also, people need to realise this is a forum, not an encyclopedia and stop saying 'search for it' instead of just taking the time it took to type that and just answer the question since they already came across it. sure the search feature can do wonders, but chances your question is a topics name are pretty slim, and having to go through all of those posts of mostly just off topic dumb replies is a damn hassle and pretty damn boring.
most of the time after a bunch of people leave some sort of insult of your knowledge and/or sarcastic replies (why? seriously, why would someone asking a question get to you so much that you have to go out of your way to post some stupid sarcastic remark just to burn them in hopes of embarrassing them and/or to make people laugh? hopefully they'll do it to someone with a bad temper and a hard fist)someone will just realize that just answering the question took thirty seconds and somehow didnt feel the need to think of something dumb and *try* to make someone feel like hell for no reason at all except their own amusement.
im not saying people are planning mass murders, but why would a site tolerate such immaturity that instigates arguments that they have to close in the end anyway
i guess if anyone agrees with me i think there should be a rule that basically says 'dont make sarcastic remarks to hurt others and doesnt contribute to the topic', whatever, something along those lines. like i said its just something ive noticed and has bothered me, it just makes new people afraid to post and existing members...i know i sound like a dorky idiot here but its the only way i can put it without being an ass myself :P

If someone personally attacks you (and by personally attack, I don't mean calling you stupid or making a sarcastic remark.) then I could see your point, but you still don't need to post these "please everybody, leave me alone." threads.
If you have a real problem with someone, maybe you should PM them and talk about it like a human being.

Like I said, stop taking the internet so seriously. Go outside, have some fun - do something, and don't worry about people's posts on a forum.
(GUYS, I KNOW the internets are serious business, but it's cool to relax and hang out okay:) )

#1 - I doubt Jeff was agreeing with you, I think his point was if you have a complaint about a comment made to you, contact a moderator, not complain about it here. His comment about looking through threads means the mods have better things to do on weekends (as should you) than look through every thread on the board 24/7
#2 - In case you haven't caught on yet, this place is like a fraternity. You don't just whip open the door of your local SAE and say "hey you guys, I'm here, like me!" they'll laugh your ass out the door. Similar setup here. Lounge around a while, get to know the members, learn the lingo, learn the mannerisms and put your well-thought out (or at least well thought out in your own head) input into the conversations. If you don't knee-jerk react to everything and take every comment to heart, you'll learn a lot and most of hte time get the information you seek without even having to pipe up.
Bottom line, this place isn't civil, it's a little rough around the edges, but it keeps it interesting. Face it, there's not a whole lot that goes on with coasters, there's a few "base facts" that people ask about from time to time and about 2-3 months out of the year, there's buzz over new rides and announcements. That'd make for some pretty boring conversation if we didn't rag on each other, roast a few trolls from time to time, and play out the inside jokes. And yes, not searching and not using Google (or your preferred search engine) is plain and simple lazy. It's a whole 5 minutes of your time to see if this is a rare topic (which most won't mind being brought up again) or something that gets discussed ad-nauseum every 2 months!
So if you don't like it, just go away. Your contributions are not necessarily missed because someone else will probably say the same thing as you anyway in time (something I noticed in my whole ... 9 days away).
Did anybody read alla that into it? I didn't.
All Jeff said was complain in a private message, not out here. And cite something specific.
The last person on earth to complain about civility is someone who implies that other people on the board aren't attractive, isn't that right CedarPoint82? Did anyone ask you to do that? Was it on topic at all? You have absolutely NOTHING to add to a thread about civility.
Practice what you preach by apologizing to the posters you've snubbed. There's no hiding behind Jeff's skirts for you here.
As for bellyaching about the site and people on it...lemme tell you, it's been done before. Here, lemme link you to the 53-page opus.

Good advice for any online community. Jumping in without learning the flow has been a problem since the early Usenet days.

I admit, I've seen some pretty stupid post in the past and it does help to do the "SEARCH" before you post a new topic. As more new people come to the site (like me) there will be a lot more repeat topics its inevidable(sp?). So for all you more experienced members on the board, help us "newbies" out. We want to enjoy this site just as much as you do and we all want to make it fun and Kick Ass!(yes I said it..lol)

This forum has a lot of great people on it, and we all share a common intrest. It doesn't mean we're all "searching for coaster news" all day. I come here to chill and discuss things, plain and simple.

...unlike most of the people on here, my career doesnt allow me to sit by the mouse and the keyboard, searcing for new coaster news every 30 seconds of the day...alot of us have real jobs, real careers, and cant sit on coasterbuzz or the internet 24/7 to find out whether Dragster's cable snapped, Hydra's lift hill topped off, or some support for Great Adventure's rocket coaster arrived to its site. Thanks for listening to my 2 cents :)
Does this real career require chugging on Da HaterAde, or is that another hobby?
Just because my job of the past 10 years (or Gator's) lets us sit at desks in front of PCs doesn't make them make-believe jobs. They have yet to start paying me in Monopoly money, ya know?
Nor do you see me hatin' on folks whose jobs require travel and therefore ride coasters on their companies' dime. Yeesh. Lighten up!

A lot of the "criticism" I see is usually to people who are speaking out their butts on things they don't know, or people who have been negative to others for no apparent reason, etc. So to call someone out at times like that doesn't seem so wrong. Maybe this forum can be "rough around the edges", but its the best and most interesting roller coaster site I have found!
Keep up the good work :)
If I still rolled in the Minivan of Justice she'd have to get a seat.
I wonder who I'd toss out tho? The last two seats were so vigorously fought for....
