The rare coasters on your track record???

black widow (defunct) SFNE. Same as Sidewinder I think...just a few years older. Arrow shuttle.

Millrace, I believe Rye Playland has a NAD jr. So that would make Camdens as one of 2 that I know of.

Chuck, who was a bit concerned when he seen the steel track going into rotted wood on Camdens Little Dipper last year.

Montaña Rusa, Parque Nacional Del Café:
Coaster at a park in Colombia, South America. Rode during a trip there in January of 2002.

Laser Loop, Kennywood
Since everyone seems to think that Steel Phantom falls into this category, then I guess this classic Anton Shuttle does too. My first looper too :)

Red Devil at Ghost Town is the Sky in Maggie Valley, NC. Its a operating O.D. Hopkins looper. Rare and hard to get to. No one knows about it. There was also a small kiddie coaster there, Lil' Devil. Its a Schiff coaster. Reminds me of High Speed Thrill Coaster. I went on it with my little cousin. Quite fun.

O yeah, Blazing Fury at Dollywood. And the old mine train there, Thunder Express. It was at Six Flags St. Louis at River King Mine Train, relocated to Magic Springs and Crystal Falls as Big Bad John!

Finally, Corkscrew at Myrtle Beach Pavillion, from MAgic Harbor, to the Pavillion, and finally to Salitre Magico. This thing sure knows how to get around!

King Kobra, PKD, and the original Steel Phantom, and Viper at SFoG...Blazing Fury (Dollywood), Starliner (MSAP), West Coaster - stop laughing SoCal-ers, it's not easy for us Easterners....and Windstorm at Old Town

I *may* have ridden the coasters SLFAKE refers to at BGW and GAdv....(hey I was little once too ya know)

I got Deja Vu at SFGAm when that was still a coup...apparently operating "to specs" at this point...

bill, repeating "gotta get to Stricker's" like it was my mantra or something...and wondering how I missed opportunities at some other *hard-to-get" rides....

Flying Dutchman - Dorney Park, fun little ride and my first coaster!

Drachen Fire - Enough people have ridden it, but no more.

The bobsled coaster that was once at SFGAm...the name escapes me? I only remember a few details of it, but I remember it was fun!

Mad Mouse- Enchanted Forest, Chesteron, IN (defunct)

Toboggan- Enchanted Forest, Chesterton, IN (defunct)

Off to CP in August, Hopefully off to two other parks in July though!! YEA!!!! :-D It will be a good summer!
Questions:
smles@ilstu.edu

Kennywood -- l. The Pippin. Was remodeled into the Thunderbolt.

2. The Little Dipper. The greatest family or junior coaster

anywhere. Was dismantled to make room for the rafting ride.

3. The Wild Mouse. KW's version was special because it was one of

the first and was higher and longer than the rest and had two

lift hills and more drops. The ride designers realized they could

condense the ride down and put more riders per hour through.

Idlewild -- l. The Rollo Coaster. A family terrain coaster, running through the

trees and along the curving ridge.

2. The Wild Mouse. Truly up in the trees. May be the best Rodent

Coaster left from the original generation. (CP's Wildcat and the

Paramount Ricochets are redesigned versions.)

Have we all forgotten the Turn-of-the-Century, Marriott's Great America?(Illinois for me) Those sweet, evil, vicious bunny hills now lost to the Demon's loops.

Sky Streak, Boblo Island (ride moved, park defunct). My first real roller coaster, may have been my last if not for some prodding five years later.

Chicago Loop, Old Chicago (moved, defunct.)

Soap Box Derby Racers(defunct), Knott's. Anybody ride it with the motorcycles? I didn't. 8^(

(The orginal) Corkscrew, Knott's and at its new home Silverwood.

Speaking of Silverwood, Tremors and Griz..er..Timber Terror, though I don't think they fit the catagory....why am I typing them then?

Screamin' Demon, Kings Island.

And last, least? Steel Phantom, Kennywood. The nerve that park has, remaking a ride that will make you say 'Steel what?' Ahhhh sweet Revenge.

The Rail Blazer, during it's short time at SFStL.

A coaster which ran at Chain of Rocks, but the name escapes me. Ran 4 person cars, but the wheels were mounted towards the back of the car, so the front end swung out over the turns. "Wild Mouse" or "Mad Mouse", maybe. It wasn't like any Mouse coasters I've seen since. The footprint was almost square.

My mom (who I got my love of coasters from) has the Comet from the St. Louis Highlands on her list. That's one I wish I had, but I was born a few years too late.

Wood - Raven
Steel - Millennium Force
Generic, isn't it?

Charles:

I have seen numerous manufacturers listed for Rye's kiddie coaster. L.A. Thompson, Mangels, Prior and Church, and NAD.

It does use a NAD kiddie coaster train. How many of those are around? 2?

At any rate, the Camden Lil' Dipper and the Nay Aug Comet were both a production model coaster of which Camden's is the last remaining of that design.

Lil' Dipper seemed to be good shape a few weeks ago. What is this "Steel track going into rotted wood" all about?

Well, There are several rides I have been lucky to ride. For example, the Wild Mouse at Shady Lake Park. I have no clue where that has gone. Plus rides now closed like the Thunder Eagle down in Pigeon Forge or even rides removed recently like King Cobra.

When Americana was in danger, I felt that my few rides on Screechin Eagle would be my last. You never know what will happen to these great rides, so do as many as you can and love then while they last.

Add another rare one that wasn't rare at the time.

Barvarian Beetle at Kings Island :)

Millrace, Last year, I swear. The steel track was on top of rotted wood laminates, The steel actually sunk into the wood about a inch.

Ok, Camdens is the last production model.

Chuck, who would consider that NAD jr. train a non restraint coaster cause the lapbar sits a foot in front of ya :)
