The Ultimate Six Flags Trip

And I thought that all of the parks I was going to in Two Weeks was bad enough....

If he hits parks that aren't Six Flags then he has to figure in more money for admission.

Now, I could be wrong, but I think he's hitting all of the Six Flags parks in this time period to see if it can be done in that time span, and I say go for it! I'm guessing if he brings a camera and does a decent job filming it'd be a video worth watchin.

Excalibur Crew for 2002!

I'm visiting Kentucky Kingdom first because it is close to home and makes the most sense in travel distances, and secondly because of the price of season passes. And I know the traveling times are tight but I like being able to push myself--and I am doing this to prove it can be done but first of all for the fun of it. Last Halloween I drove strait through to Magic Mountain--all 30 hours with no stopping for rest-went to the park for one day--and drove home 30 hours back--I've planned this trip with 7-8 hours of sleep every night.

-----------------

and I do plan to film and photograph the trip just to let you know.
30 hours straight driving - Yikes!!! You're nuts! How much caffiene did you ingest?
SoM, your schedule sounds a bit unrealistic, especially the part about driving from Atlanta to Houston in one day. That's not smart, nor healthy. Falling asleep behind the wheel can severly injure you, or worse, kill you or someone else. At least try to get someone else to accompany you on the trip, so you're not doing all the driving.

I'm sitting here thinking my trip to ohio 5 parks in 7 days is going to be exausting. You need more time to rest. Don't outdo yourself.

Intamin Fan,

Back off man and let him figure out whether his schedule is unrealistic or not, he's fine. Driving from Atlanta to Houston in a day isn't really that big of a deal. I've done Orlando to Iowa a couple of times after a full week of parking it, and I was fine.

Mabye you should go counterclockwise. That way you'll get the longer periods of driving done first.

VF Fan, first of all, I won't back off. I don't understand why people post these marathon trips, and then get upset if there's any criticism. I hate to stereotype, but most of the time the people posting these trips are young, and are therefore inexperienced travelers. I just found out the mileage from SFOG to SFAW, and it's 803 miles. The estimated time (your time will vary of course) is 13 hours 32 minutes. That's crazy for one person to do by themselves, and then go to another park the next day.

I appreciate the concern and there will be more than just me in the car--so we can switch off whenever someone even begins to get tired--I'm definitely putting safety first.
Let's not forget Time Zones. And hey, even if he is a young and "inexperienced traveler" I say...MORE POWER TO YA!!

I HATE SNOW!!! I am boycotting snow, I refuse to have fun in it.

I can't understand the need for people to mother someone they don't know.

VFan, once again, is was SoM's idea to post this trip on this site. He obviously wants someone's approval, or he wouldn't have posted this trip. When you get to be my age (you're 20/21, right?), you'll understand why the older folk on here give others advice. It's because we're old and we've been there!

SoM: Might I suggest using some sort of trip program that includes time spent at specific places - like RandMcnally Trip Maker. It can be quite helpful to paint a clear picture of how the trip will pan out, in real time.

And book your motels early as possible.

Sounds like quite a quest - I can't wait to read the TR.

Without the chaindog, you'd never get up the lifthill...

I assume that you are getting a rental car for all of this? Thats a lot of miles to put on any car!

Sounds like quite the trip! Certainly a lot of fun, but even a day or two more will alleviate some of the long drives and give you a little more time to enjoy the trip!

If you really wanna drive 24 hours straight from one park to another then do it again, just let me know so that I know when I have to stay off the road. I don't wanna die at my early age of 19. You also might wanna think about getting others to go so that you can take turns driving and no one person is driving all night long.

Thats a nice trip. Here's what my trip looks like... 18 parks, 118 coasters, in just 2 weeks. It's gonna happen. I've already figured everything out and it will cost less then $700. I've already posted the whole thing in the Meeting Calender.

Intamin Fan: I agree with you (I am also a lot closer to your age - I'm 28) - that sounds like a nightmare trip. Don't get me wrong, I like coasters, but that seems a *little* excessive. Maybe us "oldsters" should just be sent to the glue factory.

-----------------

I agree, if your young, energetic, have the funds and maintain a positive attitude, even *if* the trip fails at certain points, it's still an experience you will never forget.

I did a tour of the Midwest and Eastern parks a few years ago, which ended with the grand final of Superman at SFNE. Because of poor schedualing, a few parks we either had to skip, or spend half a day strapped for time. Still, I wouldn't have changed a thing, it was one of the more amazing experiences of my life! Go for it!
