you think its poorly mantained? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought you were talking about how well mega parks take care of their woodies, and now it just sounds like you just don't like them.
Same with SOB - you don't think its very good to begin with - but I still thought the issue was how well they take care of it. And a hell of a lot of people think it gets better every year. And you didn't even mention Racer. I was always under the impression that PKI's wooden mantinence team was one of the most respected in the business, regardless of what anybody thinks of the quality of the rides.
I'm confused.

I found the Beast to be about as overbraked and rough as a wooden coaster can get. That may or may not be directly the fault of PKI, and that's not really what I'm saying. I'm not blaming anybody, but when I want to ride a great wooden coaster, I do not choose mega parks as my destination.
I'm pretty sure the maintanance departments don't sit on their hands and just let their wooden coasters go to hell, but the seem to anyway in most cases. All you have to do is compare the way Holiday World takes ultimate care of their wooden coasters to ANY of the major chains, including ones that have CCIs of their own.

I dunno, the woodies @ SFoT and SFA seem pretty well maintained. But on topic, a floorless may indeed be the BEST coaster for SFMM. Fun, reliable and a people-eater. Do you, as a park operator, really want anything else from your rides?
