Stuff that makes you feel old?

That reminds me of a button I found in my stack of stuff the other year while moving... black button with white lettering... "I survived the sooperdooperlooper"
During my mass cleaning I have done these past few weeks (since I am moving on Friday), I found all sorts of goodies, including many "I Survived" buttons.  I found an "I Survived the Demon Drop at Cedar Point button, two BGW buttons proclaiming I walked away fine from LNM and the Big Bad Wolf, two buttons from PKI with I Survived slogans for The Beast and King Cobra.... and best of all, while it's not an "I Survived" button, I found a button from "The Bat".  I never rode the thing, but I must have bought the button on my 1984 trip just because I thought the logo was cool!

ProgRay (who also found a button from Six Flags AutoWorld!)

I feel old when I see a sign like "Those with recent surgery, back problems, and the elderly should not ride" and wonder whether "the elderly" applies to me. Fortunately most such signs aren't worded that way.
They would NEVER make "I survived" buttons in this day and age!

Here's one for my fellow over-30 crew....

Those entering driver's training are at least half our age. ACK!!!

things I remember at CP that make me feel old, (I'm only 19)

-Being excited to ride the Trabant
-Watching everyone ride Thunder Canyon its first season
-Most of my trips to CP had only 1 looping coaster

Loops? At Cedar Point?  Which of their four roller coasters has loops?

Cedar Creek Mine Ride? No loops there.

Wildcat? No loops there either.

Jumbo Jet?  Fast modern steel coaster but still no loops,

Finally how about the big signature ride at the Point, the Blue Streak?  Nope, no loops on it either.

Old?  I'm only as old as the Blue Streak or the Ford Mustang.  All 1964 vintage.

I feel old because:
--Too many coasters on my list are defunct
--I rode the now-defunct Bavarian Beetle from PKI when it was still the Galaxi at Coney Island
--I remember the PKI Screamin' Demon, I rode the Beast in its first season, and in fact visited KI in it's first season (before it was PKI)
--I met met my husband at now-defunct Opryland
--When I started riding coasters there were few enough that I could remember all their names! (or maybe it's because my brain was younger..)
Well, I am not old by any means..I am 16, turning 17 next wednesday..but I remember when Matterhorn at DisneyLand was huge and scary..  I also remember the submarine ride thing.  That was awesome.

I remember when it cost $4.95 to visit Geauga Lake. They also gave out rainchecks, as they would shut down if it rained too much.

I was just tall enough to ride Jumbo Jets.

I worked at PKI (before the P) before many Buzzers were born. I may have even "spieled" at some of you back in 1983/1984.

KingCobra had no name and was considered one of the most incredible rides ever.

My FIRST day employed at KI, a drunk kid fell from the tower onto the elevator cables.

King Cobra "fell off" the track on the helix and remained chained there for several weeks.

The Bat was really cool, if you managed to get on before it closed for the day.

Vortex was not a headbanging mess.

I could go on. But enough is enough.

I remember a small pathetic amusement park/game room along the side of the Long Island Expressway in Whitestone, my Dad used to take us there when we were little. It was called "adventures Inn". I remember being scard to death of their Jumbo Jet and being the ONLY 1 riding it. The park closed down forever in the mid 70's and all the rides sat dormid for years. Now a Pepsi factory sits there. When I see Astrolands Jumbo Jet from the subway every day I think of that park and of course when I ride it now too.
The saddest thing is remembering when Coney Island (aka Astroland) was CLEAN, SAFE and FUN!!!
Thats REALLY showing my age! hehehehe

Remembering my first visit to Disney World was to a one park place with a monorail and a handful of overpriced hotels.  Also each attraction required tickets to ride and the "E" ticket was the most expensive and would get you on Space Mountain.

Come on Rollergator. I'm not that much older than you!
Some Winter Olympic gold medal winners were born in the LATE '80's (like the Korean female short-track speed skater).

Remembering CP in the mid 60's..the unpainted Blue Streak, the Jumbo Jet, the Rocket Ships, Rotor, and when the only way to get to Frontier Town was the train and Frontier Skyride.

Listening to the kids on these forums complaining about the "lack of thrill rides" at some parks makes me feel old when I remember what was "thrilling" when *I* was a teen.

Remembering going to the now defunct Edgewater Amusement Park to see the Bobby Sherman and David Cassidy concerts.

I remember going to PKI when I was nine glad that I`d be tall enough to ride the sunshine turnpike.  However, it was 1994 and the turnpike was gone to make way for Nickelodeon Splat City in `95.  I also remember going up to PKI during Winterfest, then I remember that that was when I was seven.  Now I`m seventeen, and going to have to get a job this summer.  (I want to work at PKI but my mom says it too far, when it`s only a twenty five minute drive.)

Heres one:  Being scared to ride the Matterhorn at DL because of the Yeti.  I was so scared of that thing that I wouldn't ride the sky buckets because it went by the ugly brute.

-My favorite coaster in the world has been recreated two times.  RIP Mister Twister.
