what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
Haha no I'm not giving Patrick the finger
Herc was rough, but kind of fun, imho.
KG Twister and GL Villian are both rough but very fun. imho.
HP Wildcat is rough but very, very fun, imho.
Beast is rough, but it's still the best coaster on the planet (that I have ever rode, anyway.), imho.
The above statements are to assure readers that I rather like rough woodies.
SOB is the worst coaster on the planet, ironicly, imho.
One ride and I can't even LOOK at it anymore. I wanted off at the bottom of the first drop. POS!
My opinion on why the layout is boring...Drop out of station, Lift, Drop, helix, brakes, drop, Gimicky loop, ANOTHER helix, Brakes, station.
NO crossovers, NO tunnels, NO trenches, NO surprises (except arguably the drop out of the station at the very bigining of the ride.) NO headchoppers, NO ect.
I have shown a lot of restraint in discussing this topic. I'm SOB's biggest anti-fan. It felt like a jackhammer taken to the spine, and I hope ridership falls so much in the near future that the only thing for the park to do to it is to use a wrecking ball on it...OR they could just fix it, if that is possible.
I'll stop my rant now :)

Second, you've got the right idea. It wouldn't make sense to simply grab a steel coaster train and try to cram it onto the track, but what is needed is a wood coaster train that is built to similar mechanical characteristics as the steel coaster trains. The trains that Son of Beast has now are mechanically essentially (bad) copies of the Philadelphia Toboggan 3-bench articulated trains as used on, say, the American Eagle. Yes, there are some advancements. The oversize road wheels were a great idea. Bringing the axles in towards the center was necessary to get the wheelbase short enough to negotiate the loop. They also lowered the floor pan a little, and came up with a neat shock-absorbing coupler. But the front axle still can't steer, the back axle still can't steer (though it can pivot, which is why the train can roll into those banked curves without any trouble at all) and the car still has the front and back seats hanging 'way out away from the effective yaw pivot axis.
When I heard that Premier was building the trains for Son of Beast, I expected an adaptation of the Flight of Fear chassis. Instead, we got the PTC copy. Another in a long line of high expectations blown to heck by PKI. :(

Who once thought Son of Beast would be the ride to blow the "can't go over 125'" myth...
Some PKI-fanboy will try to start an SOB-love thread and chime in saying he/she thinks SOB is the greatest thing since sliced bread, only to find there is little love for the ride [except from other fanboys and people who have yet to travel outside of Ohio, lol!].
Holy Zarquon!

I'm six foot two, 300-something pounds, and Son of Beast really killed me. It was just not fun. A good coaster should be fun. Beast is fun. Son of Beast just hurts.
At least you rode it, odds are you wouldn't be able to ride millenium force.
...odds are you wouldn't be able to ride millenium force.
I'm getting annoyed with all of this, "You're probably too FAT to ride MF anyway, Fatso," talk. This is the kind of thing a moron would say to belittle anyone who discloses the fact that they are of a larger size.
I am not to large to ride MF, 6'1"-220 pounds, but these kind of remarks have been going on for a while now and it is really starting to get on my nerves. If some little punk said something like that to me in person...(Let me compose myself here).
We all still agree that coasters are fun, right? (Wow, That's going to be my new sig!)
On topic, Mamoosh is right this topic getting repeated about once a year, and I forget each year and take the bait.
I for one, passionately hate the monstrosity. The only time I've even been close to that much pain was after Goudrix at Parc Asterix. That one didn't leave me with bruises like SoB though, just a headache.

Dexter, I am not disrespecting anybody. I Was 6' 225 at coastermania last year and i had trouble with the 1 inch slack. I was also 10%bf. Even people in shape can barely ride.
Last summer i marathoned it in the back seat and loved every second of it. Personally I think magnum gives you a worse headache. My gf won't ever get on magnum again cause her neck hurt for days after riding it once. *** Edited 3/23/2005 2:05:39 AM UTC by Beast Tamer***
