The real "What is Holiday World up to?" thread

PKIdelirum:: It's called sarcasm, or being kidding...

Rob...has any word actually come out of Japan about a 4d? I've only heard Arrow talk. *** Edited 6/2/2005 2:10:43 AM UTC by Peabody***

Real Cbuzz quote of the day - "The classes i take in collage are so mor adcanced then u could imagen. Dont talk about my emglihs" - Adamforce
I'd think an Arrowbatic would be more up their alley.

...and both are just about as likely as airborne pork. :)

^ LOL

a good theory ;)

OK Paula, so the new area is themed to Spring Holidays: Valentines Day, St. Patricks Day and Easter or is this just more of your diabolical teasing??

And these holidays lead us back to TAX DAY! Paula, you are evil. Eeeeeeevvvvvil! (But in a good way...)

First off, I guess I have to use smileys (which is too bad, as people appear to take things far too seriously) to show sarcasm, eh?

Secondly, Jeff.... I haven't heard anything regarding Arrow/S&S in Japan as of late. I don't even have any idea what park, but I think it's a pretty good shot, honestly, that it's Nagashima. I hope so too. I miss NS. :)

Thirdly, it will be a 4D going into Holiday World. Mark my words. Today, June 1st, 2005, Rob said it's a 4D. So sayeth the Lord.

*notice there are NO smileys present*

Rob - I sound like that idiot Rob Viands

I had to sign up so I could post my thoughts..

First we know it's going to be a new area and cost $12 Million dollars... I would think that it's going to be more than one thing but 1 major .. which seems to be the case. I think it's going to be a flying or hanging type of coaster and it very well may be called the Thanksgiving area and the coaster hangs like a bird and may called the greased turkey.. I got all that from the hints in the holiblog..I have been studying the park map to see where this is going to go and we can see where the clearing is so it looks like they will have to an entrance at the picnic grove area.

Also if you look at the press release for the Bahari it says that it will start projects seeing the waterpark eventally doubled in space so I am not so sure that all the new road references are about something new for the water park.. a water coaster maybe... but I am not sure if you would put that in a water part but maybe it would be in a new area and close to the water park for ovious reasons!! and those also are something like a flying coaster cause you can pull the water on people so it's either a flying, hanging coaster or a flying water coaster or maybe even both? Could you build 2 coasters and create a new area for $12 Million though???

Let me know what you think not too many have been making very specific guesses but I think I am going to go buy me a turkey call for next year !!

Umptyscratch

Or it could be a Powder Keg rip off (can I use that term in connection to Holiday World?;)), Robbbbbbbbb...

Hmmm, could it be called The Turkey Shoot then?

I just thought of this....

And Paula is going to have a field day with it...

The area where construction is beginning is BIG. What if they divided it into TWO sectons. So there would be two new areas next year.

The other nice thing about that $12 Million, is that HW spend money very conservatively. They will put the cash where it counts.

Hey all (longtime thread reader, haha) does anyone here think it might be possible that Holiday World would build a dueling coaster? Or at least something the size of The Boss or Shivering Timbers, 12 million is alot of money for a new area. Hey Paula, is this new section going to be complete next year all at once or will it be slowly built up the next few seasons?
Uh, Not dueling but sizewise, Yes.
NICE!! lol

$12 million really isn't that much when you look at it in a theme-park perspective. If the coaster costs around $5-6 Million, Food places, plumbing, restrooms and electrical wireing run another $2-3 Million.

Then theres another $1-$2M for paving and landscaping

If they build other rides to go along with those, then you talking about 3-5 more small rides to compliment the area... and there you have it... $12 Million spent

Then you have to staff it.
Advertise it...
Maintain it....
and Pay utilities...

Don't forget Free stew if it is indeed Thanksgiving.

Id be truelly thankfull.

Chuck

What new section? I don't believe we've addressed that, have we? There's been plenty of speculation, of course...

What we have said is that 2005 is the first year of an ongoing plan to eventually double the size of Splashin' Safari. That will take up a good chunk of space.

Of course, we've never said we're finished building Holiday World.

Currently, the two parks are on about 100 acres. Thanks to Will's father's good planning, we have about 92 more undeveloped acres.

Suddenly, I don't know if my posts help at all or just make things more confusing...

Thats true.. it could just be a new parking lot.... there is a road going to it! :)
A little perspective on what $12 million can do, using my local park as an example...

$9 million: A standard Intamin Impulse, alla that fancy paving and whatnot

$10 million: A full-height, three-legged S&S tower, five kiddie rides, more fancy-schmansy paving

$12 million: A Morgan hyper, a skycoaster and a two-floor employee dorm. And--oh, yes--paving.

A little perspective on what HW can do with a few million

$2 million: Bahari, a 1200-person wavepool

But of course, with HW a little less obsessed with big-ol' tall stuff...

*flings self on floor, heaving sobs*

Why Paula, why can't you tell us? Whywhywhywhywhywhywhywhy?!?!?

-'Playa

(suspecting the delays are stew-related)

NOTE: Severe fecal impaction may render the above words highly debatable.

That's it -- you got me!

We're adding a huge new parking lot with Free Unlimited Stew Oasis buildings throughout.

Whew! What a relief to finally get that out!

(Will someone please check on Chuck? Is he okay? I figure he's passed out on the floor or something...)

Happy Stewday, everyone! :)
