I am perfectly capable of evaluating a coaster based soley on my experiences riding it. If one of the coasters at the bottom of my list of 80 woodies [PGA's Grizzly, SOB, or Psyclone for example] were magically moved to Holiday World but still ran the same way, they'd still rank exacly where they do. Likewise if Raven or Cornball Express were at SFEG but were still as balls-out wild they'd still be my #1 and #2.
Other enthusiasts, however, can't separate the park from the coaster, and that's neither good nor bad. We all have our own methods, plain and simple.
I appreciate Jeremy's efforts to start a dialogue, tho. Too bad it got mired in a lot of mud-slinging.

Well, if you're gonna get *mired*, the MUD is the place to do it....
bill, who just CANNOT seem to resist...;)
If there is any truth in a Rideman post indicating that GCI will not allow less than zero-g veritcle (i.e. no negative-g/ejector air) in their designs then it is easy to see where a lot of other designers (CCI included) will leave GCI stuck to their one-piece foundations as the air-whores go rushing elsewhere in search of the perfect ride.
The only GCI I've ridden is ROAR west, nice (using the word in both good and bad way) but just shy of top ten reach in my book.
A great roller coaster merely tolerates riders. It does its darnedest to toss 'em out without pain or leaving marks when the ops aren't looking.
Mamoosh - I've said it before, and I'll say it again: Stop making sense.
gator - I would prefer to wallow in the mire.
boblogone - Have you ever been to Vancouver? There's a Coaster there you may like. ;)

chris - I'll stop making sense if you stop speaking in tongues ;-)

....but 'Moosh, it would "appear" that chris has crossed the threshold of Aldous Huxley's house, and has joined *Jim* on the other side of the Door(s) of Perception....
bill, just lighting a bit of a fire....;)
Nice challenge to chris, 'Gator! LOL! Will be curious to see how he connects the two ;-)

I saw the Warning Sign, but decided to Break on Through (To the other Side).

LA Woman? That reminds me of when I Had a Girlfriend who was a 20th Century Fox, but now I Can't Get No (Satisfaction).

~BTW, I've been on one CCI, it has the G trains, & I prefer that very train to any coaster train I've been on. Plus, airtime can be very, very overated, some rides are not about air.

"Beast, Son of Beast, Georgia Cyclone, PKD's Grizzly, and jeez, to pick a fifth would be ripping a few rides off. I'll just say, well I can't. Alright, I like the front of the Hurler at Carowinds.
As for location, what did CCI put near me? Not a whole lot, I've only seen one, still never seen a GCI. "
Heck, if you've been on those 4 coasters then you have been quite close to CCI's and GCI's! Stop and ride some next time, might just knock all of those coasters off your list...except for GA Cyclone of course! :-)
While they are not airtime machines, I've certainly experienced considerable airtime in GCI coasters. Roar East has pretty minimal airtime in the dry, but it can get pretty impresive in the rain. Wildcat has excellent air in the back. And Lightning Racers has some nice floater air.
I feel CCIs rate high because:
1) They have built a number of great coasters, though they have also built some dogs.
2) They have built a number of coasters with exceptional air time that enthusiasts love.
3) There may be some halo effect at nice small parks.
4) But there is also a tendency for small parks to take better care of woodies. (Though some large parks also do.)
The Halo effect does have its limits though. It won't make up for a bad coaster or even a fair one. Indiana Beach has number 15 Cornball Express and number 96 Hoosier Hurricane, even though HH really isn't a bad coaster. Michigan's Adventure has number 2 Shivering Timbers and number 127 Wolverine Wildcat, which is pretty bad.
