Six Flags Over Texas unveiled plans Tuesday for Superman Tower of Power, a 315-foot tall S&S tower.
Read more from The Star-Telegram.
A 315 foot combo S&S tower. They could call it "Steaming Pile of Crap: The Ride" and I'd still go ride it.
At least this one isn't called Playstation: The Ride. I mean, come on. The general public loves Superman this and Batman that. It never ceases to amaze me that "coaster enthusiasts" don't realize, the park isn't putting stuff in for just them. Coaster Enthusiasts are famous for finding ways to NOT eat in parks, etc.. The park is catering to the teenagers who come in and spend all their parents money on all that Superman themed merchandise and then have to go buy that $4.00 soda.
Its just a like a movie theatre, folks. They don't care about showing you movies. They want you to buy from the concession stand because *that* is where they make their cash. In a theme park, the rides are there to draw you in, and then suck every cent out of your wallet. They don't care if you ride the rides, just spend your money! And if the name 'Superman' draws in a bigger crowd, thats what they're gonna do. The proof? The BIGGEST year AstroWorld EVER had was they year they put in Batman: The Escape. People saw the name Batman, and FLOCKED to it. General Public = Sheep. Name recognition is a powerful tool. In a day and age where your typical park guest says "Lets go ride the blue one with the loop-de-loops" ... but if you put something with NAME RECOGNITION .. "Let's go ride The Batman!" ... well, you've struck gold, haven't you?

It is the tallest S&S in the country at 313'. Supreme Scream's stat is 312' tall, not 325'. This is the stat it's been given since opening in 1998.
And all three towers are not Space Shots. One is a drop, one is a shot, and one is a combo. Hopefully that clears some things up, seeing as how SFoT didn't!

Your "argument" doesn't hold any water. To begin with, how are they being lazy? They are using an original name! Plus, are all of those "30" Superman rides in the same park? No. This is SFOT's first Superman ride.
Also, how is this a dumb name? Superman is supposed to jump large buildings. Even though you won't be jumping (or launching) over the towers, it's still bascially the same.

According to the email I received from Sandra Daniels, PR Rep for SFOT, all three towers will run in Combo mode. Thanks for playing!

I'm not saying what it is one way or the other, but it wouldn't make sense to run the combo if ALL the towers didn't run the combo, because then no one would want to ride the other towers.

If the shoe fits, find another one.
Let's also not forget that Six Flags paid good money to license the Marvel superheroes' names and likenesses...hence they need to get every dollar's worth by sticking them everywhere they can.

Well, there is that issue, too. You're paying a ton of money to license the characters, might as well use it. Except I thought it was DC comics, not Marvel.
And speaking of acronyms, doesn't ACE stand for All you Can Eat?

Hope you're right, as that's the only logical way to run the ride. But from the info I saw prior, it was not the case. I guess we'll see when it opens!

Well, remember, Six Flags Ohio said Serial Thriller had 7 inversions when it first opened (did they ever fix that?) AstroWorld did too, except they just copied SFO's artwork and press release (we had a different person in our PR department then. Our new PR person has corrected it by saying 5 inversions) ... so we all know Six Flags isn't the smartest when it comes to facts.. just like that 200 foot tall boomerang at Fiesta Texas that the website claims they have... (laugh)

I believe that all 3 towers are capable of running the combo, but can be changed at any time to just run in either space shot or turbo drop mode.
Sure, but why? As it was pointed out, the combo tower would be the only one people would want to ride.

Don't forget that SFNE's Scream! has two combo towers and a Turbo drop in its complex. They run theirs with all three on occasion, but not sure which combinations they actually run.
And yeah, parks are great at messing up stats. The Serial Thriller one killed me because SFAW just copy/pasted Geauga Lake's! Ahhh, good times.
