Stuff that makes you feel old?

The fact that half of my fellow 'Buzzers are about half my age!!!

--oh yeah, and remembering that before Disaster Transport was Avalanche Run and before AR was the Wildcat's old spot and before that the Jumbo Jets.

I feel old every morning when my 51 year old body tells me as I get out of bed.  I NEVER feel old at an amusement park, despite the signs that warn that older patrons should not ride.  I say ride till you die.

I'm astouned at the number of "kids" over on GTTP who don't remember Avalanche Run or think Magnum is one of the "old" coasters at Cedar Point.

Having a son almost as old as you.
Also, remembering growing up 4 blocks from the long-gone Riverview Park in Chicago.

I remember riding Double Loop at SFWoA (then Geauga Lake) as one of my first major coasters back when it opened in 1977. The advertising campaign was pretty intense and the park even built a pathway that led guests to an area directly in front of the loops so that those who were too frightened could watch others subject themselves to this amazing contraption.

This year, the Loop turns 25. Uhhh... I guess I am getting old!

ProgRay (who is amazed that songs he grew up with like "Hungry Like the Wolf" and "Billie Jean" are 20 years old this year)

Avalanche Run, the Pirate Ride, Log Run, being too big of a baby to ride Maggie when it opened and people boarn after 1983 really make me feel old LOL.  But really not old its just a what the heck i still feel like I am 17 but dang I am 22 kinda feeling thats all it is.  Same way high school kids keep looking younger to me.

Does CCI know how to make a bad coaster?
Im also 18 and I can't belive Batman is 10 years old already at SFGAm.
-----------------
When the Galaxi was the "big" coaster at Indiana Beach...and it cost extra!

Cedar Point's Earthquake, Pirate rides and the upside down Fun House.

Cedar Point's "big" coaster the Jumbo Jets.

The double log flume in CP's Frontier Land...can't remember its name.

My 1st major coaster The Racer at Kings Island in its debut season and screaming for dear life.

Wasn't it call Shoot the Rapids?
I guess the Jumbo Jet and original Wildcat are old now too.
Remember pre-Iron Dragon the elaborate Western Cruise?  The boat ride is a joke now compared to what it used to be.  It used to be great, especially for people like non-riding spouses.

Once again, DWeaver steals my thoughts.

I remember my first trip to SFMM. Just out of high school and Viper was the newest, baddest coaster around. I remember how crazy long the line was. The ascent to the peak of the first hill seemed to take hours. The view was astonishing (still is a good view), and the ride left me breathless.

Now,as Dweaver stated, it rarley has any line and people refer to it as a boring arrow multi-looper.

What wasnt at the mountain back then??? Batman:The Ride, Superman:The Escape, Riddlers Revenge, Goliath, Goliath Jr, Canyon Blaster, DejaVu, and X. That was just over 10yrs ago, but makes me feel quite ancient.

Off topic: My favorite band is Queensryche & some of my co-workers have never even HEARD of them. In high-school, you couldnt listen to KUPD for an hour without hearing a Queensryche song (especially JetCity Woman & Silent Lucidity).

My other car is a Giovanola!

I'm only 16, and like CoasterDude316, I can't belive B:TR is 10 years old. I remember seeing it for the first time when I was 6, maybe 7. It looked so strange with the track being upsidedown and all. Now you see that at almost every major (and a few not major) parks in the country.

The American Eagle opened the day after I graduated out of high school. That was a nice present.. I'll be 40 this year too...(sigh)

Beer, My Baby, and Coasters. Is this a greatcountry or what?

What makes me feel old is that I have no clue who most of the new cartoon characters are.

P.S. Anyone remember the Chicago Loop?

I like to tell people that the Mindbender (SFOG) was originally painted brown (it's green now).  Most people don't I talk to, even employees, don't know that.  Makes me cringe.
Ha!  That coaster has had like 7 different paint jobs. ACE ran an article on it in the last issue of Roller Coaster that detailed the paint jobs.  It was pretty funny.

Hmmm... mostly the fact that I worked at Kennywood while the Laser Loop operated, it doesn't seem like so long ago, but now 2 coasterd have passed there and we're hiring people that were born when I was 14.

Why don't people listen to The Cure anymore?

I liked Avalanche Run outside!

Sesame Street ain't the same since Mr. Hooper died.

I thought Marriott's Great America's Demon was amazing because it reached 60mph.

I remember the Penguins' stanley cup runs like yesterday, but this year's new hires were 5 years old when they won the first one.

Shaggy, this year at PKI I shook hands with....Hong Kong Phooey!  It was a treat for me, but I can imagine the little kids wondering "who's the dog behind the mask"...LMAO...

Realizing that I used to haul MagnumForce around on my sholders, and making him ride Maggie as soon as he was tall enough. And he was old enough this year to buy me a bottle of wine for Christmas!

Remembering the Upside down House, and getting my grandpa wet on Shoot-The-Rapids.

Whats life if you never get to the Po!nt?

At SFoG, I remember...
- the back entrance
- Z-Force
- Before Viper existed
- Riding the Hanson Cars and the giant swing at the front of the park
- The swinging pirate ship by the Mindbender break run

At WDW...
- The original Tiki Room show
- The Frontierland Railroad station
- The Skyway
- Mickey's Birthdayland / Starland and the Birthday Express
- Mission To Mars and the old Tomorrowland
- All the old Future World rides
- The Living Seas when it was new
- The Odyssey (As a restaurant), and the cheesy show inside
- The time before the International Gateway existed
- When Norway and Morocco were new countries
- When MGM / AK opened
- When the Polynesian Resort was called the Polynesian Village

Once you pass 21, you just get older. Instead of saying "gee, I'm 23 years old", you say "gee, I'm only 7 years away from 30"
