Six Flags Marine World will debut Zonga this year, formerly Texas Tornado at Six Flags Astroworld.

King Konga and Queen Zonga....nice

Very Funny...I wonder why they chose to use a computer animation version of the ride instead of one of many photos that existed of the ride prior to its relocation?
They probably did that to make it look brand new.

The top 3 all time cobrarolls.

1)Raptor's
2)Deja Vu's (times 3)
3)Batman Knight Flight's

If it ain't broken, don't fix it.

Wow. Astroworld, the Six Flags dumping ground, actually *loses* one of its used rides. How pathetic is that?

But good for Marine World; this ride looks awesome.

A day is a drop of water in the ocean of eternity. A week is seven drops.

Any word yet on what trains they are using? This was the reason it has sat SBNO for two years, just wondering how they suddenly solved the problem.
Any relation to Holiday World's Zinga?

Actually, I took a look in my Swahili dictionary...zonga means "surround" and "twist." So that may be where the name came from...that's how we came up with Zinga.

SFMW, is making a lot on modifications to this ride. Some track segments are being worked on to reduce the G's. Some supports had to be worked on also due to clearence issues. There will be 4 trains, one that has never ran before. The restraints are going to be the old ones that ran on Thriller and the first year at AW. It will be that lap bar and semi OTSR.

"I took the highway to the danger zone"

And seatbelts, and the trains are going to be 5 cars, not 6.

Part of the move was Thriller didn't run very well in our heat in Texas.

Great news! Looks like I'm going to SFMW this year ;)

Sig under construction!

I believe they went with the computer animation because of the new paint scheme as well. If you notice from the pictures, the ride is now all blue, save for the four loops (which are Six Flags logo colors - neat).

About the trains, NorCal Kid, are you saying they're going to have the "accordion" style harness? I don't believe that is correct. From what I saw/heard, it will have newly designed harnesses. Could you elaborate?

So, what're the chances that they get this thing up and running by late March?

I'll be in San Jose for the weekend and I'm planning a visit to Marine World and Great America.

Ironically, I'll be in Houston two weeks later.

Actually NorCal Kid, the trains are getting all new OTSR restraints not previously used on the ride from its running as Thriller or Texas Tornado, but you are correct that the ride is being structurally modified to reduce the amount of G's on riders.

Hopefully it'll be up and running by then Chernabog, but don't hold your breath. I've heard that most of the track won't start arriving until sometime in March.

This is awesome news though, kudos to SFMW for bringing over this Schwarzkopf monster. I'm SOOO looking forward to riding it this year. Woo Hoo!! :)

I was just there a few weeks ago and there was no sign at all of the ride or any kind of construction. It is portable (I think) so they don't need to do any real ground work, but the only maintainance going on was for a fence.

You must be this dumb to ride Viper. -SFGAdv.

It's alive! It's alive!

Now I know I gotta get to the West Coast...

The CPlaya 100--6 days, 9 parks, 47 coasters, 2037 miles and a winner.....LoCoSuMo.

That makes five coasters that Six Flags has kept from the graveyard for those keeping track at home. That would be: the mine train going to Great Escape, Greezed Lightning at SFKK, Zonga at SFMW, Batman the Ride at SFNO, and whatever they're calling Joker's Revenge( from SFFT), also at SFNO.
