Six Flags Worlds of Adventure wants zoning variance to build hyper

Posted | Contributed by Bubba

According to a report today in The Aurora Advocate, Six Flags officials have approached Aurora, Ohio's city council for a zoning variance so they can build a 200-foot roller coaster on the marine life side of the park. The ride would cross over Squires Rd. and one of the show arenas would have to be relocated.

Go to http://sfwoa.atomic-online.net/ for all your SFWoA needs!
Don't be counting your chickens before they hatch. If you read the article carefully, it even says don't get on the horse just yet. Alot of zoning stuff has to take place. Believe me, I want a hyper just a much as the next guy but we'll just have to wait and see...

On the top of Magnum's second hill I'am the one who screams, "I can see Canada!"
All I can say is I hope other SF parks (ahem..SFoG) will get Hypers too...

Mindbender...Can you hear the Riddler chuckling?
I sure hope they get it cleared with the city, cause that would rock. Plus I don't see what the big deal is with noise, I could only wish to have a coaster rocket past my house every few minutes. :)
if there going to build a hyper, and with CP so close why don't they go the extra mile and make giga bigger and faster and better the MF.
Sounds like a 4D.the article decsribed the lift hill as a camel hump.
I hope this proposal gets passed and they do add a hyper coaster to round out their impressive coaster lineup.

Please add either an Intamin or B&M hyper coaster. I do not want to see a Giovanola or Morgan coaster grace the land's of SFWoA.

coaster bob is probally right, cause that is somthing CP doesn't have and probally won't get. Plus SFMM has got one.

"THE PARK spokesman said Premier Parks' facility in Darien, N.Y. has a coaster which passes over a road, and there have been few problems because fencing shields the road from falling objects.\

...and when did we get this ride? No such ride exists in the park know as SFDL. Hmmmmmmmm.. story sounds fishy to me , and so does this newspaper company... have we seen it announced anywhere else? or by Six Flags?

Colorado Avalanche: 2001 Stanley Cup Champions!
For some reason I don't think it's a 4-D, primarily because the article states that the coaster will utilize the natural terrain of the land, and a hyper utilizes it much more than a 4-D would.

If SFWOA places a hyper and some flatrides on the wildlife side, I'd never need to visit the other side park!

"Hi, my name is Lara Croft. Welcome to my world".
It said camelback, didn't it? The first thought in my head was a TA2K. I mean, it is a big camelback at the tallest point. However, could this be justified with the terrain hugging mentioned? Could it also be a B&M that features the old hump at the top of the lift?

Six Flags America? No, no! My name means "Sarcasm-For-All"
Geeze! 5 coasters in 3 years...go Six Flags! Don't worry Cedar Point...you will always remain "America's RollerCoast" :)

(You're probably forgetting Roadrunner Express)
Well, I don't know. SF is building up quite an aresenal of coasters down the road from CP. I mean look, SFWoA just got X-Flight, and before they got 3 major coasters in 2000 (BKF, S:UE, and Villian) and Roadrunner Express. SF is beefing up little old Geauga Lake in to a huge scream park to compete with Cedar Point. I see CP putting in a few coasters to get their record and to compete with SFWoA. As far as a hyper, I don't know, the citizens seem like they don't like having an amusement park next door(who would...besides Coasterbuzzers:)) and are against everything the park does to expand. But hey, maybe it will be granted, maybe not. Once again, I don't know. That's just my 2 cents.

Too tired to add anything else.

I must also add my 2 cents as well. The article has a quote from local resident Helen George. Helen says "This coaster would be 500 feet from my back yard."

I don't know about you, but I would LOVE to have a coaster be only 500 feet from my back yard! That would just RULE.

If that person is so mad, sell your house and move. I bet everyone on this forum would love to live where Helen does.

My god. The devils horns are just flaming. Does this not say that they want to put CP up on a pedastal and make them take notice? I for one am not into the competition thing but with all that SF has put in their Ohio park, you just have to think that they are making Cedar Fair tremble a little bit. SF is on a mission and it isnt from god.
