Okay, a new ride is coming to SFO. No I don't know what kind of ride it is but it will be 115 feet tall! It will be located in the front corner of the park near Superman. Geauga Lake road will be moved around the parking lot so the ride can be placed there. So it is pretty safe to assume that Mr. Hyde is coming down! I have no website but if you have the Cleveland Plain Dealer look at Saturady's Metro section and you will find the info there!
[Ed. note: Normally this would be placed under the rumor section, but we have more information that confirms some of this information. Read the Plain Dealer's article. A source close to CoasterBuzz confirms that there are Vekoma parts on-site:
"A good friend of mine was at SFO over the weekend and looked in detail at some skids of stuff in the RV parking area. They were clearly marked Vekoma and were very large J-shaped anchor bolts. Accompanying them were large plates with octagonal bolt patterns on them. There was also other writing in Dutch on these skids. There is talk that GL Road will finally be rerouted around the north of the parking lot, and a Vekoma Flying Dutchman will be located in the Superman area and the corner of the parking lot."]
That's what I was just going to comment on, Jeff. I have a feeling that they won't take care of Stealth.
You can't compare apples and oranges. We all know that. For instance, trying to compare Cedar Point and Kennywood isn't really fair. They both have their plusses and minuses, and offer different experiences. Now, like I say, I don't think you should compare CP to SFO, either. The problem, however, is that even though SFO might actually be the orange to CP's apple... SFO is trying to compete in that league. So, then, it's fair game.

Six Flags Geauga Lake seems to be doing a little better in terms of ride maintainence and upkeep.... from at least what I could see....Nothing has really struck me as "not maintained in a world class manner"
Jeff, other than a lot of the stuff opening late, and professional issues what also struck you?
I guess the themeing is not as good as its been after a while, but you get that everywhere.
I hope ol' SFO is aware and is in the process of correcting any mistakes it made this year, its too early to get a bad rep.
I will agree that a Flyer will be bad if low staffed (NOT THAT ITS WHAT WE ARE GETTING YET) but Six Flags Geauga Lake really, truely need to get more people hired in. (and if from another city or country, a place for them to stay...lots of dorms would be good)

I might add that the whole Big Dipper fiasco was a bit on the annoying side for me too.
Ya know....
I heard SFO had a nice jump in attendance this year. Build unique coasters that you can't get anywhere else, and people will come. As far as the comparison with CP, enjoy the parks for what they offer and stop being childish, comparing a first year Six Flags park to a park that has been doing things right for years, it's just stupid.

SOMETHING IS COMING!!!
In 2001 a new *beast* will rise at SFMM.
Right on!
See, to most of the public, it won't matter if its a clone. It just won't. If its a good ride, they will ride it. One of these here would suit me just fine. Also, its an entirely new experience in that park. I have said this once about SFO, and I'll say it again, they need more in-betweener coasters.
It wouldn't at all suprise me if we see a Thrust air in (the state of) Ohio in 2 or 3 years
Okay, Im done.
It's a good coaster for SFO to follow up with. Once they learn how to run a park, SFO wil be a force to deal with whether people want to except that or not. "No king rules forever".

They got me to go, that's for sure. How often does a park get three new great coasters? (BKF is so-so, in my opinion, but still.)
As for the general public not knowing/caring about a ride being a clone, that's definately true. In fact, I really don't mind clones. If you think about it, it's only a "clone" on a personal basis. To somebody who's been on 25 different boomerangs, sure, it's a clone. To somebody who's never been on one in their life, it's a brand spankin' new thrill.

I've never been to PGA so I would be thrilled to have a coaster like that 9 miles from home. If that poor ride gets the heck cloned out of it then it would not draw me later. I feel that way about the boomerangs and SLC's I that is why the ridership always seems so low on those to rides at SFO. Let's face this park does have the capacity and money available to it to beat CP. If SF can play their cards right then they will.

Yes Intaminfan, I now see the logic of your report. I always thought that the spot near the pavillions was going to be a standup. Guess they changed their minds.

Six Flags America IS a Six Flags park!
Right on Simcoaster. may well all just get along and stop bashing either park. They are both amusement parks, enough said. As for bomerangs, what other six loop triller can be had for under six million? They are still decent rides, and they are better than nothing at all:). I guess I just got lucky this year in that I had a wonderful experience at SFO and plan on returning nextyear, though, my views may be colored by the fact that I was there with GOCC's summer gathering. Also, in defense of SF as a whole, I have had nothig but good luck, with the exception of the ROAR and Wildone crew's, with SFA's staff this year. Must just be me and my winning personality.

On the subject of clones: I like them, and many others do too. They are a by-product of the industry. If you dont like them? Too bad, they are here to stay so either get used to it or only patronize parks that dont clone or just be mad!
I really would like to see Stealth at SFA. I really dont think SFO needs another coaster that bad right now, but if they get one, it *might* give me a reason to go back there. I'm in the minority, but I like that park.
First of all most of the general public are not coaster freaks like us. What im trying to say is, they wont care if its a clone because they wont know its a clone. Most of them dont even know what a flying coaster is.
Any new coaster is going is going t get public attention. Think abut it if you didnt know anything about coasters but you still ride them and somebody told you abut a "Flying Coaster" what would you think?
A dutchman would be a great addition to the park, if you ask me it should have blue supports, and red and black track and be themed to the great SPIDERMAN
Well, a Spiderman coaster isn't likely to show up at a Six Flags park (different comics company...)

Its really nice to see so many of you excepting a clone if we get one. It shows that as coaster buffs, we understand that everything is done for a reason in the park industry.
As for the Spiderman comment... Spideman is a Marvel comics product, and Six FLags/Time Warner has license to use DC Comics products. (Licenses DO expire, though)
FYI
ah well spidey ride wouldd be sweet, i made one in rct.
I agree that six flags obtaining flying dutchmen would completely ruin the uniquness of that ride. Six flags colones the hell out of a lot of it's rides. (superman: ride of steel, boomernag, mind eraser to name a few). I almost wish that six flags wouldn't get ahold of the ride. oh well. Oh one more thing GIMMICKS at cedar point????? I don't think so.
Yeah, Coasterbuzz is terrific! Thanks, Jeff!
Soggy: "Madog, how many of those 14 coasters are good, maybe six of them. How many of the 68 rides are "kiddie circlular" rides, 20?"
How many of CP's coasters are good? 13 of them are good (I haven't riden Jr. Gemini) and 6 of them are outstanding. I think it is great that CP incorporates kiddy rides! It's easy to forget that we all we kids at one time.
Jr Gemini is great! In the mid point of the ride, it does a little hop which jolts you a bit. Fantastic!
Mine ride is one of my favorites.
