I can't think of the name of the Schwarzkopf, but I know one does (I've seen pictures) have those 4 pt. harnesses on it like Perilous Plunge, but I HOPE this ride doesnt have them, I say just a seatbelt and a lap bar is fine.

>superman, I guess you haven't been playing

I'm happy that it was a terrific ride for you, but what makes you think they could reduce the Gs on the first two loops just like that?
The layout seen in the shots and the animation of Zonga is exactly the same as it was from the beginning.
I wonder why people get so excited about the "hallmark fame" of 6.5 Gs.
The biggest problems are the entrances to the small loops in front, notably the smaller one.

Look, I'm a Schwarzkopf fan, too. I've known this ride from its very first day in 1986. I know about the rumors they want to make this ride "more comfortable" but I don't see what they could or would do to make it safer besides reducing the speed, thereby spoiling the ride and the design. The human body has certain limits, and it's up to you to care about yourself. *** This post was edited by superman on 1/18/2003. ***

Ye of little faith. There is actually *plenty* they can do, while actually *improving* the rides original design. All I can say is,just wait...

"The human body has certain limits"/ cut it...

Save it for Markey. SFMW isn't going to open a coaster that is dangerous and risk serious lawsuits. This is starting to sound suspiciously like bitter grapes...

Put in big padded comfy seats! ;)

I tell yah, I love the Mission Beach Giant Dipper and all, but I had to swallow my spleen back into my guts last time I rode. The orginal trains would have been much better.

Well... I do hope you'll have a good time riding it!

Oh we will.......... muhahahaha

Ant, who is praying and fasting that they will have lapbars.

No, it won't be just lapbars. That's out of the question on this ride due to the clearances with some of the supports. Someone could lean too far forward or to the side and get smacked. We went through this discussion last time Texas Tornado changed harnasses. There will be some manner of shoulder restraint, though exactly what remains to be seen. The four point harnass on that Flamingoland coaster is a real possibility, and would probably be your most comfortable option (if a bit slow loading), though I'm expecting a beefier more padded OTSR.

I've wanted to ride this thing since I saw pictures of it back in Germany. Now, finally I get a chance!

So how painful is it? Worse then SFMM's Flashback?

So... I'm just sooo curious at how they're going to change the track or the trains for Zonga.
Especially... are they going to put in new pieces of track to replace the critical sections?
Are they going to change the circular back-to-back looping situation?
I believe they will probably shorten the first drop, thus the elevation you enter the loops will be raised. Combine with shorter (less heavy) trains and you should as a result go through the loops a bit slower. Not sure if they are going to actually change the roundness of the loops, seems like it'd be a lot harder. Texas Tornado was all about that first drop into the double loops, and that's the part getting a significant taming for Zonga. The second half was never all that exciting anyway as the block brakes suck most of the momentum out.
Wow... it's a pitty about the drop, that's really a cool one.
It would be great if they could leave that and do something about the roundness of the loops...
couldn't they just re-engineer the two loops in front and put in new track segments that produce less force? *** This post was edited by superman on 1/24/2003. ***
