88 coasters in Track Record!! Hypersonic XLC Coaster # 100 in July.
Nitro Laps:105
B+R Launches:28

That Sucks! It doesn't really surprise me though considering rumours we have heard about Six Flags.
Ok if there scaling back that much lets figure wats its gonna let us have. Figure the 20 sumtin parks and with rides like X costin 24 mil and wicked twister 9 we wont be seein much for a while.

Track Record: 110 and counting.....

ok that means parks like sfgadv ,sfmm, sfog and sfwoa will continue at there rate of expansion while other parks get nothing .I fine with me

-----------------
I just want to ride as many coasters as posible

Anyone who believed Six Flags could continue the rate of expansion it's had for the past few years is living in a fantasy.

Funny thing is, I don't think their plans impacted the CF parks' plans much--if at all. They just kept doing what they do best.

You have to wonder if SF parkgoers will continue to expect 2 coasters a year. Spoiled enthusiasts will wish (and adamantly imagine) yes. The real world answer will be a resounding NO. People will keep coming anyway.

The CPlaya 100--6 days, 9 parks, 47 coasters, 2037 miles and a winner.....LoCoSuMo.

Don't take that as the gospel. That's not coming from Six Flags and shouldn't be accepted as fact. I'm not saying it's not true, but let's get some confirmation.

Of course that is fine with you, but what about parks like SFEG and other small parks that already get screwed over as far as expansions. It REALLY sucks, but I don't even think the parks that you listed will continue at the rate they are. SFMM will figure out the deal with X before you guys see a new coaster.

Oh yummy, another debate on Six Flags financial status.

While not confirmed in any way, I would doubt the validity of the story. This falls pretty much in line with what those who know about money and business have been predicting all along. You're still talking big bucks and parks will continue to expand, just not at the ridiculous pace that Six Flags has taken the past few years.

It's all falling into place and SF will be doing great in a few years. Too bad my only experiences with the chain thus far are with SFWOA and they've both been bad. Still, I'd put my money behind them. Smart business plan and one that I've been predicting (and agree with) for some time now.

Dorney Park visits in 2002: 13

That really comes as no surprise to me. You gotta wait for some ROI before you start building again.
Not suprising at all. With their stock very close to an all time low how could you expect a third of a billion in capital improvement every year. Next thing to come may be mass layoffs. not good for the company, visitors, and employees at all. the stock is around 13 bucks (at least it's not like a quarter like worldcom). to compare, Cedar Fair stock is at around 23 bucks and has not dipped below 22 since january. it's very steady though, most likely because they're a more slow and steady company just giving around 50 million in capital improvement per year.
Maybe those little expansions will be the key expansions to make every park better. Still, I'm ok with this, I'm not nearly done with riding SFNE's rides enough. If you put it into this state of mind, all of the fans of the big parks, you can ride all of your 15 coasters and still only have ridden them like 5 times in your lifetime. Do you catch my drift?

-----------------
I lost my hat on Poison Ivy. How pathetic.

I look for the parks to still expand just not at the pace they were. Dropping 5 coasters in a park in a single year is a bit extreme. But a park adding a new attraction every 2 years isn't that big of a stretch.

1) "Insider" my ass... they've publicly said this. Heck, we reported it more than a year ago.

2) What did anyone expect? You can't spend like that year after year.

I still say that unless half of the chain is blown off the map by an act of God, the company is financially sound for the forseeable future.

I wonder if the $125 million SF is spending a year on their parks includes SFoG and SFoT. If so, then that leaves even less for the other parks.

Scroll down to page 56. If SF is cutting down on spending for their parks, it wont be SFoG or SFoT.

PatMan... Wicked Twister is at Cedar Point, which is not a Six Flags park.

Now that they've virtually gutted the competition....I guess it's time to sit back and let their investments pay off.....CF and Paramount are left, as well as a few small family-owned parks, but SF has created for themselves a *niche* the size of the Grand Canyon. Like any good business would (see: Standard Oil), THIS is the time to let the competitors struggle for survival....
There is truth to this article, though i don't know how much. SFWOA saw no significant capital spending for 2002, and there doesn't seem to be any on the horizon (save to potential for a hyper of some sort). Although it doesn't seem to be the company's style, a lot can be done with the money for capital improvements in other areas then coasters and other major ride additions. Perhaps they will now focus on other aspects of their parks besides the coasters and improve the general condition of the retail services and such. That can make as much of an impact as big rides if done correctly.

I'll take a better look at that site if and when I can ever get my text size on my computer to a readable level.

However if this is true it really does stink for most of us and with SFOG and SFOT seeing a lions share of the expenditure proceeds it looks like most of the other parks will not get anything at all not to mention their season pass sales will drop dramatically starting with mine.

Man that stinks! I can only say that I really hope that my home park (SFGAM) still gets a flying coaster in the next two years. That would be perfect for me.

Off to CP in August, Hopefully off to two other parks in July though!! YEA!!!! :-D It will be a good summer!
