Singles line

Singles line are the gretest inventions ever. I absolutely love them. Aside from the extremely reduced wait, I like meeting new people! It also increases capacity. It even encourages more people to ride (they think the lines will go faster). And it's less of a hassle for ride-ops (less harnesses to close on empty seats and less to open. This would especially help on American Eagle.) But, if Six Flags were to do this they'd put a price on it, and that would just be stupid.

Just so you know, there are a lot more coasters than just American Eagle with buzz bars. But I agree, I hate waiting in line for an hour or so and watch trains go out with a lot of empty seats!

Why do they have buzz bars?

oh my, i wish all parks had single rider lines on their coasters. when i went to florida the line for dr dooms was about 20 minutes. i would get in the single riders line and be on in 1 or 2 launches. every time. same with hulk. 20 minute wait and i got on in like 2 trains. i did this about 20 times on DR dooms and about 10 times on hulk with the same results every time

this is the biggy here: i went on men in black with my folks, we waited an hour to get on the ride. after they went back to the hotel and i stayed. i got in the single riders line and waited 5 minutes tops for a ride. i did this about 5 times with same results then left and rode twister!!!

i absolutely love the single rider lines, even if i was with someone i would go in that line with them and meat up after. it increases your rides per hour to like 8 rides.

....and even the GPers complain about empty seats....it makes the wait *seem* longer when you see trains with empty seats, I guess......but oh, the extra staffing costs of 1 person per ride....that's something we can only afford here in FL......but we have NO state income tax

how come an executive can get a "bonus" equal to the salary of ten employees, but that a single staff person to make the guests happier is a "cost issue".....why are upcharges priced so they don't get ridden most of the time.....why is SF stock in the toilet.....these, and more, in our next exciting issue

Singles lines - absolutely! What parks have them??? Ski areas have been using them for decades to reduce lift lines, why not parks too!

What keeps a group from getting in this short line and saying that they are all by themselves?

You can take a group in a single rider only line, but they will not be able to ride together. As long as you don't mind being split up, you any group may use the single rider line.

I think that these are a good idea for bigger parks like but not necessarily for parks that don't draw a large volume of guests. About 90% of the time when I ride coasters, I'm a single rider and at SFDL they don't care because most of their coasters are 2 to 3 train waits max on a typical weekday with the exception of Superman. CP ismyhome has a good point as well, that is unless there are employees that monitor who goes into these lines.

We use them occasionally for rides we've already ridden (don't care if we stay together)....MiB! But it DOES tick me off when people use the SR line and then want to stay together....usually the employees try to "accommodate" them, I say "back of the line!"....

All Deja Vu's need single riders! (Maybe impulses too)

I think singles lines are better, for example at funland in Rehoboth beach, which is where I spent my weekend the Sea dragon has a singles line for either end which is something that SFA's High seas doesn't have which in turn results in a longer wait for the end seats of the ride.

Also Sea dragon puts high seas to shame with a longer ride cycle, higher power resulting in increased height and buzz bars for some of the greatest airtime of any flat ride around. =)

Thats cool. But what park has the singles line?

Six Flags, the only chain of parks that can manage to have stacking with a one train operation.

Well, before a singles line is implemented, how about just getting all the trains on the track and getting reasonable dispatches? I was at SFGAdv. this weekend, and the crew was consistently stacking 3 trains on Medusa. A good crew would do so much more than a singles line (which is also a very good idea).

RCD187, singles lines are available at IoA/USF, and at JtA at SWF....I *may* very well be missing some...anyone else?

WDW has them as well, Gator-I remember them for sure at Test Track and ToT (circa 2000), and maybe RnRC too?

BGW had one for Apollo's Chariot, too.

Serial Thriller at WoA when it was only SF:O had it cause my Dad and I split up for our second ride on it. I see no problem with groups using the singles line - not like they're really cutting, they're just filling in for other groups that don't want to be split up. (ST doesn't have it anymore though ... )

If all parks would assign seats on there coasters the trains would go out almost always without a seat empty. It would also help keep lines moving fast and constant. I hate when you get up to a station and see it just completely filled with no where to go. Its nice like on MF or Hulk that you get up there and grab a seat and get right on.

I have seen so many people do that! You can easily tell they are not a single rider and that just plain irks me! No one says anything to them and it’s a big load of s*** that they can do that!

As long as they break up their group and ride separately, what's the big deal?
