Did you know that 1 in every 5 American teenagers believes that the US declared its independence from FRANCE???

Off to CP in August, Hopefully off to two other parks in July though!! YEA!!!! :-D It will be a good summer!
Questions:

With certain parks adding their own up-charge rides like sky coasters, go-karts, and slingshots...
...where does that money go?? Does it go in "the pot" to the whole Six Flags fund, or does it go into the actual revenue for that particular park that generated the revenue??
I ask this because of the statement that they said they'll be spending so & so much dollars next year. Do the parks that actually get extra revenue in (upcharge attractions among other sources of revenue) and create a lot of profit for themselves get anything in return that they DESERVE, or are they divided equally what the whole Six Flags corporation sees fit for that park??
Again... is this a pot-luck fund in which all parks collaborate together all their profits, and then they divide it equally to where the Six Flags corporation sees "fit" or "needy" of yearly additions & improvements?

....Summer is only a short 91 days long. How much of that time are you going to use at the amusement parks??
hmmm....no expansion means no new coaster at SFGAm next year. which means...
WE KEEP THE WHIZZER!! YAY!!!!

SAVE THE WHIZZER!!!
Guys... read my post above. There is no rumor or mystery. The company said last year they would reduce capital spending. And even then, it doesn't mean the spending has outright ended, it just won't happen at the furious pace it did for several years.

There aren't that many parks... If everybody waited until a prototype was proven, then there would be no prototypes. SF has done some good things for the coaster industry in that respect. I think we'll still see prototypes for SF parks.
SFGAm is one of the bigger parks, and it will most likely be getting something big. I feel sorry for the people with small SF parks as their home parks because if anybody is going to be affected by this, it's the smaller parks with smaller markets.
The only surprise here is how long the expansion went on before the cutback. This is no big deal, and if anything is a GOOD thing for the future -- by cutting back the hemmoraging now, Six Flags will be working to make sure they STAY in business.
That's not a bad thing, that's a good thing. (tm)

As Dave mentioned, OKC makes the decisions....granted, the BOOM in coaster building had to come to an end sometime, and there WILL be continued expansion in some parks, but the parks that get "goodies" will continue to be decided the same way it always has been.....those parks that show a jump in attendance when a new attraction is put in will continue to get new attractions......those parks that get a new attraction only to show "consistent" attendance.....well, they'll get diddly....
it's not rocket science...or even a simple cooking show.....just business....

Welcome to the Cedar Point skyride....we'll take you up 50, drop you down 30, all at an amazing speed of 6 miles per hour....we won't see you back unless you make the return trip!
I'm sure there are going to be expansions but it's not going to be a 4d or a B&M hyper. Expect to see lots of flat rides being ordered over the next few years and maybe a few coasters. Seeing how Great Adventure didn't get anything this year, maybe they will be the ones to get a coaster. I'm not too mad cause there are a lot of great flat rides out there that look thrilling. Six Flags doesn't have to spend 9-18mill on a coaster just to thrill their guest.

What they really need to do is make some expenditures and build some new rides at the parks that got passed over in 2002 and pass up on the parks that got something in 2002.
I'm probably going to boycott rides like the go karts and sky coaster for the remainder of the season because I don't think it's right nor do I want my money going to pay for another SF park to get a 2003 attraction when it should help pay for the park that you spend it in to get a new attraction.
It looks like I'll be spending more time and money at PKD in 2003.
Perhaps they will invest in smaller coasters. So, instead of spending $24 million on another 4D, they could spend 4-5 million on a couple of woodies. Plus, they could also look at smaller steel coasters and see a decrease in purchasing over a B&M which range around 12-15 million each. So they could look into purchasing less expensive coasters, yet be able to add several more at other six flags parks as well. Take $20 million and invest in several woodies instead of one big expensive steel coaster. It would still keep people coming to their parks.
Six Flags Great America I still believe will be getting a new coaster. I mean seriously. How many buzzers is great america home to? It's home to alot. Also. I've seen the park sooo crouded this year. Ticket sales for Great America have to be up because there is no where else to go for us in Illionis. There has been soo much business at the park I don't see a reason a new coaster will not appear. So I'm saying get your rides on the poor whizzer while you can.(Remember the saying: U build the coaster the people will come) That's Great America. Everyone loves g.a. I also think that if your six flags park has alot of businss and the money to get a new ride.Thats great. Plus I really don't consider Six Flags Magic Mountain as the Xtream park. I'm sorry but, it's not that Xtream. Why does everything have tobe there. It seems like they only care about magic mountain. And YES I went there this summer. Ok, I'm done.

Sorry btcheater, I could not make heads ot tails of your post. What exactly are you trying to say? It sounds basically like your saying that because Six Flags Great America is your homepark, and apparently "everyone" loves it, that means they're getting a new coaster? I'm sorry, that makes no sense to me.
And if all SF cares about is SFMM, why the heck would Great America be getting another coaster? One year after Deja Vu and V2?
Something doesn't smell right...

Actually, OutKast, I think what btpcheater was trying to convey in his first post was the opinion that SF would likely be more willing to build new coasters in an already highly successful park like SFGAm because they know the popularity of the park will guarantee a short turnover on the investment.
An interesting viewpoint, I think. But wouldn't SF also benefit from supplying their less-successful parks with new rides.....such as SFEG or SFAW....in order to increase the popularity and cash flow at those parks as well?
