Six Flags New England seeks permission to build 120-foot coaster

Posted | Contributed by MFRULES

Six Flags New England is justifying a new 120-foot coaster to local planning authorities to maintain "economic viability." They did not say what kind of coaster it will be.

If it's a B&M flyer then it will be the only one in the country, I think that would attract people from all over and increase attendance.
Could it be a Launched Lift Hill coaster like the Incredible Hulk? That ride is about that high and the drop is 105ft. I'm not sure how long it is but I kow it's probably pretty close to 4,000.
If it's from B&M then chances are that it will be something other than a floorless because all the floorless coasters are much higher than 120ft.

coastaluva: not necessarily. Remember Six Flags like to buy one model and clone it. There could be a number of B&M flyers next year in the US. Or none.
i hope that this ride will help to decrease the wait for Superman. i was at SFNE last summer and the wait was 3 hours. All of the lines are extremely long at SFNE. I am going there in two weeks, how much has the Cyclone changed? is it still as good?
Just to clear a few things out... Six Flags rushed Deja Vu's opening.... It was in no way Vekoma's fault for the later than expected opening....

As for my prediction.... I will also say B&M Standup because of the sightings of B&M track heading North. AND the fact that SFA decided to bomb they're Standup proposal for batwing.... Then again, I think that the age of the Stand Up is over, everyone is into height and speed, thus why would B&M still be building these things. But whatever they build, I'll be happpy... More rides on Sros for me.... and maybe a few rides on this new caster.

Not trying to get in an argument but according to my sources the Deja Vu problems are primarily Vekoma's fault. In fact there were "issues" between SF and Vekoma regarding the three Super Invertigos *BEFORE* any DV construction even took place.

However its possible we're both right.

Anyone hear what went down at today's meeting?
Wow, this coaster is strongly needed in SFNE. This park will need at lease two more Coasters & 2 more water slides, to become super park. I have had a season pass to this park for 15 years before it was SFNE (when it was riverside park), all i want is more & more coasters. one more wooden coaster about 140 feet tallw/ a nice deep drop & one 120 -140 foot stand up steel coaster like the madussa in SFG in NJ.

Meeting went down and nabors are pissed. Just When we get the chance down here for something new somebody goes and screws it up. Why dont they just move if they hate the park so much it would do everyone a favor. its been on the news. I forgot who but some people are going to look where the coaster is to be placed. Hoping for floorless or a dutchman. I dont know if i would have the guts to ride a stand up. Wish my homepark the best and they better fight till they win.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It could be an Arrowbatic.
typical New England people. Always want to make everything hard to enjoy. We never seem to want nothing besides casino's. What about people who enjoy parks & coasters. I live 20 minutes from the park & the traffic is not bad at all. I hope they allow SFNE the chance to expand the park. i usally go to the park twice a week to enjoy the coasters, but for this park to survive it needs more. The park is just too small to keep coaster lovers interest.

The park needs to have everyone park across the street & just expand the park. this park doesn't need two parking lots. The parking lot across the street is very large. Please SFNE just expand.

Screamscape has updated their site. They say it was a proposed B&M, 117 ft tall, 2600 ft of track. Special features: U-turn after the lift, atleast two vertical loops. They think it's a Stand-Up. Now that it is proposed, are we going to get it?
Cyclone is ALOT better now. The new drop is smooth and feels VERY fast, and makes the rest of the ride faster also.
This ride is not 5300 ft, its 2600 ft, and the exact height is 117 ft. Its also definately steel.

I have seen the plans and have some pictures of them from the meeting.

Its definately B&M, and we are trying to figure out what it is.
Word has it from people there Monday that the on site visit went well, and approval is pretty certain. Lets hope.
