I keep hearing people call Six Flags over Georiga the "Six Flags Ghetto." Can anyone tell me why?
Because they're racists who cannot handle being in a park with an un-acceptable number of blacks in it!
PERIOD
I hope race isn't the issue. I consider a park 'ghetto' if it seems to exist in a substandard way ie trash everywhere and people being rude (eg line jumping). Anyone can act 'ghetto,' and anyone can act non-'ghetto.' Ghettit? Ahaha sorry.
Okay... not going to enter this debate as to SF... but will give some deffinitions of ghetto (all according to Merriam-Webster OnLine).
Original deffinition (as un PC as it may be)... from around 1611, the part of a city where Jews were required to live. The most "famous" (or infamous) example of this was the Warsaw ghetto before and during WWII. (meaning is pretty much obsolete today)
2nd deffinition: a part a city where a miniority group lives, usually as a result of social, economic or legal pressure
3rd deffinition: an isolated group of people or a situation resembling a ghetto. It has the stigma of a low status or little oportunity to advance.
I believe deffinition #3 is the one that most probably use in regard's to parks... low class, status, behavior, etc, with out regard to race etc.
(If you want to throw mud at parks or slurs at each other, at least know the deffinition of what you are talking about.)

But I'm agreeing with you, IF the park does not care about the behavior of these people, just because "they have paid", then it's time for ME to go. The park should offer some kind of safe environment.
It takes alot to "scare" me. Obviously, alot of people are "scared" by people who are different than them. ATL is much nicer now than it was in the 80's, LOL! You can walk around places you literally couldn't. I think it's peoples' own perceptions, but there are places everywhere that ARE dangerous. People who are in gangs can't ride rollercoasters? Geez, I didn't walk through a metal detector for NO reason to get into the park. Where did that come from? Does it make a certain segment of the population feel better, does it really protect people, or is there a reason for it? Mmmmm. I'm sure some BAD things have happened to people, being beat up in parks or something, but I don't feel like many of these people are "scaring" anyone, there's no audience if there's no audience, I see it like telling a person to shut up during a movie, if they're REALLY bothering you. There's times & places for everything. .......and there's metal detectors because many a redneck would carry their pistols into Six Flags if there was no sign up or something. There's crazier people than so-called gang bangers.

"The word ghetto means thisA large group of one type of people in a certain area.
I have to disagree. There is a large group of causcasian ppl in my nieghborhood and its not called a ghetto. Usually the term is used to describe a large group of minority ppl living in an area that is run down!!

Antuan - They call the place full of white people "suburbs."
I can't help but chuckle at your statement while reading this Sunday's Minneapolis Star-Tribune about minority children attending suburban schools. Where's the story here....unless you expect suburbs to be overwhelmingly Caucasian?
