Running a AMD at 2.14Ghz, Have an ATI 9600 with 256MB memory onboard and have 1GB of RAM installed on my PC.

k time for some good ole British sarasm...prepare yourself.

ahem

Surely everyone has just bought the game to place the mini Top Thrill Dragster coaster in sandbox mode and watch it for hours with some fireworks in the background. I mean what else do you need from a game.

:)

More bugs that i've found is the sound levels are messed up, I have to take the ride volume up to max and the general park sounds down to a minimum so that it sounds right.
If you change the queue colour then change it back to black only half the queue changes.

But my favourite bug is building scenery through the monorail, completely walled in a monorail station and hte entrance ramp. All the peeps obviously have the ability that girl does in X-men when she walks through walls.

oh yeah, no tunnels or any underground stuff at all is also a big bad point.

I can live without the tunnels.

I can also live without the fireworks mixmaster crap. It's mind numbing.

But fireworks displays are so much better than working block brakes Gonch...

pfft you know nothing.

Hey,
Just want you guys to know about how your complaing about stalls breaking down. Well I was at Kings Dominion yesterday and one of their haunting house walk through things they have for Fear Fest actually broke down. I kid you not, while I was waiting in line, the walk though had...."broken down" as said by a line attendent. The only thing in these are lights, fog machines and actors. So that goes to show you that anything can happen. ;)

But that still doesent explain the many bugs in this game. Looks like I wont be able to play the game until it's time to return to the parks this spring :(

I just remembered something...while I was trying out the 1 hour try-before-you-buy edition I built a wooden coaster. I was alarmed to find out that they lowered the ceiling immensely. You can't build over ~220 feet tall. I know that's around how tall SOB is, but that was what was cool about the demo. You could build as high as you damn well pleased.

Has anyone else seen a new ceiling cap on the other coasters?

It's still me, here from the beginning back in 1999. Add 1500+ posts to the number I have in the info section if you care about such things.

I don't know if anyone saw this, but there's a strange bug in the game where if you switch to the smaller resolution and back to the higher resolution, it significantly boosts the framerate. That's f'd up. Someone on the Atari forum found this.

I'm not positive, but didn't that trick also work with the demo?

Did anybody else have issues with inversion stats? I made a few coasters (all Inverts so far) that had 5 and 6 inversions respectively, but each time it listed 8 in the stats window. What gives?

  • Water tricycles without a track launch out of the station and "crash."

  • Splash boats with a drop at the top of the lift slide back down the lift.

  • Peeps don't ride certain things. If that's on purpose, that's stupid, because in real life, every ride attracts at least someone.

  • Some times rides rack up a big queue, but the peeps never load. Saving, quiting, then reloading the game fixes this.

Overall, I'm fairly disgusted. This is the biggest joke I've ever seen in game development. It's an embarrassment to the franchise. Frontier clearly had no QA, and if they did, Atari told them to patch later. Lame either way.

Stratacoaster brakes don't appear to do anything, no matter how many you put in there.

I still have to laugh at the threads on the Atari forums that claim the game is great as is and that this sort of thing is to be expected.

Are kids these days really living with those lowered expectations?

You know, it'd probably be quicker and easier to make a list of things that work correctly.

And let me rant a minute if you will.

I find it stunning that the game includes the stupid mixmaster crap and that it works perfectly, yet all the actual gameplay items we've detailed are so wrong.

Night mode. Still one of the most useless features to me. You can't see a friggin thing to work on your park, it slows the game a bit and generally does nothing but annoy. I end up making my custom scenario workbenches close before dark and disable night mode in other scenarios/maps.

Peep editor. Hardly as 'limitless' as it was sold to be and hey, it works flawlessly. Surprise.

The only three things I can think of offhand that work perfectly in that game and they're all useless 'vanity' features that do nothing for gameplay.

Hell, in my case, I don't even think they enhance gameplay in anyway. I don't use or disabled all 3 of them.

I still really don't like much of the scenery. It still feels very "RCT2 Expansion" to me. Too limited. Many pieces only fit with other pieces (physically, not just in style) - they sit odd on the map in many cases, blah blah blah. They left out many crucial 'generic' pieces that can be used to create more custom items (buildings, supports, fountains, etc) and replaced then with a handful of huge animatronics or statues that once you play a few times, get old fast - plus, how original will our parks feel when we all have the same 10 pieces in our western section, the same 10 pieces in or sci-fi section, the same 10 pieces in our spooky section - you get the idea. It's just a few standard pieces that we'reall forced to drop into different locations.

Even with the bugs fixed this feels more like Wacky Worlds in 3D - and that's not a good thing.

With that much said, I still find myself playing the game. Even just toying around in little bits at a time. I think it's just frustrating that there's so much potential there. A couple hundred bug fixes/patches and two or three expansion packs from now and I see this as a marriage destoyer ;)

I guess in the end it's more profitable to release an incomplete game during the X-mas rush and fix it through patches over the next 6 months than to get it right and release during the spring.

If Atari is still saying that things are okay, how do we know they'll even patch it to the point of working?

I think, at this point a life-changing patch is just a dream.

My system meets the minimum requirements, 1.99ghz processor, 32mb video card, 256k memory, but the game does not run well on it at all. I had to shut off EVERYTHING running in the background when my computer boots up to get the game to run at all.

I cannot exit, i must use the task manager to end the game and it hangs a while when i do that. My game will not run in full screen mode as i cannot see the cursor arrow when i use that mode.

Maneuvering in the game is very difficult. I am pretty proficient at RCT2, and i find this version of the game very frustrating.

From what i saw, the flat rides are great to watch, and the peeps are excellent. I like how they use up the space of the wide queue lines instead of standing single file in line.....that means less queue lines needed and its more realistic.

The color choices suck for most of the flat rides. I hate how they color choices paint psychodelic like designs on the rides instead of solid areas. And unless i am missing something, all cars on a ride have to be the same color? (such as the sports cars, etc).

The block brake problem and the limit cars ruin the coasters.

The scenery is way too limiting condsidering all that we had in RCT2 with the expansions AND custom scenery. They did add some of the needed roof pieces that were custom scenery before, but they have missed so many things that it is a huge step backward in theming. Hopefully this will come with expansion packs.

Many people did not like Wacky Worlds, but the theming of that expansion added a lot to the game and little of it is present now. Also hopefully they will add the great custom Victorian work that Fisherman has made for use sometime in the future as well as all of the diagonal pieces that the custom designers made.

I cannot figure out how to add water. My tutorial for the land locks up when it gets to the land textures.

I also cannot figure out how to get RCT2 coasters in the game. The instructions say copy the file into the RCT3 coaster designs folder, then open the ride in the design manager, but i cannot see anywhere to open the RCT2 ride in that mode.

I will continue to play RCT2 to play the game and design parks. It is much more useable and themable. Right now, RCT3 is just graphics and not good game play. *** Edited 11/1/2004 1:16:16 PM UTC by super7****

It is fairly annoying that they'd spend all of that time getting the physics right to have a derailed train bowl through peeps and send them flying, only to allow very obvious bugs to remain in the game. It's a damn shame.

Well, I've played the 60 minute demo version, and here are a few problems I found...

a.) Inverting Wild Mouse (Screamind Squerrel) interting over the side's radius is too big. There are also no brakes on the inverting side, making the ride extremly fast.

b.) Strata coasters come to a hault with block breaks, same with every other coaster too. Also, there are no giant level to verticle track pieces like in RCT2.

c.) All rides load extremely slow.

d.) Forget ques the size of the ones on RCT2, here they have to be extremly short

e.) No supports on Screaming Squerrel. Make it look like the real thing!

f.) No realistics supports on the strata coaster! WFT? It's 420 feet tall, yet it only has two small supports?

g.) No gradual acceleration on strata, or ANY launched coaster. On strata there is no launch dolly or anything!

This game is truely laught out loud funny. The glitches, flaws, and downright problems are an insult to anyone who has ever ridden a coaster before. I wonder if they have ever play RCT before! Give me a working game first, then fireworks and peep designers in expansion packs, not peep designers and fireworks first, then a working game in an expansion pack! *** Edited 11/1/2004 2:56:26 PM UTC by The Mole***

There are caps on all the coasters I think. However, the height limit CAN be removed with a code.

Rename one of your peeps to "John Wardley" and that should get rid of them. Here's the entire list so far:

James Hunt - Get a dune buggy you can drive around park
Atari - All guests Laugh
Chris Sawyer - Guests Jump for joy
John Wardley - Removes height restrictions
Jon Roach - Peeps ride all non-coaster rides
Sam Denney - Peeps ride all coasters
Guido Fawkes - Gives access to the advanced Fireworks editor
Frontier - All rides and coasters never break down

That last one's an ironic choic considering the broken state of this game. :)

One more thing....Per Frontier this morning, Lift Chain speeds will also be "cheatable" like this in the upcoming patch.

*** Edited 11/1/2004 4:17:54 PM UTC by Coasterbuf***

Are you serious?!

Achieving normal gameplay functions like getting people to ride your rides, variable chain lift speeds, and height restrictions lifted are considered CHEATS?!

I do have to say that the physics improvements are good, and I support Jeff's claim that the brakes on rocket coasters don't work, at least I couldn't get them to work right either.

Good ranting Gonchar, but one question (for all), is there any way to see better at night. I.E., spotlights or any way to light the coasters up?
