What a wonderfully designed ride!!!! I have to give you credit for an asthetically pleasing ride that touches the macabre humor in every person (the subtile use of color and landscape is great)!!

The only thing that I would do is make your station where the ride departs more like an airport terminal for the ultimate effect!! I bet your customers ride it again and again - "9/11 the Ride is a great value"!!!

I am really interested to see what else you have in your America park!!!

I have to echo the sentiment of lucky-- There is nothing inherently wrong with the ride itself.

It is very sad that the tragedies of 9-11 occured. I will not argue this. If we want to discuss the appropriateness of a coaster such as kcgreg built, however, perhaps we should first discuss the FIFTY YEARS of unwanted US involvment in the Middle East that provided the mitigating circumstances for the attack. As this is not a political board, however, the discussion would, although appropriate, be off-topic.

Two things need to be considered to make a valid decision regarding this coaster:

1) It's not like he had them flying off and dying at the end of it. That would be the circumstance what might provide extreme incorrectness.

2) If you're not going to whine about the hundreds of thousands that we killed when we dropped the bombs on Japan or if you're not going to whine about the hundreds of thousands of Arabs that we've been responsible for killing, then you have no right to condemn this coaster.

Cheers,

Bob Cat

Oh, yeah.. and back on the real topic of this thread...

You could do the obligatory train-ride around the park and call it "The Trans-continental Railroad". That was pretty big.

Lynx Rufus:

While you argue that it is not a "political board", you certainly took the oportunity to make a political statement.

-----------------
Kind of hard to take a post as objective if a park or coaster name is part of the "user name"

Here's a more appropriate idea for a 9/11 based ride:
Still have a flyer going through a city, but have it do helices around the towers and call it something like "Defender"- and, of course, have it painted red, white, and blue. That way, it's like you're protecting the towers, not attacking them!

It is true that some of the things that I said were political... overtly and underlying. However, the discussion of whether a 9-11 ride is appropriate or not is necessarily based in the most basic of politics. I did not go on an extended rant about American Foreign Policy... I merely made enough statement to justify my support for kcgreg's ride.

Have a Nice Day,

I tried to make an American Flag in the back of the park out of colored banners, but it was so big, I exceded my limit about halfway through. I will probably make one out of paths.

I already made a railroad and I called it the Lewis and Clark Expedition, but I might change it to the Trans-Continental. Nice suggestion.

I really feel it would be in bad taste to make a coaster fly through some buildings. As I said before I don't have LL enabled into the game so it wouldn't be possible anyway. :)

Keep 'em coming!

About Lewis and Clark:

A log flume or river ride comes to mind when I think of those two. They headed west long before the Rail Roads and I always have this picture in my mind of them paddling their canoe down the rivers.

Wow...that's a great idea Lucky. It does seem strange that the planes dispatch out of a building. Having a lift hill away from the towers on an air strip sounds cool! Too bad the suspended coaster doesn't have a launched lift system. That would be even BETTER.

And I didn't even notice the red, white, and blue combo of my coaster colors as a whole. I thought blue/white track for the sky and most airlines are red/white....OOOOOPS! Guess I could make the track some combination of grey, black, red, or orange to make it look like fire and smoke. hmmmm I'll try it and see how it looks, the blue/white colors look nice against the buildings though. Then I was thinking I could build a T-shirt stall at the exit selling T-Shirts "I survived 9-11:The Ride"...but since you can't customize the t-shirts like that, I'll just leave them soot black or gray

Thanks for your interest in my park.....it's still under construction but I'll be glad to email it to you when I'm finished. Keep the idea's coming!!!

What do you think about a stand up coaster called "United We Stand" and next to it a drop tower called "Divided We Fall".....HAHAHAHA

Mistah CPgenius, here's an idea for landscaping: (I know it's been suggested in other ways, but I've done this before and it looks cool.)

Make an American Flag. Use red grid lines as the stripes, and snow/ice as white stripes. To substitute blue, use water. When you look at the "straight on top" map, it looks just like a flag! :)

But then those stupid ducks come along... ;)

I can condem this coaster all I want, becasue it vividly portrays the deaths of thousands of innocent lives. I would be just as opposed to a coaster that commemorated the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki so vividly. Battles between soldiers are different, though not much so. I'm sorry, but I find a flying (okay, suspened-with-airplane-cars) coaster ramming into buildings as distastefull as I would a dark ride through the gas chambers at Auwstwich (yes, yes, I know. Sp.) Just becasue we arguably brought the attacks on ourseves doesn't take away from the fact that they were horrific. And if we did bring the attacks on ourselves, why would we want this ride in a park meant to celebrate america in the first place?

Why would anyone want to recreate something that is so negative in everyone's mind? I don't really care if it's a game or not. 9-11 the ride.. sheesh What are ya' thinkin? I bet if it was your Mom or Dad in those towers you'd think twice about doing something like that in your little computer game wouldn't ya? Sorry for the ranting. I just take 9/11 allot harder than most and am pretty sensitive about it for some reason. (no, neither of my parents were in those building for those who are curious)

1 Day, 4 Planes, A whole New World. 9/11/01

I'll venture into this quagmire once again and second what (SF)Great American said... with the exception of the "we brought the attacks on ourselves" tripe. (Sorry... I just get so sick and tired of hearing this line from the "blame America first" crowd of P.C. hand wringers).

I wanted to leave well enough alone, but some points of view must be refuted. Some argue that a 9-11 ride is inappropriate, yet you would celebrate the D-day invasion? 4000 young men, many not even 20 years old, lost their lives that day. War or not, death is death.

So far as this "PC handwringing" bs, I am not in the "PC" view. The "PC" view these days is similar to the woman in Florida that heard three Arab-Americans talking about "picking it up" and "if we don't have enough money, I have contacts that can help us out" that called the police. As the men were driving, they then were accused of driving through a toll booth without paying when video shows they very clearly stopped and paid. Oh... what were they talking about? Picking up one of their cars from Kansas City. And the woman that accused them of busting the toll gate? She was confused. ---That is the PC view.

At any rate, it would be a different matter if the planes flew off the track, which they don't. There are many ways you can spin that ride, and not all of them are bad.

Now back to the original topic:

I agree that Lewis & Clark should be a flume ride.

Maybe you should have a bumper-car ride or something similar and call it "Gridlock" or something similar, after the famous traffic problems in NY or LA or even DFW-- and also the outstanding quote from Ross Perot's running mate in 1990 (Admiral James Stockdale).

Another thing would be to build a huge flume ride that goes all the way around the park in celebration of the Panama Canal. Just a thought

Cheers,

Bob Cat

SLFAKE - What is a 'hand wringer?' Is that in the same vein as saying 'I was my hands of this,' ala Pontius Pilate?

I didn't read all of the posts, so bear with me if these have been said...

1. D-Day or Atomic Bomb (or something with WWII)

2. The Golden Spike (mine train)

3. Lift-Off! (power tower launch ride)

4. Great Depression area of park (old west scenery and sand, maybe old-type rides, like the Scrambler, out and back woodie, or a car ride)

5. Mayflower Landing (at front of park, don't know what, maybe swinging ship or the theater)

I hope you these ideas, and I think this would be a really cool park.

YOU THINK YOU KNOW ME...

I got one more...

6. BOMB OSAMA!!! (big ride, red white and blue, and something about kicking Osama's @$$!)

-----------------
YOU THINK YOU KNOW ME...

That idea of 9/11 the ride...Unbeleavable how you people can joke and make some recreations of such a horrible evnt...where many people lost their lives. I Witnessed the attacks first hand from out of my house. Kcgreg....i think you should have thought twice about making such a horrible recreation. Its not funny, its sad. I dont know how "peeps love it" but i think its disgusting.
