Yeah, what he said.
The effort they put into events and enthusiast directed PR seems to suggest they value that word of mouth.

Calvin: "If your numbers go up, it means you're having more fun."

I'd agree with Carrie[.] I spoke to a guy a few months ago who was a huge Kennywood fan. He told me it took him 2 seasons to work out that they had removed the inversions from Phantom - "I couldn't quite put my finger on it". Madness.[/.]
2001 at Kings Island, people were getting off of Flight of Fear and looking at their photos at the ride photo booth. Above the counter was a row of monitors showing the on-ride photos. Surrounding the monitors, above, below and to both sides, were images simulating on-ride photos.
The simulated on-ride images were a couple of years old and you could clearly see the pained expression of the rider having his skull bashed in by the shoulder bar. The "live" images were a few minutes old and you could almost see the lap bar in the shot.
People exiting the ride and looking at their photos knew something was different but they didn't notice *what*...even with "before and after" photographs RIGHT IN FRONT OF THEM.

...There may also be a significant advantage to getting them ready so they can demo them in action to potential customers. We've already talked about the Iron Horse TG retrofit being a possibility for some of the less popular woodies. I'd think GG would want to have a demo available as soon as possible to get the jump on any such business.
Notice that I suggested that they might want to get real people into the trains before November 16.:)

I, for one, am expecting these trains to transform the wooden coaster-riding experience in the same way El Toro did for me! So I am very much anticipating them, and have spread the word to non-enthusiasts who are leery about wood coasters due to their rough reputation.
I won't be surprised to see a Timberliner for the CB event there, nor will I be surprised if its not running. It could be very useful to run the trains for even a few days to get feedback from a larger sample size.
People like the coaster buzzers, I would think, would provide some of the best constructive criticism for the ride. This would get them quite a bit of time to rework the trains in the off season.
Paula posted a picture of some of the GG drawings on FB.

I emailed them a while back about this. They will honor the ticket this year and next. They even said when I register for Holliwood Nights next year to send that along and they would use it. Can not remember but might have to pay a small amount to cover other stuff but who cares.
They are just the friendliest place on Earth.
Cant wait till next year.
I recall when they were trying to get Ravine Flyer 2 opened by the end of the month of their fiscal year so they could start depreciating it or something. It didn't happen. But, that being said, I wonder when HW's fiscal year end is.

Jason: That sounds like Busch Gardens closing the Big Bad Wolf on Labor Day weekend and then just letting it sit all through their late season instead of running it through the end of the operating season...allegedly because of some issues surrounding the fiscal calendar.

Well, I made the decision to go ahead an mail my Fall Affair registration tomorrow. If I'm counting right, they have 9 more weekdays to test before the event.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed, but if they're not ready maybe Holiday World can give us a substitute. Maybe something like free parking or all the soda we can drink. ;)

How about they just give out Timberliner t-shirts that we can wear while riding? Then we can say...
"I rode in a new Timberliner at the Fall Affair!"
Two questions
1. Anybody heard anything about the TL being running for CB Fall affair?
2. It is a little too late to send my registration in and I will be coming on a last minute (if TL are ready, I will be there for the event, if not, just there fro the day) will there be on site registration?
Also, don't forget to bring a card for Frieda, the lady who used to take care of the flowers at the park, her 100th birthday is the 22nd.
The Timberliners will not be running for Fall Affair, unfortunately, but there's a reasonable chance that we'll get to see them up close. Mike Graham will be there as well to chat about them.
Yes, there will be on-site registration. The price will be whatever the next $5 increment is over the pre-registration price.

Thanks for the reply Jeff, with that information, I will probably be down there for the day, but not for the event. I need to get one last few rides on the Beest before it goes into hibernation for the year.
