Okay, a new ride is coming to SFO. No I don't know what kind of ride it is but it will be 115 feet tall! It will be located in the front corner of the park near Superman. Geauga Lake road will be moved around the parking lot so the ride can be placed there. So it is pretty safe to assume that Mr. Hyde is coming down! I have no website but if you have the Cleveland Plain Dealer look at Saturady's Metro section and you will find the info there!
[Ed. note: Normally this would be placed under the rumor section, but we have more information that confirms some of this information. Read the Plain Dealer's article. A source close to CoasterBuzz confirms that there are Vekoma parts on-site:
"A good friend of mine was at SFO over the weekend and looked in detail at some skids of stuff in the RV parking area. They were clearly marked Vekoma and were very large J-shaped anchor bolts. Accompanying them were large plates with octagonal bolt patterns on them. There was also other writing in Dutch on these skids. There is talk that GL Road will finally be rerouted around the north of the parking lot, and a Vekoma Flying Dutchman will be located in the Superman area and the corner of the parking lot."]
I was the one who contributed this and I have the newspaper artical right next to me. They have alittle diagram that shows where the new RIDE will be. I said RIDE because they refer to it as a ride. The map gives a broad idea of what it will be. If you want a picture of the map, e-mail me at Bubster53@aol.com. Now that all of you are talking about it, you got me believing that a Flying Dutchman could be coming next year!!!

I like clones, it gives everyine a chance to get a rollercoaster without having to morgage the park to do it. A coaster is still a coaster, and some clones, like B:TR, S:ROS, Invertigos, ect, ect, ect...rock.

Where would we be without the rumor mill?
A couple things:
1. I wouldnt be suprised to see a clone of stealth, but vekoma has made custom designs in the past.
2. I'm sure they can figure out somthing with space, but I don't think you'd be able to fit stealth in just the space where the road is at sfo. This why i also wouldn't be suprised to see a custom flying coaster.
3.Has anyone heard anything about the name? I heard a posiblity of Medusa. And also that P/L sign in storage (can be seen on refreshinglook.com)
4.I'd love to see a new coaster come, but quite honsetly, i'd rather see SFO work on capacity, making some flat rides, and just making some capital improvements.

"Go Full Force, Millenium Force"
If you think about it, SFO has no real defanite favorite. Some consider Superman, others think Villian, Serial Thriller, or even Batman (I don't like that much). If SFO gets a flying dutchman for the 2001 season that would probally be the defanite favorite. As for cloning, I hope they don't. I rode Stealth this year by traveling 2000 miles expecting to experience the thrill of my lifetime. It was defanitly to short, and I really never felt like I was flying. I feel like I am flying on an inverted coaster more than a flying coastedr.
I think that it is crazy trying to compare SFO with Cedar Point. I live about half way inbetween SFO and Cedar Point and when people go to SFO they think nothing of it. When people go to Cedar Point they talk about it for weeks. Cedar Point has absolutly no GIMMICK rides. Cedar Point manages to build good rides along with breaking records. That is why they have the most rides. They know that the rides they build are idoled. And they know that year after year they build a world class ride. Cedar Point doesn't have a record amount of coasters because nobody likes them.
The way it looked in the paper, the ride would be built across the road. They also said in the paper that they will be spending 2 million dollars to pave another road that will extend behind the new enhanced parking lot.
I know that it is a little past subject, but Spiderman will probably not be coming to a Six Flags park anytime soon. Six Flags has a deal with DC Comics and Spiderman is a Marvel Comic. Don't forget that Universal Studios has the rights to Marvel. The new ride will more than likely be Superman themed. A flying coaster would make a lot of sense in a Superman theme.

Going back to the topic of an exact clone of Stealth: If they want that coaster to make a real impact, they've gotta make it longer, loopier, more thrilling, and much much more flight time then Stealth.
Stealth did have eight inversions, from what I have been told.

Where would we be without the rumor mill?
I don't think they'd have two Superman-themed rides in the same park... hasn't happened yet, as far as I know. It would most likely cause confusion among a lot of members of the general public. "Let's go ride Superman." Which one?
Not to mention the fact that they'd be right next to each other.

How dare you vanquish the Steel Phantom without his consent? Fear the Phantom's Revenge.
why dont they evr make rides other than the good guys in comic books. other than jokers jinx i cant think of to many rides with the bad guy typr themeing (villian doesnt count) . they should take a look at kamikaze at badnitrus, now thats a flying coaster!
Actually, there are many rides themed to various other DC villains: Mr. Freeze, Riddler, Posion Ivy, Penguin, and Two-Face.
As far as the flying coaster goes, I don't think it will be a clone of Stealth. One of the biggest complaints I've been reading about it is the lack of true flying time. When the rumors were going around that PKI was going to get one, the talk was that there would be fewer inversions and more flying. Hopefully Six Flags and Vekoma are aware of this and will come up with a different layout.
I have heard that too RagingBull, the lack of actual flying time. As for the inverions on Stealth, I have heard 8, 4 and Guide to Ride 2000 says 3, and they also report on it being 115' tall.
As for 2 rides called Superman, very doubtful, though they need to give it a Superman theme like Kypton Comit or Metropolis Airlines..something like that. We already have Super Hero Speedway. A big Superman in a 50's area doesn't fit all that well

Even though it is not confirmed, and BUBBA didn't say this was a Flying coaster in the first place, the Editors note (below the origanal post) states thats there are "parts on site"(from a close source to coasterbuzz). Its just a friendly reminder that nothing is set in stone until it has been announced.
Batman: The Ride and Riddler's Revenge are very near each other at SFMM...in fact, they make up the whole Gotham-themed part of the park. IF this flying coaster thing is indeed true and especially if SFO is getting rid of Mr. Hyde's Nasty Fall (which is the only real attraction with the 50's theme), I expect SFO to convert that whole part of the park to a Superman/Metropolis themed area. Imagine that: an area at SFO that has consistent theming! Maybe I'm expecting a little too much here.

Has anyone seen kaikaze at badnirtus. It would be cool if they used some of those new types of inversions that they have thought up, for example the rolling vertical loop or the spinning drop.
But maybe we should think of other possibilities, nobodyn said it would be a dutchman. Maybe Vekoma is trying the vertical drop concept, who knows. This whole thing almost sounds like a rumor.
KAMIKAZE sorry i cant spell
Actually not to cause arguements but Spiderman is the creation of Stan Lee, who now has switched sides and works for DC,not marvel. He is also creating a new version of Superman from an alternate universe, still i good guy but sort of a dark goodguy like Batman. But anyways the area on the map looks to cover the whole front area of the parking lot, not just a small corner. And while im on the topic i think they will be clearing land for a terrain hyper while building the new road. Just a little conspiracy i thought of.
I do agree that Stealth lacks actual "flying" time. To make it more like flying they should build more hills instead of inversions. Inversions don't really make it feel like you are flying. Inversions are fun but I think the flying coaster should have hills to actually feel like you are flying.
I attended SFO this summer with MooreOn. He is very right with the incosistent themeing througout the park. I mean on one side of the walkway there is Gotham city on the other side there is a western theme for the Texas Twister. I think they need to spend a little time and money to redesign some of the areas in the park. It just looked too slapped together; It seemed like they needed to make it look like a SF park so they did, as fast as they could.
Really, when did he switch to DC? as for the terrain hyper, they would have to make a prettty big hole or tunnel because of the height limit, but you never know.
Ive only rode stealth twice and i do agree it would be cool if most of the ride were "flying time". It would be great if they made more of a terrain ride so that you wouldnt really know what to expect. But once again we dont even know if it will be a flying coaster.
He switched well i don't know when but theres' an article about it in the Sept.14,2k issue (issue 849)of "Rolling Stone" magizine.
