Simpsons to cut on Disney World in forthcoming episode

Posted | Contributed by Jeff

Cartoon family The Simpsons will take their stab at the Disney theme park empire in a new episode airing on Fox January 5. The animated characters will win a trip to "EFCOT" where they describe just how boring it is.

Has anybody ever considered the recent 'digs' at Disney properties could be PAID product placement. Before they used fictitous names now they are using the real names.

I thought it would be kinda funny if they went to DCA instead of WDW and Lisa said, "I still think that the Campbells Chunky Soup Maximum Security Prison was better."

mrk468zz,

In regard's to Flanders' "amusement park" they were not making that up. There actually _is_ a theme park in Orlando called the "Holy Land Experience" ( http://www.holylandexperience.com/ )which is (more or less) identical to Flanders' Praiseland.

This is going to be a great episode. Maybe not as good as the "South Park" episode featuring "The Line Ride," but if it's half as funny we're all in for a treat.

I was lucky enough to actually listen to Mike Reiss, one of the Simpsons writers, lecture at my school a bit over a month ago, and he made mention of how they wanted to continue on the show for several more years. He also talked about how everywhere that they send the Simpsons to and do those subtle rips on always gets mad and in some cases takes the show off of the air in that country. Anyway, I think it was Canada that then got mad because they didn't make fun of it enough. Well, they really want somewhere that can actually take those little pieces of mud the show throws at them with a smile, and I think right now Disney could be one of those places.

I saw the commericial for it: Homer jumps the wall into Magic Kingdom and you hear

"1 Churro Please!,"

Then you here another man (the guy at the food cart or whatever says "That'll be $14.00 please"

"D'OH!" (Homer)

Believing is seeing.

Yeah, and if I remember right *which I do*... the Simpsons were kicked out of all but ONE state.. LOL

Georgia Scorcher...OH yeah it's fire baby!!!

The third season on DVD actually comes out in May. I am too mad that they are not coming out faster, but you have to remember: They are still making shows every week, and they want to put as much content into the DVD's that they can. They are making the commentary, etc. for the DVD's plus they are making many brand new shows. They don't want to put out DVD's of just the episodes and no special features.

Groening has said many times he does not like Fox. Fox tells them every week not to put certain things in an episode because it's too contriversial. So, they make it worse. FOX can't do anything about it because the Sompsons gives FOX a whole lot of veiwers.

"My favorite season was I think 8 or 9, the one with Hallabalooza and the one where Bart drove a rental down on spring break to see the Sunsphere."

Actually, both of those were from season 7. :-) A classic season, along with seasons 2-8, IMO. Pretty much any huge Simpsons fan like me will say the same.

" following the arc of its quality over the years - from amusing to genius to desperate - it becomes clear, to my eyes at least, that the person most responsible for its "great" period was Conan O'Brien (along with Sam Simon and a raft of long-gone writers). "

Actually, Conan only wrote about 3 episodes, and while each one was great, he was hardly a real impact on the series' success. Same as Sam Simon, he was really only involved with the first season and part of the second. The success of the show from the greatness of seasons 3-8 was because they had a huge ammount of awesome writers and producers who know what they were doing. Around season 9 is when the show started to go downhill, when many of the veteran writers left and Mike Scully became executive producer. Him and a bunch of unexperienced writers are pretty much responsible for making the show more violent, crude, hyperactive, nonsensical, and well, basically everything thats wrong with the show today.

"My other car is a B&M Floorless."

I'm late on this whole news thing. One, the joke was great, LOL, with the jumping over the fence thing & the punchline, IMHO, the fact that aftre it hurt & cost a lot of money, Homer still wanted his grub & willingly paid up for it, something many vacationing famalies do.

But as far as an arc, even when the Simpsons are on a low arc, it's still an arc above the rest. The only episodes I prefer not to watch are the old voice style/jiggly drawn ones, the first couple of seasons. As for Conan O'Brien, don't give that fool more credit than he deserves. I think the number of producers credited every week is quite long, which is, IMHO, a reflection that there wasn't much work for him to do, really, you know? The names to look for on these shows are Bill Oakley & Josh Weinstein, those are the guys........
