Six Flags Over Georgia today announced Superman Ultimate Flight, a flying coaster by Swiss firm Bolliger & Mabillard. The coaster has been under construction for some time as photos have circulated around the Internet of track sections that have arrived.
Read the official press release from Six Flags.
At least Six Flags didn't let us down with the name choice (sarcasm).
When the comercial comes out, lets bet what coaster they will show in the footage! This should be a fun game...
I guess Viper at SFMM, but flipped upside down! =)
On the other hand, I was just talking to my cousin this morning and we are getting started on planning our next (Major) trip for May. Other people who plan their trips in advance might now consider SFoG more strongly than they wouldve last week. The addition of a B&M AIR machine at SFoG should boost their attendance from other states, as it will be the only one in the US, although to the GP, whats the difference between Stealth and SFoG Flyer???

My other car is a Giovanola!
On a side note, the press release says Mindbender has three loops...did I miss one?

PKI, they've created suspense. I've never seen more conversation on a ride announcement.
And hey, at this point, I think we're all very excited about the ride, but there does come a point where the marketing names get really old. While it can be argued that people in any given market don't know about the Supermen at other parks, do you really want to name a unique ride with a used name? X, Millennium Force and others might not even be good names, but they're attached to unique rides and there's no confusion from a national standpoint about what and where those rides are.

Anyway, complaining about the name bit is getting pretty tiresome. Like the name was a huge surprise.
Anyone think they can pull off a March 23rd opening? I mean, looking back, the parks other two B&M's didn't open til early May. But when did those coasters go under construction?
I think they have the hardest parts of erecting the ride complete already, and most everything else is low-to-ground curves, not requiring a lot of time to construct. If this thing is structurally complete by first week of March (which I think is a strong possibility, given the fact of the track length being only 2,759' long, not to mention that's about five weeks away) I don't think it's out of the realm of possibility that it could open with the park.
Either way, from what I've seen, it does look like a pretty fun ride. Can't wait to find out for myself.
