Stuff that makes you feel old?

And I'm only 18!

When people talk about 150 ft. coasters being "kinda small,"  I feel old.

When people ask for info on The Screamin' Demon, I feel old.

What makes YOU feel old?

Being able to remember when "The Runaway Train" was the biggest, baddest coaster at Great Adventure...... wasn't even Six Flags yet....

That last year was the 20th anniversary of the American Eagle at SFGAm and I rode it in the first week of operation.  The fact that I have seen the "Turn of the Century".  Also I remember a coaster at Dandelion park in Muskego, WI.(you would have to be from the area to know that one)

I rode the Turn Of The Century the first day it was open. That makes me feel old. I also rode the American Eagle the first day it was open in 1981.Gawd I feel old. Something pretty cool though. The American Eagle opened the day after I graduated out of high school. That was a nice present.. I'll be 40 this year too...(sigh)

That I can remember Turn of the Century, going to Magic Mountain when it only had 4 coasters, and seeing the Bat operate.....now I feel really old.....
SFMM's Viper was built12 years ago!!! It seems like just yesterday I was actually terrified by the thought of riding this monster. Now people actually call this coaster rough and boring. How could this be???!

Have you ever considered that maybe it's not the park that's the problem, but YOU?

How about the fact.....

THAT I AM 28!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

AAAAHHHHGGGGG!!!

Well, I'm almost 32.  Sigh.

When you remember that Pittfall used to be the site of Flyers.

You were there for the inaugural season of Steel Phantom.

You miss Laser Loop.

You remember the haunted house fire at Great Adventure.

There's plenty more...

I will be 22 on April 14th getting up there! High Roller at Valleyfair kind of reminds me of that!

having my first coaster be an ACE classic (Little Dipper @ Kiddieland, Chicago).  having my first looping coaster be dismantled (Wabash Cannonball @ Opryland).  remembering the hype surrounding Batman: The Ride as not that long ago.  remembering my neighbor/babysitter telling me about the Shockwave while I pissed my pants in fear (no, not literally) and thinking it wasn't that long ago.  reading this thread.

and I'm only 18 too!

Remembering waiting 2 hrs to ride CP's Corkscrew it's first year makes me feel old.
Well, old is a state of mind, but a few things do help reality hit a bit harder....

-When people post and cannot recall attractions that once existed at a park, and I can recall the park BEFORE the attractions were installed. A perfect example?  I can recall KD prior to the mountain being there!

- When PKI and I both celebrate the same landmark birthday together in the same year.  (Yes, I am 30 just like PKI)

- When kids see a character in a park and have no idea who they are, Quick Draw McGraw, Snagglepuss, Huckleberry Hound, and Jabber Jaws come to mind.

- Most significantly when kids (nieces & nephews) I can recall holding in my arms as babies are now tall or old enough to ride any attraction at any park.

But the solution for that "old" feeling is visiting a park.  Going to various parks makes me feel young and like a kid again.  That is why I love them, that is their magic.

AHK!!!  JABBER JAWS!!! lol.  I remember being so little and my parents were trying to get me to ride in that damn shark and there was no way i was getting near that thing, hehe.  I must have been 3, and I cried and cried and cried because that was the last seat open and I was just not touching the shark with a ten foot pole.  Thanks for reminding me of that, Shagster.

Looking at all of these young enthusiasts here and thinking I was once like them a long, long time ago.

Just like GregLeg, remembering the Flyers once stood where Pittfall is now.  They really should bring it back and place it in the middle of the helix of PR just like SP once was.  It would be a new midway for KP?! : )

The upside down house at CP.
Stuff that makes me feel old?  Well I can name a few if my Old Timer's disease doesn't kick in. :)

1. When I remember the Bat at Kings Island and my brother didn't even know there was a coaster called that at the park.

2. How Action Zone use to look like  Busch Gardens Tampa Bay when it was Adventure Village.
3. When the Beastie was painted yellow and me being afraid to ride it at age 6.  I'm 27 yrs. old now.
4. Also remembering the trips to Americana at age 6, too.

I feel old when I hit SFWoA and talk to a fellow coaster riders about Geuaga Lake, sometimes I either get "Where's Geuaga Lake?", or "Geeezz, that must of been years and years ago!"

It's makes me feel old abit when I can say I road the Corkscrew at Geuaga Lake, and I'm olny 24!!

My childhood park, Pontchartrain Beach, is no longer.

Remembering when the "big" coaster was the Zephyr, 68 feet tall.

Remembering the introduction of the first steel coaster.

Riding the first modern coaster with a loop.

Remembering when Wild Mice were wooden.

Remembering the advertising campaign and all the fuss about the Dragon when it opened at Adventureland.

Excalibur Crew for 2002!
What makes me feel old:
When King Cobra and Rebel Yell were THE premier rides at PKD.
Remembering when Big Bad Wolf at BGW just openned and was state of the art.
When the US Hockey team beat Russia in the 1980 olympics.  I was a kid of 14 and watched that day and I danced like everyone else, but Lord was it really 22 years ago?  *shudders*.
