Why does everything have tobe there. It seems like they only care about magic mountain.

WHAT!!!! look at sfwoa they have been getting coasters at a huge rate , look at sfog deja, acrophobia , superman. some of you guys dont understand sixflags is a buisness their going to put money in the parks that make money ,where the rides pay for them selfs quick. so just get used to it parks in big markets will have the biggest bugets that equals more and bigger coasters. and what are you complaining about sfgam got 3 coasters sinc 99 what more do you want?

I suppose that this means that SF's original plan for SFA of 8 coasters in the first 8 years is out the window now....Oh well

I just feel bad for parks like Great Escape that haven't seen any major upgrades and were supposed to get them in the "near future"....looks like they can kiss major expansion goodbye! I realize that SF is still planning on spending money, but what is the likelihood that a park with low attendance is going to see major upgrades...pretty slim IMO.

Happy Coastering!

An interesting viewpoint, I think. But wouldn't SF also benefit from supplying their less-successful parks with new rides.....such as SFEG or SFAW....in order to increase the popularity and cash flow at those parks as well?

Depends. Is the market there to attract as many people to go to the park? If they build something new, will more people show up each year, or is the market already being used up? At a place like SFGAm, there are two metropolitan areas that have no other parks around: Chicago and Milwaukee. The more people that can be attracted by new rides, the better. The popularity of the small parks is more difficult to change, because if the market doesn't exist, there won't be people going to experience the new ride.

I know what I wanted to say, but I don't think I said it right. Sorry.

What are you guys talking about? Since when do any of you have access to the company's long-term capital improvement plan, especially what's going where?

Quiet. It's all speculation and we know it.

Quiet? Are you talking to me? I sure hope not.

People who speculate don't refer to things as fact.

Jeff is right about the lack of REAL information; but I'm pretty sure the parks that are going to get the most are, Great Adventure, Magic Mountain, Worlds of Adventure, Over Georgia, Over Texas and Great America. Those parks had the hightest guest populations. If i'm wrong, fell free to correct me. I believe Great Adventure and Magic Mountain are their main parks.

Six Flags Great America is da bomb!!!! We got Shockwave which was the tallest looper ever when it came out, we got the first Batman type, or Batman period, We had the fastest wooden coaster for sooo many years til recently ! We have the classic ol Whizzer which soon will be gone and missed, We have the first hyper twister Raging Bull. Point is, Great America gets all the goodies first. And in 97 it was going to have Freeze, but instead got Giant Drop . Next year look for that Superman or maybe even an X. But at least the parks not known for clones.!! SFGAm is awesome!!

I didn't mean it as a harsh quiet, more of a joking quiet; sarcasm is hard to convey through text... Sorry if it sounded bad...

What are you talking about AmericanEagle02?!? You have the first version of like every coaster. Not sayin Great America isn't great but that's not a very good argument. And X?!? Come on that straight up horse.

Ahhhh, trust the youngins to talk outa they asses. Great America was not the first to get an impulse, floorless, flying coaster, LIM/LSM, nor intamin drop ride.

I have an example of this situation,it may and may not be because of cutbacks, but,Six Flags started(Yes!Building a Park!)building Six Flags Tennnessee last year, there are pictures on the net somewhere, but they laid out the parking lot and some rides(Merry Go Roun, countless others)and have just recently stopped. It may be because of this.(By the way does anyone have any information on Six Flags Tennessee?)

Yeah right,we all know that SF isn't in to building new parks, heck they can't even afford the expenditures for the parks they've got now.

Does anyone want to take a guess at just which parks may get rides next year?

Defiantly Great Adventure. They have to get something with heavy themeing! Either a Big flat ride or a medium intense coaster with Themeing! Something from Quantum (4D) or a 4-5 Inversion B&M stand up/ flying. After all the mess they went thhrough this year. They need something to keep the guest coming back.

How much did SF spend in 2002? Surely not nearly as much as in the other three seasons under Premier's rule. If it was around $125 mil, I guess we could expect to see the same kind of additions as we did this year, and that wasn't too bad, was it?

SF spent $140 million on capital expenditures for 02 and that only resulted in four or five US parks getting rides, the others just got improvements or nothing at all.

SFNE -B:TDK

SFOG-S:UF

SFEG- The flying coaster

La ronde-La vampire, a B:TR clone.

SFFT and SF STL- Scooby doo dark ride

SFDL-shipwreck falls &slingshot

All the other parks in the chain especially those with premiere launched coasters got new lap bar restraint systems to replace the original OTSR's.

As far as the 2003 expenditures go we don't know just yet which park is getting what aside from SFWOA which is getting a hyper but I suspect the usual parks will get something in 03 and the rest nothing.

The usual suspects are: SFGRADV,SFMM,SFOG and SF great america.

nitro230ft, what are you referring to saying "all the mess they went through this year?" The park focused on the family aspect of the amusement industry this year and went with the festivals, there is nothing wrong with that. And the park is still bringing in the people. The guests will keep coming back by offering a variety, and not just a new thrillride every year. There needs to be something for the whole family, and that is what this year was about, offering something for everyone. Parks realize that not everyone is into thrill rides, so sometimes they need to do something different.
