The Unexpected

Unexpected from one of my old hometown parks: Riverside Park being taken over by Six Flags.

Unexpected from one of my current hometown parks: Sea World Orlando getting that big, blue, beautiful steel monster known as Kraken. ;)

I would have to say SFGAm making American Eagle go backwards for this season. (I knew there were smart people at Six Flags;))

Six Flags-Its everywhere you want to be...sadly:(

I'll go with the Flying Unicorn....call it a "little girl's coaster" if you want, that'll just mean fewer people in line.....

And at Wild Adventures, a Power Surge......who'd a thunk? After getting hooked at PPPPP, next thing I know is a version 100 miles away.......:)

Wow...what a hypocrite.

I think the most unexpected thing that SFWoA has done is bought the Sea World side. I wasn't expecting that for atleast like 5 years...then bam...I thought it was just a joke at first. That was an amazing day...opened up sooo many possibilities.

SFGAm actually DROPPING admission prices a few bucks 2 years ago.

WHOA....I still can't believe SF would drop prices. That's just too un-SF. Whoever pushed that through probably got fired the next day for breaking SF's golden rule: rip the guests off at all costs (no pun intended).

PLEASE READ: This post wasn't meant to offend or anger anyone; I apologize in advance if it does. So please don't post a reply just to rant about it. :)

The most unexpected thing I've seen my park put in was the Frog Hopper at Cedar Point! That thing is so scary! I'll never even want to get wtihin 50 feet of the ride. That's why I have to go around and take the Frontier Trail everytime I want to ride Gemini. :)

Seriously though, I think that most unexpected thing was the location of MF. I don't think anyone could have imagined a ride of it's magnitude placed where it is, but the park made it happen. Let's just hope they surprise us again with some crazy design with their next coaster.

LocoBazooka--Sevendust, Nonpoint, Stereo Vent, Mushroomhead
Korn Tour (With no name)--Korn, Puddle of Mudd, Deadsy

SFDL superman ride of steel
sfmm getting goliath , x ,dejava and goliath jr in 2 years

I just want to ride as many coasters as posible

Well, SFGAm is my home park, but IB is my second home park. I don't think anybody expected LoCoSuMo and Cornball Express with how cramped for space IB is.

Top books:"Rusty Bedsprings" by I.P. Nitely,"Half-Mile to the Outhouse" by Willy Maykit and Betty Wont, and "Spots on the Wall" by Huflung Pu.

The "new" V2 at SFMW(after initial pre-judgements from enthusiasts) going on to become the sleeper new coaster of the year. Once again proving that no opinion on a coaster is complete without an actual ride on it.

"Escuse me, can you tell me where the heck the Mystery Lodge is"?

It has been brought up before, but AE [sdrawkcab] is probably number one. (Before you ask me what that word is, think.) :)

Actually, maybe the fact that Shockwave (damn) and Whizzer (whoo!) still exist is pretty unexpected.

Marine World moving to from Foster city to Vallejo. Never thought they would move an entire park across the bay and beyond. Then after that, Marine World adding rides(Boomerang, Poppie's Seaport, etc.). Then Marine World began to be run by Six Flags.
I can't believe nobody has mention PKI removing Phantom Theater! One of the biggest surprises I've ever had was signing on with a weeks notice and no way of getting to PKI in time. I expected replacement/renovation this year, but never half way through the season. Although, I have my mind made up on what they're up to, and it's gonna be good!
Matthew
I expected PT, sometime this season, also FoF getting lap bars NO ONE suspected.

WCUSA-The World's largest theme park is coming!
Theme parks will NEVER be the same!

I have to agree with you there, Chris if that is indeed the case.

I can't say Xcelerator was totally unexpected. I had been piecing together elements of the ride for a while prior to the announcement.

What was unexpected about Xcelerator was the depth of its theme. I certainly didn't expect such a first class theming job to be done, but it sure was! Classic cars around the ride and in the queue, old auto parts and repair shops. And those damn sexy trains! I really didn't think the theme would be as elaborate as shown in the concept art, but boy was I wrong!

Xcelerator-
0-82 in 2.3 seconds! =Wow!

Yep, I think Cedar Fair has actually had better theming put into Knotts than what was put in Post Walter Knotts, everything except camp snoopy. I mean Xcelerator and Ghostrider, even Perilous Plunge with the elaborate Harbor scene are all better themed than windjammer (the theming was far more intresting than the ride), jaguar, and big foot rapids.
SFMW building a coaster over the hight limit... very surprising... and to know that SF doesnt own the park and just runs it.

Yes, you can call me a SUPER time waster.

Universal building IoA, but that was awhile back.
