Yes. You can see that it is missing if you walk up to the fence by the drop off zone

I doubt horse manure can spray paint C.P. 17 on the pavement.

After doing some thinking, I really hope that if we are expecting a Flying coaster next year, that it is surrounded by a newly themmed area. Now if we were to get a new B&M Floorless coaster I say drop the baby in there and landscape the heck out of it.

THE CHAIN IS GONE! Deal With it! Look up at the top of the lift hill where the chain would start making it's return back down. It's gone and your "Park Insider" must be a crazy glue sniffer not to have noticed!

Sorry I couldn't hear you, The voices in my head are drowning you out.

OK so BFD you talked to some survey schmo who doesn't work for the park. This is like the 12th topic on Shockwave removal. Lets end this and wait to see what happens.

Ok Space mountain whats crwled up your but and died? A surveyer at a park is a certain sign of change! Also shock wave's removal is a Huge deal! It allows Great America to have so much more space for a new coaster man some people just piss me off.

My friend who works there said the chain was still on the coaster as of last Saturday, which was the last time he worked. Perhaps the chain is off now, but as of last Saturday, it was still on, according to my friend (and he works there - in the ride department...sorry I can't say what he does specifically, as it wouldn't be good if he were to be indentified, but it is a moderately high position).

Well joe if that is the case i'm sorry but the chain was most definatley gone on the 12th of august. I'm going again tomarrow the 16th so i'll be bringing some more news to the table soon. Also as I said before Shock Wave's removal is a HUGE deal. Shock wave is built entirely on one huge vacant stretch of former parking lot. Once it's goe that area came be torn up have landscapers come in and we could get mabey three new coasters out of that area at the most. I really do wish Whizzer would have gone down as planned. That area has such good terrain that a new coaster there would definatley make it up the top 10 list. But oh well.

SFGam Man...I would take some pictures if you would like to prove your correct on this. I'm not saying I doubt you, just that pictures speak much louder than words. No one will be able to argue with you then.

Enjoy your visit!

This does sound a little bit funny, everyone makes fun of people for talking to in park employees like the Dippin' Dots guy and such, now we have the surveyer? Nothing is for sure yet, but I'm sickened by the people who are celebrating the loss of Shockwave, immature snobs.

I was at SFGAm today, Thursday the 15th and the lift chain is still in place. And you say the chain was gone on the 12th? I'm not saying I doubt you, but why would a chain dissappear and then re-appear 3 days later. The fact is Maint. hasn't touched the ride yet, other than to move the trains.

It's not that I don't want to talk about it, it's just that it's getting a bit old, all of the rumors. I would think that it's going bye bye (fact is I'd like it that way) but lets all settle down a bit and see what happened. One source was quoted as the new coaster would be built on parking lot between Bull and Viper, thats why I'm skeptical.

"Crawled up my butt and died", eh? That sounds real mature.

This time I suggest looking at where the lift chain is supposed to be (that is the lift). You may be surprised.

I know quoting someone who is less than ten posts above you is discouraged, but I couldn't have said this better. You may not like the ride, but other people sure do. How can anyone wnat a coaster to be removed? If you don't like it, don't ride it! Great America surely has enough room for a new coaster somewhere else. It's not up to anyone but the park to decide if an attraction goes, so I know I can't stop Shockwave's removal, but why take a coaster out if you can put another one somewhere else. I don't even want to hear any bull about this being the "roughest coaster in the world", or about it being a "waste of space". Enough people like it to ride it every day, and I side myself with them. It's a roller coaster, it's meant to be fun, and in my opinion, it is. "We're not in the buisiness of taking rides out". That quote came dangerously close to being a false statement just a few days ago, thank God it didn't, and hopefully it will stay that way. Cedar Point and SFMM didn't get the record for most ocasters in a park by removing them...

Thank You for challenging TOS: The Ride. We hope you enjoy the rest of your day, here at SFCB.

What's there to survey?

Shockwave's built in a parking lot.

I heard that a wheel popped off one of the cars and thats why its been closed lately. And that train was probably the blue one and is being worked on, and the construction people may just be looking for what happened or something along those lines. And a construction guy standing out in the parking lot isn't the best source of information.
Ok where did you see the chain?!?!?!?! If you saw it at the bottom of the lift I suggest checking your eyes. There is a chain at the bottom of the lift but that is for one of the lift's motors. Also i have spent over 100 dollars these pasts months on film and developing! So i'm not going to be taking many photos all right its expensive. Next time anyone is at the park look at the Top of the lift where the chain should be exposed. It's not there!

That is why I have a digital camera. Film processing is expensive. Now if my A drive would only work. Someone please call SFGAm and check on the status of the ride. If they don't know ask for someone that may know.

SFGAm won't comment on that at all.

As for the lift chain, it's still there. It is inside a "U" shaped track all the way to the top of the lift, you can see it if you stand on the east side fence and are looking straight up the middle of the lift (on the service road) The lift chain is there.

I'm not saying you are wrong, but other than to remove the blue train Maint. hasn't touched the thing.

This is a silly discussion that is going nowhere, so I'm done with it.

Obviously no one knows what is going on for a fact so why is everyone fighting as to who is right?!
