The Ultimate Six Flags Trip

I think with the proper amount of planning any trip is possible.

While I would *never* do a trip like the one mentioned in this thread, soley because you are skipping so many quality parks nearby in favor of some less than stellar SF parks (SFEG, SFAW only really :)), I wish you the best of luck and hope you have an awesome time.

From one insane trip planner to another!

I totally see what you mean about missin out on some great nearby parks -- but I will save them for another upcoming trip--I want thisto be strictly six flags just to keep a theme to the trip and say I did it-- but i do realize some of the parks arent the greatest around
SoM,
I'm just curious about your modus operandi. How are you defining "hitting" each park? Technically, you could just pull into the parking lot, cross it off your list, then drive on. Are you trying to ride all the coasters at each one? Or just the "big" ones and a couple of flats?

By "hitting" each park I mean I am goin to ride all the roller coasters available (like the ones that aren't broken down or whatever) to ride at each park. After I've ridden each one, I will then go on whatever flat rides I have time for (preferably the big ones like drop rides, water rides, etc.)
My last park has changed from Elitch gardens to St. Louis so that i can celebrate close to home and end my trip at the six flags that was the first amusement park I ever visited in my life.
Ah, skipping SFEG? :(

You are bold, but are you also...daring?
no-i'm not skipping elitch gardens--it will still be my second to last park, but kentucky kingdom and great america will be my first two.
San Francisco to Denver? OUCH! Driving on those mountains is not very fun, especially if you have a smaller car.
I love that drive--it's one of the most beautiful drives ive taken--the mountains are great, but i do own a vw beetle, but it's made it before
Good luck on your trip. It will be extremely dificult and most likely you will change your plans mid stride. However, no matter what happens, you will remember this trip fondly for the rest of your life. Take some good friends with you.
Maybe you can get Six Flags to sponsor you? :-)
Actually, Chad, that's not a bad idea. Your trip could make for a great Marketing tool. I'd at least mail (pen & paper) the Six Flags HQ and explain what you're doing. What's the worst that could happen?

Excalibur Crew for 2002!

Who else here has been to all US Six Flags parks? I just realized that I've been to all of them.

I almost can't count SFGAm though, I spent exactly 5 hours at that park. :(

Have you ever considered that maybe it's not the park that's the problem, but YOU?

(low blow alert)....actually the WORST that could happen would be to have a SF marketing "genius" in the car during the whole trip!

what site will the trip report be on

DWeaver, I have been to all SF US parks except SFEG. Which one is your favorite?

Mine is still SFGAm.

Wow. That's one hell of a plan. In a Beetle is the stuff that "Bad road trip movies" are made of. Unless you mean a New Beetle.

Why hit hotels? Much cheaper if you just plan to camp most of it.

Also, you ARE taking someone with you to do half the driving, yes? I can't imagine trying to pull something like this off solo, with two it could be loads of fun, plus the additional expense is a whipping $45 for another season pass

Hymmmm.... I really love the Texas parks Legendary, SFOT and SFFT. They're more old-fashioned and authenic than the rest. SFGAm is great! It was awesome seeing the perserved theming of the park as compared with PGA where most of it's been stripped away. How come with all the bashing people do of SF, they never get credit for the beautiful job they've done with that park? Give me a break! I can't wait to go back, like I said , my visit there was all too brief and most of it was spent riding Raging Bull(at the time my first B&M hyper).

I also really like SFNE, SFOG, SFGADv and of course SFMM(my homepark). I have an obvious love/hate relationship with SFMM, currently I'm a bit disappointed with the way the park is being run, but it is my homepark and they do have X, so what can you do? It works out something like this: SFFT, SFOT, SFGAm, SFNE, SFMM, SFGADv, SFOG, SFMW, SFA and then the rest which in my opinion are VERY poorly run(although I do love the rides at SFWOA. :)

One question.......can I come?

Millennium Force......It has its ups and downs.

If I had a choice between stuffing my face with mediocre food at a buffet and a couple plates of fabulous, breath-taking cuisine, I'd pick the good stuff every time.

One park choice I will never, ever regret last summer was passing up the hustle and bustle of SFNE for a few laid-back hours at Lake Compounce. It wasn't the Zoomerang, the first Chance Rotor I've boarded for years or even the beauty and power of Boulder Dash. It was the feeling of leaving the world for someplace laid-back, magical and relaxing. It was finally escaping the hectic, plastic, cartoony, commercial, stand-in-long-lines-to-cram-in-every-coaster mentality of a corporate park.

If I were in your shoes, I might take the Texas Triangle and a few of the other nearby corporate parks....but frankly, I'd ditch them all for a run through IB and HW alone. Actually, I wouldn't take the Texas parks with the family....Playette threatened to punch out every cartoon character she sees if she were subjected to the same ol' SF look for three days.

Try a little variety in you itinerary. You won't regret it.
