Cartoon family The Simpsons will take their stab at the Disney theme park empire in a new episode airing on Fox January 5. The animated characters will win a trip to "EFCOT" where they describe just how boring it is.
Read more from The Orlando Sentinel.
The good thing about animation is that you're not limited in where you can set your plots, so there are infinite possibilities. No worries about kids growing out of roles, either.
I too am upset about the DVDs not coming out faster, though. Star Trek: TNG is already up to season 6 and the first one just came out last year. Meanwhile, we still have a couple of years to go before we start getting into the seasons that really defined the Simpsons as the best show of all time (seasons 4-8, to be specific).

.. as has been pointed out.. This isn't the first stab at Disney lately by them.
Few episodes ago they went to tour a prison and made the coment it was better than Califonia Adventure.. hehehe

In last weeks episode they already said something about Disney's California Adventure. They went to see Sideshow Bob in prison and said something like this sure beats being at Disney's California Adventure or somthing.
Ahhh, seasons 4 through 8. Some of the (begin Comic Book Store guy voice) best... episodes... ever! Those would include the legendary Mr. Burns adopting Bart episode, the one where Maggie ends up with Mr. Burns' Teddy Bear Bobo, Uncle Moe's Family Feedbag, and my all-time favorite, the episode where Bart gets a driver's license and he, Milhouse, Martin and Nelson all drive to Knoxville for the World's Fair, only to find that a wig outlet has replaced the World's Fair site and the Sunsphere is being used to store wigs. An absolute classic. "Now you boy's gonna buy some wigs or ain't ya?"
ray p. (looking forward to this Sunday's EFCOT episode)
Don't forget the dis on EuroDisney.

Going by what I heard, the Simpons aren't going anywhere for the forseeable future. Recently, Groening was mist-quoted as saying he was getting tired of it, but he responded with enthusiasm for continuing the series. Thank God!

The Simpsons is a billion dollar enterprise (I forget the actual amount... it was recently in Rolling Stone). Regardless, it wouldn't be anything without the TV show. One way or another, I think it will be made for some time to come.

DELETED!
The Simpsons are still on? Whatever ... I guess there's a lot of air time to fill.
As for Matt Groening - he may have some say over the show's future (don't know, don't care) but he never really had much to do with the actual writing of the show. In retrospect, following the arc of its quality over the years - from amusing to genius to desperate - it becomes clear, to my eyes at least, that the person most responsible for its "great" period was Conan O'Brien (along with Sam Simon and a raft of long-gone writers). As for Mr. Groening, I feel his current abilities are fairly well reflected in his weekly Hell "comic", which has about as many legitimate chuckles as your average new Simpsons episode.
So I guess not everyone loves that show ...

My favorite episode was when Grandpa Simpson decided to spend his money and goes to DIS-NEE-LAND! Funny stuff! I don't think the Simpson are going anywhere, anyway, because there is talks of the Simpson movies coming out in 2004!

That's great news about Futurama. That show has the wit and biting humor that the Simpsons did in its golden years. If only they'd make more new ones.

The Duff Elves were the greatest....esp. Surly, he's my favorite. Why hasn't anyone else mentioned the *fairly obvious* connection between Duff Gardens and Busch Gardens....not exactly one of my bigger *leaps in logic*....;)
Adding all these episodes up, I guess you could say the Simpsons are *almost* as theme-park obsessed as some of YOU...;)

The Westworld parody at Itchy and Scratchy Land has to be one of the best episodes out there (including its extensive Walt Disney parody). Duff Land is second when it comes to amusement park episodes. More recent ones just aren't up to par (then again, that can be said about the entire series)--like the one where Flanders builds a Church-themed park in honor of his wife.
Regardless, this show will be on for some time to come, so long as the ratings are high enough. MG's hardly involved anymore, and the show's lost nearly all of the writers that were on during seasons 3-8, which is why its just not funny anymore. Can't wait for the DVDs.
