For those of us who have not made it to Atlanta yet, where is the Great Gasp's lot in the video? As for for the coaster not dropping below grade, doens't the park have flooding problems? Maybe that's why? I have been wanting to try Georgia Cyclone, GASM and Mindbender for 15 years. This one looks great as well. I just might finally make it down there in 2006.
I'd expect netting under the track there, just for liability's sake.

I thought the same thing. I see a tunnel or net or something (aka crap catcher) being built at midway, driveway, or any other type of crossover.
Wow. What a great way to round off there coaster selection. This ride looks fantastic. I was surprised at first about the first drop only being 170 ft, but the second is 175 ft which will be very fun. Besides, look at all those bunny hills on the return to the station. If SFoG is your home park, consider yourself a lucky individual.

This looks like the best coaster B&M has ever built.
Last summer during a visit to SFoG I watched a kid throw gravel at Scorcher from the pathway to the parking lot. When I said "Hey, stop that. You could kill somebody." the parents said "He's only 10!"

Apparently being 10 makes it okay to throw rocks at people who are moving at high speeds. If this is any indication of the Atlanta mindset, I'd expect more stuff to be thrown at the coaster than from it.

^That's the mindset of people in general.

After looking at the park map, I now have an understanding of where the ride fits in. Wow, they really crammed it in there, kinda like Hershey's Comet Hollow. I'm even more impressed now.

Finally, a hypercoaster at SFOG, which rounds out the coaster collection at the park very nicely. Of the Six Flags parks this is certainly one of my favorites. Since the lawsuit with Time Warner, there have been a lot of nice additions.

This being the second Goliath, I doubt we will see the giant themed letters at the gate. I wish B&M had more control on naming their creations. Six Flags should recognize that they don't have a great deal of skill in naming coasters, given the six different names they tend to recycle through. Starship would have been nice.*** This post was edited by rc-madness 9/1/2005 4:21:19 PM ***

say good bye to that beautiful view of Georgia Scortcher.... Looks like a blast! That helix may not be an intense as it looks since it really opens up the further you go down...very nice lookin ride!
Quote:" Those hills. OMG those hills. The return helix just looks so insane!
It says it's scheduled to open April 1st, just in time for the Spring Fling event. :-P"

Yep, I can't wait. Spring Fling will be on the 22nd, SP ERT will be sometime in April too. Only 7 months away..

By the way I have some photos from today's ceremony on my site:

There are some interesting Gasp photos too.

The coaster looks excellent, and on top of that, I feel like a gigantic (goliath even? ow... ow.. bad pun) congratulations is owed to Keith McVeen on a phenomenal rendering of the ride. I had begun to doubt you after the beautiful but rather jerky rendering you did of Hydra at Dorney, but the fluidity of this animation and the obvious care that went into the rendering of Goliath are extremely impressive. Great, great work.

Now, what excuse can I make up that requires a visit Georgia...

Goliath at Six Flags Over Georgia looks cool. Goliath looks a excellent coaster, but it makes me want to go there next year to ride Goliath. One of my favorite on this coaster is the airtime hills and the helix. Since Goliath is built by
B&M which is a good thing. Because they build some of the best steel coasters in world besides Intamin, and Giovanola. I think Goliath will be beatiful, and a great coaster.

Sincerely
Will Kovich

I think this ride looks fun also but the first drop just going over those buildings seems like the ride was just placed over everything
Excellent news, even though I feel so pre-occupied with sympathy for Katrina's victims. SFoG now has one of the best coaster lineups outside of Sandusky and Gurnee.
Is it just me or does it seem like SFoG gets short changed. Goliath and the Georgia Scorcher are the smallest coasters B&M has built of each type.

This is a great addition to the line-up but I was hoping for a full hyper.

Looks like a full hyper to me! Im sure it will ride like one.

Don't forget how small S:UF and B:TR are...

But this coaster does look like a winner. Also, Most of Gasp's previous location (queue and everything) will be taken up but Goliath's station and queue.

TWO QUESTIONS; 3 COMMENTS:

Q1: Is that really what the surrounding area around that park looks like? I didn't realize it was so mountainous.

Q2: Do you think there will be any car accidents from people watching the coaster come down towards them instead of watching the road?

C1: The video is what I was hoping RCT3 would have looked like!

C2: I LOVE the fact that it passes over other rides and the fact that you can tell that you are doing it!

C3: Almost a question: I've noticed that these really tall coasters are going very fast when they get to the break runs- I kinda feel like they should make the runs longer to exhaust more speed...

Bartman,
Georgia Scorcher is not even close to being the smallest B&M stand-up. Ride Vortex at PGA. I would go as far to say it's probably half of the ride time of Scorcher.

SFoG is getting a coaster with 4 drops over 100ft. tall and somehow they're getting short changed? Honestly, I saw this ride announcement and thought the exact opposite. Like along the lines of "Gee...SFoG gets all the good stuff."
