Posted | Contributed by MFRULES

Six Flags New England is justifying a new 120-foot coaster to local planning authorities to maintain "economic viability." They did not say what kind of coaster it will be.

A baby X?
With the height of 120 feet, sounds like a Flying Dutchman.

I agree...the first thought that came to my mind was a Flying Dutchman. I'm still sticking to my other guess even tho there's a strong chance I'm wrong.
I recieved another version of this letter Via-Email and it more specifically said tat the area would be what is now the employee parking lot, and that the ride would be steel, however this could just mean steel structured like Villian and Comet, however, i think that in addition to this, they will be replacing the log flume with a Flying Super Saturator (which they will not need to petition for because it is not over the 45 ft height ordinance. The ride in question will most likely be a FD or a Standup similar the the Schorcher.
i doubt SF would buy anything from Vekoma becuase of the problems with the dutchman and Deja Vu's.

HurricaneGeauga: PGA had problems w/ Stealth...didn't stop Six Flags from buying two for this year, did it?

Viper: 120 feet *high*...doesn't mean the drop can't be longer.
if I remember this correctly the proposed stand-up coaster that SFA traded for batwing was 140 feet tall not 120 feet tall that's a difference of 20 feet, also you never know SFA might still get the stand-up because the county did approve the project we'll just have to wait and see.
The article says the ride is:

- 120 ft. high
- 5300 ft. long

Can't be a Flying Dutchman (115ft. high, 3340ft. long)

I didn't see any refernce to length in the
Union-News article...where did you see that??

Ok, if those stats you read are right;

- 120 ft. high
- 5300 ft. long

Still saying stand-up, lets look at the two biggest in the US?

Chang = 154 ft. high, 144 ft. drop, 4155 ft. long
Riddler = 156, 146, 4370

It has length beat, to top the drop.. assuming its 120 ft, they would have to go about 30 feet underground. Of course they don't have to top those at all.. but would be nice.

We can dream..

Hopefully its NOT a Dutchman.. blah.
The article said it will be approximately 100ft shorter than Superman. So that is where the length was coming from. Im going to go with the assumption of a standup coaster. It doesn't need to be tall in order to be good.
I'm assuming the "100 feet shorter than Superman" means its height. Superman's drop is 221 feet and this one is supposed to be 120. 221-120=101. That's approximately 100. It's hard to believe that a coaster 120 feet tall would be ~5400 feet long.
ive never been to SFNE, so i have no idea whats coming...but to agree with an earlier response, 120 ft is a decent height for any loop rollercoaster...heck, how about a B&M inverted?? its been awhile since SF has built a BM inverted i believe....i mean all 6 of the Batman's are under 110 feet arent they?? at least im pretty sure of that. 120 feet would be almost perfect for a twisted little inverted. thats my opinion anyway :)

ROLLERCOASTERS....BETTER THAN OXYGEN BABY!!!!!!
I think they meant a 100ft shorter (tall wise) than superman...Oh by the way it's 125ft tall and it's not a clone. It also has at least 3 inversions.

If the stats are right, what about a CCI Shivering Timbers clone or a similar coaster.
Shivering Timbers has a 125 foot lift, a 120 foot drop and a track lenght of 5,384 feet. You never know

Give me 13 million dollars and I'll give you the World's Greatest Ride!
Perhaps we'll see some type of launched coaster?? Could this be a possiblity??

Just about anything is possible [other than what they already have] right now. Until we see a track sighting or read city council minutes, or the park makes an announcement we won't know anything for sure.

But it sure is fun to guess ;-)
Let me kill the wooden rumors:

"...a new STEEL roller coaster for the park."
It's in the article, folks.

I think that it is most likely the B&M Stand-Up, but putting near Mind Eraser would kill the Batman rumor. Unless...

They take out the lame stunt show a few shops and stalls, and put a Batman Stand-Up right along the ridge between DC Comics and Tiny Timber Town (Which they should demolish and replace with a Swing Thing). But, that still leaves Poison Ivy between it and Mind Eraser, so it's not likely that location being used.

A flying dutchman would really kick ***, but it would most definetly increase traffic. Especially if they build it in the parking lot.
