Six Flags America or New England?

BatwingFanSFA, why don't you change your screen name? It really bugs the hell out of me with your comments. If you don't like SFA, then why advertise it in your name?

I really think much of this advice overlooks the fact that he lives in Jersey and presumably goes to GAdv. pretty regularly. He's already been on a Premier launcher (which I would say is better than JJ) and a B&M flyer (which could be a toss up with Batwing) and a B&M hyper. I don't think anything at SFA will really pop his tarts.

How about you wait on SFNE and we plan an NJ invaision next year! Will gather all the CoasterBuzz NJ gang and head on up 95. What do you say to that?

AppolloAndy is right on the ball. The only thing I would be missing out on is Roar! if I didn't go to SFA. But if I skipped out on SFNE I would be missing out on arguably the best ride in the world, and maybe Lake Copounce. Crashmondo, thats a pretty good idea, but what does 95 lead to (don't know my roads too well)
I-fan,I'm not so much as saying I hate SFA but it's just that whenever these topics come up I say what's the point in encouraging the person who's debating on wether or not to visit SFA over lets say SFGRADV,OR SFNE in this case(BTW they stole our floorless last year) when the other park in question usually has the better ride lineup.
I would definitely say SFNE. And here's why...

SFA- A bunch of average rides (at best). JJ is IMO one of the worst launched coasters I've been on, the woodies are ok, Batwing is nothing special. I know I am going to get attacked for this, but their S:ROS is, well, mediocre. Out of all the hypers I've been on, S:ROS here is definitely near the bottom of the list.

SFNE- Even if you discount all the other rides there, S:ROS alone makes this park the winner. Simply awesome!! The rest of the rides aren't bad either. Not to mention, as others said, the possibility of going to Lake Compounce, a very good park.

While neither of these parks are among my favorites, I say SFNE is a better pick.

95 runs the whole east coast. Take to anywhere!

I'd say go to Six Flags America. The quality of coasters is far superior to that in New England. Even if Superman New England is better than Superman DC, it's still no where near as good as Roar. If you like good wood, a great launched coaster, flyer, hyper, and two inverted coasters go DC, if you want a good hyper and a floorless, go New England. And as for the Lake Compounce being close by argument, Richmond aint to far from Six Flags America.

Ummm.

how about sfmm its got the only 4 dimensional ride in the world and its broken the record of coasters in a single park.

Why not just take a trip to Holiday Park in Germany while your at it. Expedition G force is great. ;)

If you have the time consider what else is nearby. For example, SFA is just a few miles from Washington DC with lots of interesting things.

Batwing Fan: You say that SFAs coaster selection is only average, but you've only been to 4 parks. (Pretty good ones overall) SFA has one of the best hypers in the world, an excellent wooden twister, an invertigo that blows any standard boomerang out of the water, a nice flyer (I've ridden a B&M flyer, and it's different but not really better overall), a very good launched coaster, and nice old woodie that isn't too intense but still has some nice pops of air and a good helix, and yes it's stuck with an SLC. This is a far better selection than most parks.

If you can hit Lake Compounce and SFNE, why not HP and SFA. HP and SFA are at the most 3 hours a part. Not to mention HP is adding a Intamin Rocket Coaster with inversions and the verdict is still out if SFA is going to add anything.
My home park is SFA, and I go about once a week. But, I also like visiting the other SF parks and see what they have to offer. SFA is a good park, but has it's share of problems, that are being corrected IMO. SFNE is a little better themed and I think the have a wider range of flat rides to offer. I liked how S:ROS at SFNE goes into the hill side. My advice would be to visit one this year and one later in the year or next. Both have something to offer and have other nearby parks and attarctions.
Definatly SFNE....SFA is just like any other SF parks. IMO its pretty crappy. I was amazed when i went to SFNE, I couldnt believe that it was an SF park. The Atmosphere is amazing, amazing Rides, Great Staff. SFA, Doesnt have that.

I would Definatly choose SFNE over SFA any day. That park is possibly the best SF park in the whole chain. It stands out from any SF park i ever been to.

I haven't been to SFA, but I enjoyed the trip to SFNE recently. The Fear Fest lineup seems a lot more robust than SFGAdv this year (with real walkthrough haunted mazes) and I'd have a hard time choosing between S:ROS and Magnum XL-200 for my favorite non-looping steel coaster. The flat rides are great and I was wondering what happened to the Time Warp (Chance Inverter), one of my favorites.
SFA has Batwing, Rfoar, Wild One and Jokers Jinx, plus Iron Eagle which i heard hasn't opened in months. Although those coasters were EXCELLENT, batwing constantly breaks down, along with S:ROS, Two Face and Iron eagle. The rest of the park had nothing to do. IT was a nice day trip, but I wouldn't bother again unless they got something awesome.

SFNE was spectacular, so good that i went back for ANOTHER 2 days three weeks later. It had excellent theming, excellent flats, some are common, but alot of them were run better than Gadv's(I'm 20 minutes away), plus the fact that Mind Eraser was really smooth compared to most SLC's, and more powerful, B:TK, was also more powerful than average because of the small footprint. S:ROS can't be described, the one at SFA sucked. Thunderbolt was pretty good, exceeds expectations for it's height. Cyclone if u ride it a few times it seems better, last row, or first row is where to sit. S:ROS, the front car is the best ride. Flashback also seems pretty smooth. Maintence is great, and so is Nightwing. Don't miss it.

Lake compounce was also nice, i only stayed for 2 hours, but Boulderdash kicked major ass. 1st row-Second car is the ejector seat, sorta like 3rd row on Phoenix

I also live in Northern NJ, Passaic County to be exact. I have never been to SFA, but my only reasons for visiting would be SROS, Batwing, and Roar. Other than that, nothing too specacular there for me. On the other hand, I have been to SFNE, which is approximately 2 1/2 hours from my house. You just can't get enough of SROS. All it will take is one ride and you will be hooked. The other coasters at SFNE are decent as well. Cyclone is a good ride with a fair amount of forces. Thunderbolt has some ejector air, especially on that last hill. Mind Eraser and Flashback and nothing to write home about. BTDK is a short, but fun floorless. Also, there is a wide selection of flats, including a Top Spin, Huss Fly Away (Human Waffle Maker), Chaos, etc. And also, the upgraded Hurricane Harbor is something else that will keep you busy throughout the day.
