The Point Going Orange?

Rctycoon2k's avatar
Actually, Magnum was painted with a color which was IDed at the Arrow plant as being a hue of Orange, but yet had the name of a red (cannot remember the name of the specific color). The actually color of the track had more orange to it then anything. Also, if it was the same color as Steel Force, then why didn't SF turn orange before it was repainted? Wasn't it pink when repainted? Coincidence eh?

EDIT - As you can see anyone can adjust photos, so you cannot judge by photos...
http://www.rcdb.com/installationgallery11.htm?Picture=10 see i told you it was red!
http://www.ctrackrecords.com/magnum1.jpg - see i told you it was yellow!

I rest my case...

If Magnum is not red why does the logo have a lot of red in it?

If Magnum is orange or yellow why does it have a red train, a blue train, a black train but not an orange or yellow train?

If Magnum is not red why does every picture (except doctored ones) and everytime I have been to the park seen it as red

If Magnum is not red why does the park map potray it as such?

If Magnum is not red then why do all the CP pictures I have ever seen appear to show that it does?

I rest my case

I dont care what anyone says Magnum is better then MF, which is better then TTD!

Lets get back on topic, does anyone have a picture of the suposed new painting going on to Magnum?

You mean the orange paint that is the same color as it originally was=

Its only a small section of spine at the bootom of the lift. About 5 feet, long. You can't see it very well unless you are on the ride.

And to go with Touchdowns logic, why is the lettering on Maggie's photo booth orange?

I have been riding the thing for 15 years a 1500 or so times over, it's orange.

From SFKK in April to Dragster's Last Train of the year, thanks everyone for such amazing friendships.

First things first: MagnumForce, how do you know that they're re-painting Magum the same color? Have you seen the labels on the cans? If you're going by your eye alone, I'm afraid an awful lot of people (including myself) are going to consider your posts inadmissable. Peoples' eyes really aren't that good. On the other hand, if you do have some inside information, please, tell.

Second: We all see colors differently. Seriosuly. Studies have shown that people do not register the same shades of color from any given object. Personally, I have seen only one or two pictures out of hundreds (and ten rides) that make Magnum look orange (even some pictures used to bolster the orange theory look red, to me). But, it is a kind of orange-ish red, so others may it very differently. I can't speak for the coat being applied now, but, when it comes to Maggie's color in the past, we were all right.

Good day.

Brent, that is not the original color. They're painting it the color it is now- orange.

Magnum was more of a red tone when it opened. It has faded over the years to a God-aweful orange. It was never a bright red. It was red-ish, though.

I don't care how many times you say you've ridden the damned thing, that doesn't make you right. If I drive down I-71 every day for 15 years and say it's a eight lane highway all the way down to Cincy I must be right by your logic, Brent.

And how did you take your first ride on Magnum in 1988?

It's an optical illusion. The colors surrounding the track will determine how your eye interperets the color. Most pictures taken from the same angle under the same conditions will come up similar regardless of what camera is used, or what program you use to put the picture onto the internet. You can see an example here that shows how surrounding colors can affect your perception.
This still does not explain why CP has decided to make Magnum have a bright red track in their maps for 99, 00, 01, 02, and 03 I have all of them and trust me they are candy apple red.

Heh, it's a new personality test for enthusiasts! Like "Are you a 'Type A' or 'Type B' personality?" or "Is the glass half empty or half full?"

Are you a 'Magnum is red' or a 'Magnum is orange' enthusiast?

It does feel a lot like GTTP in this thread though...

OK, am I the only one who thinks Tile A and B are totally different??

Yeah, I thought so too, Antuan. But I took their challenge and opened it up in photoshop and took a sample from each square - they're exactly the same shade of gray. Weird stuff.

Red or Orange? I'm not sure, but this photo will further the argument, probably both ways.

Edit: Photo is rather large for better inspection.

I hope they sandblasted the old paint off before they added the new stuff because the weight of the new paint may cause it to sink faster.

I know most of you think it's just a rumor, but it's true. When Magnum was built, it was the tallest coaster in the park. Now there's two others that are taller. How else do you explain that?

You might as well just paint "Jr." on the signs, too.

That is a rumor, Magnum is not sinking! I think the colors on the coaster are fine. They sybolize the coaster.

BTW: Magnum is 205 feet
Wicked Twisiter is 215 feet
Millenniunm Force is 310 feet

RCT MAN: I think you need to learn how to more effectively pick out sarcasm.

Whoa, RCT MAN!

Magnum is not sinking. We know that! It was a JOKE!

It's all good though. ;-)

Gilman, 2003 was the 15th season for Magnum.

And as Dave has stated, the coaster was the color of a Case tractor which always gave me a standard as to what color it was. When I was nine I thought it was the color of an old Case tractor, and guess what color the new paint is? The color of a Case tractor.

As for the maps, sure doesn't look bright red to me.

------------------

Easiest solution? It's Orangish-red.

tambo, perhaps you missed the post stating that anyone can edit a photo? I don't think photos are going to settle any cases anymore... :)
